Dell Avamar is praised for its stability, reliability, and effective performance in virtual and physical infrastructure backup and restore.
I never had problems with the stability of DD Boost.
In the two years I’ve worked with it, we only encountered one hard drive failure, which was easy to replace.
Apart from one incident where the appliance failed to start due to a hardware issue, we have not had stability problems.

Room For Improvement

DD Boost struggles with performance, usability, high pricing, integration issues, slow backups, and insufficient support, lacking direct ransomware protection.
Dell Avamar needs UI, backup speed, cloud integration, and scalability improvements, with concerns over pricing and technical support.
Cleanup processes can slow down backup and restoration speeds during that period.
Dell Technologies are struggling to back up Office 365 and some open-source hypervisors like Proxmox.
The cost of support has become high, especially with the split between Dell and VMware, now charged per core.
There are instances where backups fail on certain applications, which is an area that could be improved.
While Dell Avamar is a good product, the pricing is very high.

Setup Cost

DD Boost is seen as pricey, with flexible licensing and negotiation options, valued for its features but costly.
Dell Avamar offers varying pricing experiences, with praised setup ease, but cost-effectiveness compared to competitors like Veeam is debated.
However, the recurring support costs are significant, and the price has risen after the Dell and VMware split.
Pricing is competitive.
The hardware, license, and all components are presented together collectively as customers see it as a complete proposal and will not break it down between license cost or hardware cost.
I don't currently have detailed knowledge about the pricing, however, it is geared towards enterprise businesses and might be on the higher side.
