Broad perspective on strategic management exists but integration challenges hinder efficiency
The product execution part, such as planning and executing, is done through Atlassian tools, specifically Jira. We wanted to upgrade our ability to understand how all these products and teams are working against strategic goals, tracking expenses and time, but the integration between Broadcom Clarity and Atlassian Jira is very cumbersome and not straightforward. Their integration, even with ConnectALL, is just adequate, but it's never going to be great because they are actively trying to sell Rally. To make Broadcom Clarity a perfect product, I think with Jira, nothing can be done. To be fair, I don't know exactly how Rally integration works as I've only read about it, but I know that in marketing papers, it seems amazing with full-on integration, whereas with Jira, it just doesn't work that effectively.

My primary use case for the platform is to manage opportunities, company names, contacts, and meeting details. I use it to keep a detailed diary of customer interactions and plan the next steps. Our company is small, with five salespeople, and we rely on the CRM to track and manage our sales…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We can have a centralized view that we can have in our delivery and business organizations, collaborate on certain levels, and on priorities, investments, and those kinds of things, it is very helpful."
"The support is good and the supporters skilled."
"PPM provides the ability for staff (employees and contractors) in the entire IT organization to track time against specific investments and other work, and we can extract the data to analyze what our resources are working on."
"The reporting tools are superior to what was there before, which was someone crunching through an Excel spreadsheet. I've been able to do status reports through the projects, which has given visibility to my manager, and that's an improvement."
"The competency and available support are quite good, therefore we do not have any issues with support. Every time that we have a case where we need support, it is clarified right away."
"It helps all the portfolio managers and the program managers to take stock of the financial situation at the program and portfolio level, because it rolls up all the financials at the product level."
"Broadcom Clarity PPM is a high-value product; it's amazing, it helps us become productive, it's a nice product, it's helpful, and we can do a lot of things faster through Broadcom Clarity PPM."
"What has been valuable are the workflows that are there today in order to keep our executive staff informed as well as our program managers and department managers."
"The product is stable."

Cons

"Currently the Data Warehouse does not store or archive historical data; anytime you run the Full Load to load it with data, the table is truncated and reloaded with a specific time interval of data."
"I would like to see better dashboards within the tool and better integration with SAP BusinessObjects."
"We want to get to know the CR functionality. We want to get a better picture of how to incorporate CR into our regular functionality."
"Reporting has been an issue for us, so what I would consider a fundamental report that links financials to actuals."
"Some people have expressed interest in how we are doing the time tracking stuff because we have a separate time tracking system, and then within TFS we also track hours and our effort levels there."
"Could be using more updated technologies."
"In the community, I do not see a lot of answers. A lot of people asking lots of questions, but I am not seeing a lot of answers come through."
"While I know it is coming in the roadmap, the risks issues and changes on the new UX would be amazing. However, the risks issues and changes are not in the new UX yet."
"The platform's initial data entry process is time-consuming. It could be more streamlined."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Broadcom Clarity PPM costs us $500K, and that's only for the installation and kick off within the first year. For each succeeding year, it could cost $200K."
"For all the functionalities of the solution, the price is in the market range, since it is a product which offers governance issues and supports the digital transformation, which is where we will go in the next year."
"Pricing is flexible, depending on the customer and the region."
"The subscription is not that expensive."
"Cost-wise, the tool is very expensive and some tools might be able to cater to 80% of the functionality provided by Broadcom Clarity PPM but are not as expensive."
"We're also moving to the latest version for less than $20,000 for a major corporate system. It's just amazing."
"It is hard for them to say, "I have a person on my team who is going to be available, I am going to move that task to them". That requires a project management license, it doesn't require a team member license, so the licensing model does not sometimes support the way the business world is going."
"There are different licensing models with Broadcom Clarity PPM. With the software as a service model, you pay as you go, and if you are on-premises, you can buy a perpetual license and an annual fee for maintenance."
