Secure file governance has improved collaboration and automation for client document workflows
The best features are around security, being able to set up different groups, and the governance features are really great. The new AI functionality that they released has been pretty handy. For governance and security, the audit trail capability is excellent. We are able to see when people interact or change files or if something was deleted, and we can go through and review that audit trail. The AI has been great for creating different workflows that we are able to execute. When a form gets submitted into Box - Intelligent Content Management or a file is uploaded, there are certain automations that we can put in place to where it can essentially generate tickets in our system for new users or other tasks.

A SaaS solution that improves efficiency and helps to save time
The tool helps with hidden cloud storage. We can build security practices according to our needs. It is reactive rather than proactive.  The solution must conduct extensive research, build a product based on compression and OCR techniques, and improve scalability.  I have been using the product…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The word Box has become a verb at Morehouse College."
"We use Box as a cloud-based storage service for our employees to share documents, such as presentations, between people, and some of our customers have many gigabytes in files and we set up shared access to them using Box."
"Our employees can access content from anywhere, no-vpn, no special apps, no extra authentications."
"I like that Box makes it easy to deploy virtual machines."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the set of security options that can be set when sharing files with a group."
"Being able to securely invite, share folders, do version control, and comment on files so quickly and easily without using unsecure large email attachments is a major productivity gain."
"The features I have found to be most helpful over other cloud storage platforms are: Collaboration - just not that it exists, but it is easy and user friendly, allowing data that is necessary to be worked on to be brought to the surface; Security - focus on compliance, encryption, enterprise grade management; 3rd Party Integrations - allowing for Box to truly be a platform to be used with other software."
"The application is very light in terms of uploading and downloading files."
"The tool helps with hidden cloud storage. We can build security practices according to our needs. It is reactive rather than proactive."

Cons

"I would love to see the ability to invite collaborators extended to a file level, not just the folder level."
"I find their API to be quite complex and it could be more straightforward."
"If there was a plugin that added some sort of toolbar in Office, that would be great."
"The upload speed needs improvement."
"The security settings are such that if I have a folder with subfolders several levels deep, whatever security setting I have for the parent folder gets inherited at all the subfolders. This has been limiting."
"I truly believe that Box should have a box consulting division which would really enable customers who do not necessarily want to work with ISVs."
"The integration with other products should be improved."
"I wish the search was faster, like a google search."
"The solution must conduct extensive research, build a product based on compression and OCR techniques, and improve scalability."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We are using the free version of the solution. There is a free version and monthly and yearly subscriptions available."
"Better sign a full year's contract to get a discount."
"They are very price competitive when pushed. Initially, they come out with a standard list price, but they are willing to be very competitive. The Box price was pretty much equal to or lower than the Citrix price, and Box has more features."
"I'm in Higher Ed, so we purchase through Internet2-Net+. I absolutely recommend going that route for Higher Ed customers."
"It is expensive per head, as you need the enterprise license to get full security and tools. So negotiate a discount!"
"I have to pay for Box. It could be a little cheaper. On a scale from one to ten, I would give the pricing a five."
"Our pricing and licensing is excellent. I'd tell all Higher Ed customers to talk with Internet2 for excellent pricing and support."
"The pricing may seem steep at first, but delve into the features and you'll soon realize it is incredible value for what you get."
"Iron Mountain Iron Cloud is expensive."
