Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Comes with API services and data analytics features but needs to improve stability
We use the product for API and interface collections.  The tool's most valuable features are API services and data analytics.  Datamatics TruCap+ needs to improve its stability.  I have been working with the product for a month.  I rate the tool's stability an eight out of ten.  The product is…

Pre-trained models work well, but it is very expensive
We have to do manual validation for some of the things due to the OCR engine not being so accurate. For example, S is read as 5, 5 as S, 2 as Z, and Z as 2. In the case of currency, if one dot is missing, it gives a completely incorrect number. These discrepancies should be fixed because if the OCR itself doesn't work properly, then AI doesn't help with that. When AI is used for training models, the AI Center works precisely, but if the data itself is wrong, we can't do anything. If the extraction of data is proper, it definitely helps. However, 20% errors could be reduced if the OCR engine were better. In future updates, I would like to see better handling of issues such as when a dot is missing in currency, for example, with dollars, it should handle that automatically. It's very expensive. If the volume increases, we can't afford to use Document Understanding. We are thinking of moving to another solution because we are expecting 80,000 to 100,000 invoices.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The error handling and troubleshooting are very good, and it is easy for a developer to know what happened in any particular line of code."
"Automation Anywhere has improved my organization by automating many rule-based and nonjudgmental processes in domains like telecommunications, human resources, financial services, and daily or monthly reporting."
"The automation that we have run on a daily basis helps us by saving a lot of time."
"The technical support is good. If it is required that they provide their resources, they will send their resources to your organization to support you in terms of development and technical support."
"Many of our tasks are automated using AA and due to ease in handling, it becomes the first choice in terms of RPA tool."
"This is the right platform and choice, as every business needs to be at this pace and cannot ignore automation if you really want your company to get to the next level and be at par with competitors."
"In Automation Anywhere, I appreciate the main UIs very much; they are very intuitive."
"It's pretty simple and non-invasive."
"The tool's most valuable features are API services and data analytics."
"Recently, they have introduced GenAI, which allows us to extract documents even faster and without hurdles."
"It is a pretty scalable tool, and it works well for big companies."
"UiPath Document Understanding is user-friendly, with an easy-to-use self-trained model, and the OCR it provides does a good job even with scanned PDFs."
"The validation process is easy. The Validation Station shows you the extracted data on one side and the document on the other, so you can easily scroll down and check if the data is accurate. You just need to click a checkbox. If you don't think it is fine, you have the option to add an exception. Based on that exception, you can create multiple conditions for how to address the same issue if it happens again."
"The best feature, in my opinion, is, we can train the document using a machine-learning classifier."
"The machine learning (ML) extractor is valuable. It helps in extracting information from even unstructured documents. It can sometimes also extract information from a written document. Without much manual intervention, it is able to process the documents. This is a unique feature of UiPath Document Understanding."
"The most valuable feature in UiPath Document Understanding is the identification of the fields column in the PDF documents."
"UiPath Document Understanding offers valuable features like Arabic language support, which is crucial for effective communication and automation in the Arabic-speaking world."

Cons

"An option should be provided to disable the flow and dual-mode since those are not used often by the developers, and hence take up extra space on the screen."
"The starting price, which is a one-off fee is a bit high and this may deter mid and small-sized companies from acquiring and decide to shun the platform."
"The initial implementation of Automation Anywhere regarding the elastic search and database set connection can be a little difficult. However, I am skilled enough to get through it. There were some balancing issues that my other team members had to manage. They are having difficulty in balancing when I checked the architecture properly. We determined later that there was no need for a load balance to be done on the servers. We didn't do any load balancing and then the elastic search was not done."
"I'd love to see the ability to build web or mobile applications that are integrated with Automation Anywhere bots, so that a user can work on a web interface directly. Then, it can be linked to the Automation Anywhere bots in the background. They just hit a button, and all the data or information will be used by the bot to do some process in the back end."
"I would wish for a greater focus on citizen development, which is a priority for our company."
"Automation Anywhere risks falling behind by focusing solely on Robotic Process Automation when competitors offer more versatile and adaptable solutions that integrate AI for a more intelligent automation experience."
"Although Automation Anywhere is a GUI-based platform with drag-and-drop functionality, non-technical business users struggle to implement it due to the complexities of operationalizing automation within a business context."
"In a cost-sensitive industry like banking, where automation needs to prove clear ROI, a more flexible pricing structure would assist organizations in expanding automation more aggressively without feeling constrained by budget considerations."
"Datamatics TruCap+ needs to improve its stability."
"If there were more integrations with Veracode or the AWS server, so we don't have to completely transfer our data and keep data on our servers, that might increase security."
"Sometimes we have challenges when we need to read something like a barcode, so we must use the Cisco algorithm to solve the issue, or I have to ask developers for help specifically to capture this kind of information. There are other processes, such as refunds, that we still must do manually because there is no way to use automation to solve this issue."
"The results of classifying patient documents within UiPath Document Understanding need to be more accurate."
"UiPath Document Understanding's ability to read handwritten files has room for improvement."
"They can include some features in utilizing the product of assessment understanding, or more specifically, a better efficient handling of the ML skill, which right now is not that efficient."
"There is also room for improvement in long-running table extraction. If a table continues for more than 10 pages, in some cases, we have observed that it only extracts six or seven pages and skips the last pages."
"There could be a feature similar to ChatGPT where when you ask about a document, you get an answer about what is there in that document. If possible, this kind of feature can be incorporated so that you do not need to open a file and take the value. It should directly detect that instead of opening and validating the document. Such a feature will speed up the process."
"The extraction can be better. ABBYY FlexiCapture has more capabilities than Document Understanding. It can also extract automatically without training, whereas with Document Understanding, we need to train everything."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing and licensing are definitely moderate to costly but easily recoverable by achieving ROI quickly."
"The price is very reasonable."
"Automation Anywhere is cheaper than UiPath and Blue Prism. From a market point of view, Automation Anywhere is reasonable. Any organization can adopt Automation Anywhere."
"Automation Anywhere is somewhat expensive. The prices are slightly higher, but if you need something, you must pay for it."
"We have seen the tangible benefits of taking monotonous work off people's plates, creating capacity, and cost reductions."
"Automation Anywhere's pricing falls within the mid-range, but the long-term benefits outweigh the initial investment."
