Check Point Application Control provides granular visibility and control over applications and web traffic to enhance security, productivity, and compliance.
Check Point Application Control can be improved with faster updates for emerging applications. While the signature database is comprehensive, new apps or app features sometimes appear before signatures are updated. A faster update process or a community-driven signature model could help keep policies current. Additionally, simpler policy management for large organizations is needed, as the policy interface can feel complex in environments with hundreds of rules and multiple user groups. Features like bulk editing, smart suggestions, or policy templates could reduce admin workload. An improvement in reporting and analytics is also essential, as reports are detailed but sometimes hard to digest at a glance. More visual dashboards, trend analysis, or predictive insights would help the team spot operations and issues faster.

Easy to configure, reliable, secure, and has good support
With some specific versions, we are experiencing some issues where the policy configuration has some problems with the parent and child processes. There have been problems with the relationship between the parent and child process, from time to time. I would like to see better reporting and alerting features in the future.

"Its implementation is simple."
"Check Point Application Control offers a wide selection of applications, and even within those, you can configure uploads, downloads, et cetera, on a very granular level."
"Check Point Application Control application I would define it as oxygen: you notice it when it is missing and I say this because we now think it is natural to have this module incorporated in a firewall."
"It does its job well, and it's not causing a lot of trouble."
"The most valuable feature is the whitelisting; I can test the applications and we can also predefine rules for Windows, rules for the application and control."
"This is a basic solution; the policy screen is okay, and it's easy to configure."
"We also like the Change Control. We can control how things get executed. It has signatures for different kinds of protocols."

Cons

"I recommend network upgrades in the next release to meet most company demands and daily changes."
"The whitelisting approach should only be on very specific applications. In which only a server should access a certain application and nothing else. If you miss something, you will have to always be investigating why it doesn't have access or why an application is not working."
"The pricing, setup cost, and licensing of Check Point Application Control are higher than other vendors, but it justifies the features offered."
"Something important to mention is the improvement at the support level. It could be more advanced."
"Check Point Application Control could be improved, particularly regarding the application categorization accuracy as we often face miscategorization issues."

"Seeing the capabilities and features that we are using today, we can say that we could expect an additional feature that could allow us to integrate this management and even security with APIs."

"The initial setup is not straightforward, it was complex. The manuals don't have all the information you need to deploy it."
"The intrusion detection features should also be improved. It is a very good feature but it should be maximized."

"The price of Check Point Application Control is high. The support and ecosystem around the solution are expensive."
"I think application control has become a basic feature and it should be enabled automatically, without having to purchase a separate license for it."
"It's a bit expensive and it could be cheaper, but it's part of business politics."
