Data integration has improved reserving and expense control while collaboration drives fast dashboards
Regarding drawbacks or weak points in Microsoft Power BI, it may not be directly related to the tool itself, but with our architecture, as we couldn't get a service account, which is an email address that has no relationship with the employees, just to establish the connection with Anaplan. We couldn't get it to work on SSO, so we use an employee account which could be a point of weakness, meaning if the person leaves, that connection will break. If the person goes on holiday and we need to refresh, we have to change the connection as well, but we have to live with that since we're not using SSO on the service account. Regarding the natural language processing feature, we're trying to avoid using it too much because it can slow down the connection, so as much as possible, we try to build the logic and any transformation in Anaplan, and then deliver an end product to Microsoft Power BI.

Pros

"It's allowed us to implement High Performance Work teams who periodically monitor KPIs, as well as improving the infrastructure and overall work methodology."
"Automated reports can be generated using SQL Reporting and Analysis in XML and PDF formats which are easier to read and understand."
"It is a very good software solution; it makes life very easy for us, is easy to grasp, and is useful."
"Real-time refresh is quite interesting and user-friendly, provided you have access to a gateway. It works well."
"The feature I find most valuable is the ability to publish Power Bi reports, using an embedded link, directly onto a website."
"I have found the most valuable feature of this solution is the Natural Language tool."
"Power BI is a general-use visualization system. I can express the performance of our network through high-level key performance indicators."
"Microsoft BI's most valuable feature is flexibility."
"Constant collaboration is the most valuable. I can build a dashboard, and several co-workers can access this dashboard. We can share information that is important for decision-making. It is a very easy-to-deploy solution. It is compatible with a lot of data sources. It is also very stable and scalable. There is also a very good forum and a lot of help and online training."

Cons

"Pricing needs to be brought down."
"More connections with other systems should be added, which would allow for other integrations."
"For our reporting services, it would be good to have the capability for email-based subscriptions. I want to be able to change the sender dynamically, without having to rely on running through an exercise passage."
"here are some limitations with the data models needed to build the report."
"The integration in Microsoft BI could improve for other solutions, such as Oracle DB and PostgresSQL. Additionally, the reporting from the databases to Microsoft BI should be in real-time and the overall performance could be better."
"The setup took a lot of tinkering with InfoSec to allow us to do stuff."
"Capacity could be improved."
"From an improvement perspective, I think if the Power BI developers of that platform would really focus on being more detailed and specific on the error messages, it would help a lot of developers troubleshoot and maintain the report ECT or the dashboard ECT."
"The DAX features need some improvement. It's not as easy as Excel. They need more DAX formulas."
