Comes with API services and data analytics features but needs to improve stability
We use the product for API and interface collections.  The tool's most valuable features are API services and data analytics.  Datamatics TruCap+ needs to improve its stability.  I have been working with the product for a month.  I rate the tool's stability an eight out of ten.  The product is…

Pre-trained models work well, but it is very expensive
We have to do manual validation for some of the things due to the OCR engine not being so accurate. For example, S is read as 5, 5 as S, 2 as Z, and Z as 2. In the case of currency, if one dot is missing, it gives a completely incorrect number. These discrepancies should be fixed because if the OCR itself doesn't work properly, then AI doesn't help with that. When AI is used for training models, the AI Center works precisely, but if the data itself is wrong, we can't do anything. If the extraction of data is proper, it definitely helps. However, 20% errors could be reduced if the OCR engine were better. In future updates, I would like to see better handling of issues such as when a dot is missing in currency, for example, with dollars, it should handle that automatically. It's very expensive. If the volume increases, we can't afford to use Document Understanding. We are thinking of moving to another solution because we are expecting 80,000 to 100,000 invoices.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The tool's most valuable features are API services and data analytics."
"What I appreciate most about UiPath Document Understanding is that it's a good introduction tool for customers to use, and it can be deployed quickly."
"It is a pretty scalable tool, and it works well for big companies."
"Recently, they have introduced GenAI, which allows us to extract documents even faster and without hurdles."
"Previously, we needed three to four people for validating invoices, now we have scaled down to one part-time person who is mostly engaged in other responsibilities, with invoicing tasks occupying only around five percent of their work time."
"UiPath Document Understanding is user-friendly, with an easy-to-use self-trained model, and the OCR it provides does a good job even with scanned PDFs."
"The best feature is pre-labeling, as it eliminates the need to manually label each data point."
"One of the most valuable features is the intelligent recognition of the fields. The algorithm is able to recognize them based on the pattern. Also, the machine learning model enables you to use predefined solutions. The machine-learning capabilities of the solution are very cool."
"I believe the most valuable feature is the prebuilt algorithm for extracting information from foreign invoices."

Cons

"Datamatics TruCap+ needs to improve its stability."
"The extraction can be better. ABBYY FlexiCapture has more capabilities than Document Understanding. It can also extract automatically without training, whereas with Document Understanding, we need to train everything."
"I would like to see more integration of artificial intelligence. That's being implemented, but it would be a massive improvement to the solution's document processing. If UiPath achieves intelligent document processing, it will be far better than anything on the market. There are currently some limitations with the fields that could be addressed using a GPT engine. With an integrated AI model, you wouldn't need to create your taxonomy. You would only need to provide some prompts, such as "What is the property name?" It will store that as a variable."
"They can include some features in utilizing the product of assessment understanding, or more specifically, a better efficient handling of the ML skill, which right now is not that efficient."
"Right now, we are trying to use Instabase, which is another tool for document understanding. It may be one step ahead. It is faster than UiPath."
"Sometimes, when the number of items is very large, the solution doesn't properly identify them."
"The rising annual licensing cost of UiPath's Document Understanding product is a major turnoff for users."
"If the volume increases, we can't afford to use Document Understanding. We are thinking of moving to another solution because we are expecting 80,000 to 100,000 invoices."
"UiPath Document Understanding has difficulty identifying handwritten documents, and there is room for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It's expensive, but you can reduce the price per license by getting more licenses. Overall, the pricing is okay."
"The last time we implemented UiPath Document Understanding the price was high."
"UiPath has a higher upfront cost, but its Document Understanding feature is not a significant additional expense compared to the overall platform."
"For the licensing part, in our company, we initially started off with a monthly plan, but yearly plans are also there. Cost-wise, UiPath Document Understanding is good since it provides flexibility in its pricing."
"The cost per license is significant, approaching ten thousand dollars."
"UiPath Document Understanding offers fair pricing, primarily if you consider the number of resources and human work the solution reduces, plus the ROI you can get from it."
"I do not know about its price, but for large organizations, UiPath is cheap, whereas, for small organizations, UiPath is high. For example, if 500 licenses are needed for one company, UiPath is cheap. If only 5 licenses are required, UiPath is costly."
"One of the biggest challenges we face with UiPath is the pricing structure."
