Enables on-premise implementation with powerful data processing capabilities
This is the only solution that is possible to install on-premise. Cloudera provides a hybrid solution that combines compute on cloud or on-premises. It includes all machine learning algorithms in the Spark machine learning library. All functionalities needed for a big data platform and ETL are on the platform, eliminating the need for other tools. It is scalable, ready for vertical scaling, and very powerful, offering numerous functionalities and configurations for generative AI.

Handles large data volumes effectively but connection issues require attention
The Oracle NoSQL solution is used primarily for storing data for our web applications. We work alongside the DBA team for this purpose, given that specific departments manage aspects of its use. We choose it specifically to handle large scales of data, such as in one of our bank customer's scenarios using more than nine hundred gigabytes of data.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We're now able to store large volumes of data through Cloudera Distribution for Hadoop. We're able to push large volumes of data to the platform, and that used to be a challenge, especially when storing a terabyte of information. This is the area where Cloudera Distribution for Hadoop improved the organization."
"We had a data warehouse before all the data. We can process a lot more data structures."
"I don't see any performance issues."
"The features I find most valuable is that the solution is that it is easy to install and to work with. It starts with the installation and from there on the management is very simple and centralized."
"Cloudera provides a hybrid solution that combines compute on cloud or on-premises."
"The tool's most interesting features are the distributed file system and unstructured data processing capability. Because we have a lot of unstructured data, like XML and social media logs, these features make it more valuable than the usual data warehousing solutions."
"This is the only solution that is possible to install on-premise."
"The tool can be deployed using different container technologies, which makes it very scalable."
"Oracle NoSQL is pretty scalable."
"The tool is easy to learn."
"We have a support agreement with Oracle, ensuring full support for the product. It is crucial for our public-facing features. Oracle NoSQL is easy to manage and has fast data retrieval. Its compatibility with Oracle Database is seamless, making integration between NoSQL and relational databases smooth and effortless. Oracle NoSQL and NoSQL data replication in our environment works efficiently. Oracle fully supports it, and we can easily configure and manage authentication for the NoSQL database."
"The product meets expectations when it comes to stability."
"NoSQL has high availability. I think it's perfect from a technical perspective. It's quick to run and go."

Cons

"It is quite complicated to configure and install."
"Cloudera Distribution for Hadoop is not always completely stable in some cases, which can be a concern for big data solutions."
"I would like to see an improvement in how the solution helps me to handle the whole cluster."
"The solution does not support multiple languages very well and this means users need to create work-arounds to implement some solutions."
"The procedure for operations could be simplified."
"The user infrastructure and user interface needs to be improved, as well as the performance. The GUI needs to be better."
"The one thing that we struggled with predominately was support. Because it was relatively new, support was always a big issue and I think it's still a bit of an ongoing concern with the team currently managing it."
"The initial setup of Cloudera is difficult."
"Oracle could improve how NoSQL works in containers. I don't think NoSQL needs any new features, but I want to see new features in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. I would like to see some improvements in OCI's building options."
"I would rate Oracle NoSQL six or 6.5 out of ten based on my experience."
"Focusing on making the administration easier compared to other solutions like MongoDB could be beneficial. Simplifying the administrative tasks could enhance the user experience."
"The installation is difficult."
"Handling big data in a user-friendly way is currently a bit of an issue. The dashboard for this needs some work."
