Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Comes with API services and data analytics features but needs to improve stability
We use the product for API and interface collections.  The tool's most valuable features are API services and data analytics.  Datamatics TruCap+ needs to improve its stability.  I have been working with the product for a month.  I rate the tool's stability an eight out of ten.  The product is…

Pre-trained models work well, but it is very expensive
We have to do manual validation for some of the things due to the OCR engine not being so accurate. For example, S is read as 5, 5 as S, 2 as Z, and Z as 2. In the case of currency, if one dot is missing, it gives a completely incorrect number. These discrepancies should be fixed because if the OCR itself doesn't work properly, then AI doesn't help with that. When AI is used for training models, the AI Center works precisely, but if the data itself is wrong, we can't do anything. If the extraction of data is proper, it definitely helps. However, 20% errors could be reduced if the OCR engine were better. In future updates, I would like to see better handling of issues such as when a dot is missing in currency, for example, with dollars, it should handle that automatically. It's very expensive. If the volume increases, we can't afford to use Document Understanding. We are thinking of moving to another solution because we are expecting 80,000 to 100,000 invoices.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The automation that we have run on a daily basis helps us by saving a lot of time."
"Instead of packages like other RPA tools, I think the repo check-in and check-out feature enables the same in AA."
"In general, when you set up the cloud solution, it's very, very easy."
"The technical support is something that I rely on if I have any queries or if I have to work on another alternate approach."
"We have a very resourceful pipeline to use AA bots in our RPA projects and we are looking to be more engaged with the AA team in deploying these bots."
"What I appreciate most about Automation Anywhere is that it really saves time and reduces a lot of errors, which would have happened if we had to use manual work; so it has that aspect of time saving and reducing errors that are usually made when doing that work manually."
"The simplicity of the tool is a plus point, as it does not require one to be from coding background to work on it."
"It improves accuracy and reduces manpower. It is easy to learn."
"The tool's most valuable features are API services and data analytics."
"The solution removes manual processes and reduces human dependency. It takes a lot of effort to go through each physical mail or email, extract the data and transfer it to Excel. However, the solution automates the process and works 24/7. The tool gives a complete package to process and understand documents. The valuable features include taxonomy modification, classification, workstation, etc. There are out-of-the-box features like ML models which you can custom build. We have saved time with UiPath Document Understanding. We have seen a 50 percent improvement in scanning processes. Compared to humans, the tool runs 24/7. The human error rate has also been reduced. Our human error rate is five percent now compared to the previous 15 percent. UiPath Document Understanding has also freed up our staff who now spend more time on critical tasks."
"UiPath enables us to automate manual tasks and duplicate them easily. The processes are highly accurate."
"Machine learning is the most valuable feature of UiPath Document Understanding."
"This solution has played a significant role in drastically reducing human errors by ensuring that 95% to 98% of tasks are done through the system."
"With Document Understanding, tasks that would normally take eight hours manually can be completed in three to five hours. It still requires some human intervention, but 90 percent of the processing can be automated."
"Previously, we needed three to four people for validating invoices, now we have scaled down to one part-time person who is mostly engaged in other responsibilities, with invoicing tasks occupying only around five percent of their work time."
"I found UiPath Document Understanding helpful in automating different types of processes. One process can be split into multiple processes or sub-processes. You can also use it for ID management or extracting data from IDs, such as passports or government-issued IDs, which I like."
"One of the most valuable features is the intelligent recognition of the fields. The algorithm is able to recognize them based on the pattern. Also, the machine learning model enables you to use predefined solutions. The machine-learning capabilities of the solution are very cool."

Cons

"I would like the ability to extract the code. You can go line by line, then open up each line of code and dig into the details, but it would be nice to extract all of the lines of code and all of the details into a document so we could read through everything. Right now, there is no way to really consume all of the code at once, except line by line, which can be fairly time consuming if we don't really know what we are looking for."
"I would like to have the ability to schedule bots by whichever one is available."
"Automation Anywhere is a tool. It is not able to go ahead and extract the hand-written documents."
"The integration in UiPath is much better. Automation Anywhere's latest version has improved. It's fine but not as good as UiPath."
"The Automation Anywhere University courses have helped us, but it could improve some things, like how the courses are designed."
"Automation Anywhere should have more Excel-related functionality."
"We tried Citrix six months ago, but the solution that they gave us did not work in our environment."
"From the IQ Bot perspective, frankly speaking, they still have to improve a lot... My expectation from a straight, technical, architectural point of view was that I would be able to create my own algorithm and integrate it. But with IQ Bot, I am not able to integrate anything..."
"Datamatics TruCap+ needs to improve its stability."
"The interface has room for improvement."
"UiPath Document Understanding can improve its handwriting and signature recognition."
"An area for improvement in UiPath Document Understanding is data extraction from scanned documents. It could be better because I've observed a ten percent failure or flaw whenever the vendor scans and converts documents into PDFs."
"UiPath Document Understanding has difficulty identifying handwritten documents, and there is room for improvement."
"We have to do manual validation for some of the things due to the OCR engine not being so accurate. For example, S is read as 5, 5 as S, 2 as Z, and Z as 2. In the case of currency, if one dot is missing, it gives a completely incorrect number."
"The signature and handwriting are a pain point for the OCR and have room for improvement."
"UiPath Document Understanding's ability to handle diverse document formats, including scans and signatures, needs improvement."
"The signature comparison feature of UiPath Document Understanding could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If we count the integrations that we have done with Appian, which is where a lot of our savings is from, we are well over a million dollars in savings. This is from only doing development for about a year and a half."
"I have heard that Automation Anywhere is expensive."
"It is one of the most affordable RPA solutions, and as for licensing, they offer a community edition that greatly helps anyone who aspires to learn about the product before buying the enterprise solution."
"The solution itself is free unless we want to add the support option but we have to pay for the bots we use."
"It is cost-efficient in terms of licensing. I found their support good when I was working for the airline client. However, I hear from my managers here that the support price for Tier 3 or premium is a little higher. That is why we are not going for Automation Anywhere. Its price was okay for our client, but for us, it seems expensive."
"The enterprise version is expensive for small businesses and individual users."
"Cost-wise, it is fine. A lot of medium businesses prefer Automation Anywhere. The development cost is also lower."
"Automation Anywhere pricing and licensing are competitive compared to the other automation vendors."
Information not available
"Document Understanding's price is quite high."
"We received a 60-day free trial before having to purchase a license to continue using UiPath Document Understanding."
"One of the biggest challenges we face with UiPath is the pricing structure."
"I do not know about its price, but for large organizations, UiPath is cheap, whereas, for small organizations, UiPath is high. For example, if 500 licenses are needed for one company, UiPath is cheap. If only 5 licenses are required, UiPath is costly."
"It is expensive. The license cost for UiPath Studio has risen to around 3.5 lakhs last year, and I am uncertain how much the increase will be this year. They have also increased the bot prices."
"UiPath Document Understanding compared to the competitors is high."
"The last time we implemented UiPath Document Understanding the price was high."
"The price is on the high end."
