Inexpensive, easy to configure, good support, and it is easy to scale up when needed
The most valuable feature is the interface, which is very nice to work with. Whether you're working on the appliance itself, or you're working on the cloud, it is basically the same interface. It got to the point where when we needed to recover a file, we didn't look at the backup solution anymore. Instead, we went right to the Datto Backupify. Using Backupify took our time to recover from probably four days to 20 minutes. With this device, you're capable of logging into the interface or through an IP address to access the data that is stored on it. Recovery can be just a matter of spinning up a virtual machine or doing a full bare metal recovery, replacing the entire hardware-based server.

Reliable rollback features for smooth IT operations and an easy setup
We are using Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 to take backups of shop floor PCs. I use it for clients locally, particularly for critical machines. It is also used globally for server-side backups and includes scheduling features like taking ten backups every Sunday when the factory is closed. This…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the interface, which is very nice to work with."
"The most valuable features are the ease of use and the fact that users themselves can self-provision and recover."
"Veeam Backup does backup and restore very well."
"It works well for our backup needs, and I would recommend it for Microsoft 365 due to its reliability."
"I find Veeam's customer service and support to be excellent, rating them ten out of ten."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is the backups, we do not want to lose any files. Each one of the files is updated on a regular long-term basis and kept together in the Microsoft cloud-only."
"The scalability is good."
"Veeam Backup for Office 365 has good security, and I also like the process they use for backups."
"Veeam makes modular solutions, so you can install Veeam Backup for Office 365 and Veeam Backup and Replication in one single server. You can do an all in one installation, and roll it out."
"It was easy to set up."

Cons

"The device does not allow you to do multiple backups over the whole environment."
"Not a ten because there's always room for improvement."
"You can't really edit. For example, if you have created a backup for a user, you can't drill down on a granular level during the backup. You have to back up the mailbox completely. That's it. It would be helpful if you could at least go inside the mailboxes to choose what you want."
"The product cannot back up Active Directory objects while its competitors can. Self-service power enables us to deal with service providers. We provide services for our clients, so having a multi-tenant service portal would be good."
"While there really is nothing wrong with the product some small improvements in the interface could make it even easier to use."
"The customer service and support response time can be improved."
"They could include WAN acceleration to compress the traffic to make things faster."
"The solution is costly."
"One major drawback is that Veeam doesn't support migrating data once it's stored in object storage like S3."
"They can provide a dashboard for sizing. This feature might get included in the next release."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The costs were about $1,000 USD to buy the unit in the first place, and then between $250 and $300 per year for support."
"The cost of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is $19 for one mailbox."
"The pricing is middle-of-the-road compared with competing products."
"Veeam Backup for Office 365 is a subscription-based solution."
"We decided on Altaro because, from the point of view of the total cost, Altaro looks cheaper than Veeam. Veeam has a lot of costs that are not clear when you start it, which makes it less flexible than Altaro, but only after half a year, you can be really sure that you made a good decision."
"Veaam Backup is licensed per mailbox, which customers like because it's per user and so they don't have to pay for shared mailboxes."
"The solution is not expensive."
"From our perspective in South Africa, our biggest challenge is the exchange rate from the South African currency to the US dollar. This makes it a bit pricey for us. However, compared to other backup solutions available, I would rate the pricing at a nine out of ten. For the servers, features, and functionality you get, it's worth the money. Of course, we'd always prefer things to be cheaper, but we also understand that you have to pay for proper functionality. So overall, it's not badly priced at all."
"There is an annual license required and a per-user fee for this solution."
