Storage platform has improved data performance and has provided reliable support for my clients
It's difficult to know how DataCore SANsymphony can be improved. I think DataCore SANsymphony could be deployed on Linux environments, which could be a great thing for clients. I would like to see the stabilization of the Veeam implementation in the future, and perhaps the integration or officialization of compatibility with Proxmox and XCP-ng. With Proxmox, it wasn't easy while integrating it with third-party solutions. It's working, but it was a bit difficult to deploy.

Not much required for technical support of this product; it’s easy and simple to use.
Its way of migrating the data is the most valuable feature It knows the right way to migrate the servers from one storage array to another array. Fewer failures. I have been using this product for the last 3 years. I did not face any major issue with deployment. I did not face any major…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"DataCore SANsymphony's stability is okay."
"This flexibility and scalability have helped our organization in practice because it is important for us as it decouples the storage management software from the physical hardware, creating a software layer of intelligence."
"An advantage of SANsymphony is its ease of use, especially when installing or upgrading the system."
"DataCore's ability to seamlessly move virtual volume data between storage pools as well as their synchronous mirroring has made maintenance and disaster recovery planning achievable."
"DataCore has been doing software-defined storage since back before SDS was even a buzzword, and it has provided a great deal of flexibility, performance, and efficiency for our Enterprise SAN."
"Our system is designed to be scalable and flexible, so it can grow and adapt to meet the changing needs of our clients."
"DataCore SANsymphony has improved performance, stability and data security of our datacenter."
"The features I have found most valuable are the active-active, or so-called grid technology, and the integration into our VMware-vCenter."
"I have been using the solution for 6 years."
"Moving data online and swapping legacy disks to new disks without any business impact."
"Its way of migrating the data is the most valuable feature."
"Transparent and online migration of volumes from one tier to another brings about no disruption to server activities while the migration is ongoing."
"On a dedicated mission oriented upon administrative tasks, the automated migration of one storage class to another was efficient and produced swift and silent migration jobs."
"Minimal downtime with fast data migration."

Cons

"Its interface could be better."
"Having an enterprise "Storage Dashboard" that can show capacity, usage, performance, and any issues would be very beneficial."
"The setup was done by our IT partner. It is complex because he also had to set up our iSCSI environment."
"DataCore needs a more efficient and better way to keep track of metrics and counters so that we can do baseline analysis to measure performance."
"Even though it is easy to administrate, the initial installation and configuration can be complicated."
"The area of DataCore SANsymphony that has room for improvement is the support."
"There is room for improvement in the graphical interface."
"SANsymphony is missing some features that vSAN has. For example, vSAN has a special feature called continuous data protection. It provides the ability to go back in time to a given moment. You can see what was on your disk in the past up to two weeks. That's a great feature because ransomware attacks are increasingly common, and that provides you some kind of protection."
"Little performance issue."
"Fewer failures."
"Technical Support: Average."
"Time and cost of resources, to migrate data from one storage to another with minimal business impact is bit tricky, this production does all this in single console without business impact."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing has improved but it is still expensive."
"This solution allows the use of off-the-shelf hardware and charges by the TB of storage."
"It is relatively expensive, and the additional costs for hardware and storage can make it a significant investment for customers."
"This product has a good ratio between quality and price. In many cases, it's less expensive to work with DataCore than other storage systems."
"In my case, the licensing per terabytes is very high and it must be licensed for each extra functionality."
"DataCore SANsymphony's pricing is very high and should be much cheaper."
"The pricing and licensing are better with DataCore."
"Make sure you are made aware of the annual subscription cost when purchasing."
