Low-code platform has accelerated enterprise app delivery and has reduced team size
Mendix has evolved as much as possible, and they are currently planning to automate tasks using AI agentics and other features. Every day presents a learning opportunity for developers using Mendix and the teams involved in improving the platform. One needed improvement I have noticed while working with Mendix is in native mobile development, which still lacks features available in other development environments like Android Studio or Flutter. Certain components that should be available in 2026 are still not present in Mendix, making it difficult to explain limitations to customers. This aspect needs further attention, especially for native mobile development.

"It helps us quickly develop mobile solutions for our clients, plays an important role in the digital transformation of our clients, accelerates existing processes, ensures compliance, and meets enterprise security standards."
"Suite allows you to easily and smoothly integrate with pretty much anything. It is also cloud-enabled. It provides a full Cloud Foundry-driven cloud environment with one-click deployment."
"I enjoy the low-code nature of the product; it's user-friendly, very easy to handle, and the product was easy to set up."
"The ability to deploy functionality daily, weekly, or monthly has greatly increased our competitive advantage in the market."
"Enables us to rapidly create a complex application; we are also able to customize features that stakeholders in the corporation want to see, something that could not be done with other software, and our workflows and processes have evolved and improved, as the fast iterations allow us to be nimble, get feedback from users, and do rapid updates."
"Mendix has made a great deal of effort to provide its developers a healthy, modern environment for developing. First of all, it adopts Agile methodology by creating a SCRUM-based app where you can handle your user stories. Next comes version control, which really allows multiple team members to collaborate quite easily. And last but not least, Mendix modeler, which is your IDE for developing Mendix apps."
"Excellent support is offered for Mendix"
"Micro flows, because of the ease of use for complex development structures Wide variety of in app store Widgets such as Deep Link, Active Directory integration, graphs (bar/spider charts), and geo location functionality Ability to customize the style sheets Mobile development framework Java integration with Mendix Remote debugging The ease of use for complex development structures SAP integration"
"Right now, if any company or client asks me for a low-code solution in Industry 4.0 space, I would just say, "You don't have to spend money on doing an assessment, Mendix is your go-to.""

Cons

"There is a need for API-based development which offers completely customized functionality."
"Mendix could improve by allowing the customization of different programming languages, such as Python and C++."
"You need experienced programmers and developers to understand this solution."
"We'd like to be able to write in C Sharp to develop code for Mendix."
"In recent years, the IDE has been more buggy and slower, and although there have been more features added, I would like to see more stability, as some areas that used to work for a fairly long time are now slower in my development, which feels like a step back."
"From Mendix 6 until 7, options on creating mobile apps have improved, but offline capabilities are not mature enough."
"ROIs at this stage is not good because of the high license fees."
"One thing I would like to improve is the support system offered by Mendix. It can sometimes take a while to get the help I need when I'm using Mendix."
"In the beginning, it is difficult to learn and work with."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Licensing costs are similar to those for all other IT technology, but they vary by region."
"Mendix is not open source, but its license cost is cheap, particularly when compared to the Appian license. The license model would depend on how many users you have and how many applications you are creating. If you are creating a single app, you just need to have a single app license, so it's free. If you want a multiple app license to cover two thousand or three thousand users, for example, internal users or external users, then you need to pay for the license. There's also a license model for above three thousand or four thousand, or five thousand internal and external users."
"Initially, we started with a year for approximately $25,000, and if we need to expand the number of seats then we will increase it."
"I would not recommend the solution to small and medium-sized businesses because it’s expensive. It’s great for big organizations. I rate the pricing as a three out of ten."
"Its cost is higher than competitors. The cost mostly includes licensing. It is charged per user. The cost model could be better. When you have a big company, what does per user mean? If I have a company where I have 40,000 people who will go to access it but only 200 do, how do you license it and who do you pay for? If they hit it once, do you pay for it? The licensing is complex for a big company. It is easy for us to buy all we can eat, get an enterprise license agreement, and call it good."
"The solution is a bit expensive compared to others"
"There is a license required to use Mendix. The solution's price is high, but it is best suited for enterprise companies that have the budget. It is not for small or medium-sized businesses."
"Pricing used to be complex, but Mendix has improved that quite a bit."
