Comes with API services and data analytics features but needs to improve stability
We use the product for API and interface collections.  The tool's most valuable features are API services and data analytics.  Datamatics TruCap+ needs to improve its stability.  I have been working with the product for a month.  I rate the tool's stability an eight out of ten.  The product is…

Pre-trained models work well, but it is very expensive
We have to do manual validation for some of the things due to the OCR engine not being so accurate. For example, S is read as 5, 5 as S, 2 as Z, and Z as 2. In the case of currency, if one dot is missing, it gives a completely incorrect number. These discrepancies should be fixed because if the OCR itself doesn't work properly, then AI doesn't help with that. When AI is used for training models, the AI Center works precisely, but if the data itself is wrong, we can't do anything. If the extraction of data is proper, it definitely helps. However, 20% errors could be reduced if the OCR engine were better. In future updates, I would like to see better handling of issues such as when a dot is missing in currency, for example, with dollars, it should handle that automatically. It's very expensive. If the volume increases, we can't afford to use Document Understanding. We are thinking of moving to another solution because we are expecting 80,000 to 100,000 invoices.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The tool's most valuable features are API services and data analytics."
"UiPath Document Understanding's image file extraction feature is the best in any OCR solution."
"With Document Understanding, tasks that would normally take eight hours manually can be completed in three to five hours. It still requires some human intervention, but 90 percent of the processing can be automated."
"The best feature, in my opinion, is, we can train the document using a machine-learning classifier."
"In UiPath Document Understanding, I use two extractors. One is the Intelligent Form Extractor and the other is the Machine Learning Extractor. The first one is very useful and user-friendly. When we have a single template or two to three templates, Intelligent Form Extractor is much easier to use. But if we have multiple templates, it's better to go with ML Extractor as you can train the model with different templates."
"Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten...The solution's technical support is good."
"Invoice processing is the most valuable feature. Most of my customers use Document Understanding for invoice processing. That's one of the most common use cases. Typically, each customer starts their RPA journey with the finance department because that's the area where you can see the most benefit."
"It is a pretty scalable tool, and it works well for big companies."
"UiPath Document Understanding cuts down a lot of order processing time and agents' time, saving both human effort, which in turn translates to better cost efficiency."

Cons

"Datamatics TruCap+ needs to improve its stability."
"I encountered difficulties with UiPath Document Understanding in determining the appropriate OCR to use for certain files."
"At times, the scanning functionality of the tool may fail to generate accurate output, resulting in the need for manual input."
"One area of improvement for UiPath Document Understanding is the accuracy of handwritten documents. While the solution supports handwritten documents, the accuracy percentage is not as high as desired."
"If the volume increases, we can't afford to use Document Understanding. We are thinking of moving to another solution because we are expecting 80,000 to 100,000 invoices."
"Currently, we have to train multiple templates because the column size and row size change in each PDF."
"Extending the trial period for UiPath Document Understanding from three to six months would allow organizations to evaluate their capabilities thoroughly."
"Sometimes we have challenges when we need to read something like a barcode, so we must use the Cisco algorithm to solve the issue, or I have to ask developers for help specifically to capture this kind of information. There are other processes, such as refunds, that we still must do manually because there is no way to use automation to solve this issue."
"The UiPath APIs lack reliable table parsing."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I do not know about its price, but for large organizations, UiPath is cheap, whereas, for small organizations, UiPath is high. For example, if 500 licenses are needed for one company, UiPath is cheap. If only 5 licenses are required, UiPath is costly."
"The solution’s cost increases for machine learning or artificial intelligence because we have to go for UiPath Orchestrator."
"Its pricing can be looked into because it is on the higher side for developing economies, such as India, where the cost of labor is a little cheaper compared to advanced technologies."
"UiPath Document Understanding is considered a bit expensive compared to other options like Microsoft Azure, which can offer similar quality at a more affordable rate."
"The last time we implemented UiPath Document Understanding the price was high."
"UiPath is a pricey tool for small customers."
"On a scale of one to ten with ten being the most expensive, I rate UiPath Document Understanding an eight on cost."
"I used the community version, so there was no fee."
