Efficient email security and link scanning streamline network protection
One area for improvement is the user-friendliness of the UI. It is not intuitive to manage policies as I have to go through several pages to find necessary information. Additionally, the profile management for scanning and protection profiles is clumsy and could be more straightforward. There should be some simplification in changing profiles due to performance issues.

Intercept X Endpoint could learn from CrowdStrike in terms of overall performance and filtering because performance is most important, especially these days as Windows is getting buggier and buggier, which puts a huge load on the PC, and even with the most advanced CPUs and everything in place, it still lags in performance in so many places, thanks to Windows' clumsy design of these collaboration suites that make it extremely heavy on PC's resources. The interface of Intercept X Endpoint is quite old-fashioned. The Sophos interfaces, including for Intercept X Endpoint, are quite bad actually; to be very honest, even in UTM boxes, they are not great at all. You can hardly see a very small portion of windows while it's creating the firewall rules, and we have been complaining about this for quite some time, but there hasn't been any improvement on those grounds. Intercept X Endpoint's anti-ransomware capabilities failed us during a bad attack, and just because of our own backup policies, we could restore our normal operations; otherwise, if we had to depend on this solution, we would have been long dead because the infection was so bad, it couldn't even detect the infection. Intercept X Endpoint cannot handle zero-day attacks; in my experience, last year, we had this major issue with a malware attack, and it happened just because of our backup policies that we were able to recover without any support from Sophos, which just told us they would charge us some 1 Crore in rupees. Intercept X Endpoint should improve their implementation; things will never be perfect for the new world. This new world is always facing new kinds of attacks and new ways to compromise the system. They need to learn fast, implement fast, and sometimes redesigning the solution is the solution—not just patchwork. There was a time we used to love Sophos because of its fresh design and innovative thought. In my experience, when technical companies are led by MBA professionals, they lose their shine on the technical part and become more dependent on target sales; it turns into a marketing-centric operation that loses the technical focus completely.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"A lot of the AI that is running in the background that deals with the response on different detections is important, and the learning from the labs themselves is also very important. That's where they set themselves apart from others. A lot of the other products that are out there on the market probably have a lot more bells and whistles, but they are not necessarily directed at the heart of what MDR should do, at least in my opinion. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and in my opinion, if you're getting back to the basics and doing what its true intention is, they've done a very good job in comparison to others."
"I would rate the stability a nine out of ten."
"If you're looking at an enterprise with centralized control, you can actually push the policies to all your clients' endpoints easily across VPNs."
"I like the EDR feature."
"It's easy to use."
"It has a very good cloud console that's easy to use and install."
"Bitdefender MDR's integration capabilities have been smooth, leveraging cloud-based and various threat intelligence feeds. Bitdefender's array of technologies, including remote mapping and machine learning, with numerous patents, ensures effective threat management."
"Everything is pointing up for them."
"For someone contemplating implementing the solution who is looking for a single product containing many features, Sophos Intercept X is the best available."
"Very stable solution."
"It is quite scalable. You can always add more users. I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten."
"Scalability is good."
"Intercept X Endpoint is the only endpoint security product I know that provides content filtering and application controls."
"The setup was simple; it took us about one day to set up and configure the software."
"The malware detection is the key feature."
"We find the app control and its threat protection to be the best features."

Cons

"The lack of integration with Microsoft Outlook is a significant drawback."
"For improvements, focusing on the commercial viability of markets like India could make it more accessible. The pricing structure, especially for price-sensitive markets like those in Asian countries."
"One area for improvement is the user-friendliness of the UI."
"We need more updates as there are always more threats coming."
"The automatic backup isn't very big."
"One area for improvement is the user-friendliness of the UI. It is not intuitive to manage policies as I have to go through several pages to find necessary information."
"Bitdefender MDR consumes too many resources during scanning which further affects developers' productivity."
"They can improve their support a little bit. We've had some issues with some of the installations in terms of getting the installation, configuration, and flows correct, and sometimes, their support is not as simple and easy to deal with as we'd like."
"While Sophos is helpful technically, their tech support is not so good."
"We are considering switching from this solution as a result of the closer integration needed between the firewall systems and the EDR."
"When we load Intercept X, it puts a load on the device. When it is scanning, it slows down the device. A system with basic specifications completely slows down till the scan is complete. They should improve this part."
"The tool should be made compatible with Linux and Microsoft operating systems."
"The solution is heavy in the usage of resources, you can notice the performance decrease. This should prove in the future."
"While the solution does not seem to lack any features, it should offer better security updates."
"There are not any solutions that are a 10 out of 10. A 10 would be perfect protection with no impact on the performance of the device. This is not the case, there is some impact on the performance of the device."
"Technical support can be improved. There could be shared support, i.e. where someone in Egypt can respond."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the tool's pricing a four out of ten."
"It varies based on the number of licenses."
"Bitdefender fit well for customers with about 50 to 200 users. The price point is great, and you get a lot of bang for your buck."
"I know it is based on the volume and size and also on different multi-year agreements. There are different discounts applied, but I can't really speak about the specifics."
"As far as pricing is concerned, I would rate them not expensive, not cheap."
"You are able to purchase more licenses for the number of devices or servers that you require. There are many other features available but our license does not include them, such as XDR, which is endpoint detection and response. We have not explored the new features as of yet but plan to in the coming future."
"The price of the product is okay, in my opinion. The tool's cost per user and per annum basis is around INR 700 to 800."
"Compared to other solutions, such as CrowdStrike, we are most certainly happy with its pricing. We did a three year-business deal."
"It was fairly and reasonably priced."
"Licensing fees are paid monthly."
"It is a high-cost solution."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing ten out of ten."
"You can pay monthly, but most of our customers choose annual subscriptions because they are less expensive."
