Reliable hardware has kept critical data center services running nonstop with minimal intervention
I wanted to highlight that sometimes the patches from the firmware are not compatible with the hardware, which can crash the operating system and mess up the RAID configuration. If the patches are corrupted from the software level, we can roll back from safe mode, but if they crash on a hardware level, the whole box goes down, and it is very difficult to get the server online. The product cost is fine, but the licensing cost is much higher. For the licensing regarding Dell storage and warranty, if they could give us some discounts for extending the warranty on a Dell part, that would be beneficial for my organization.

With a perfect record for uptime, the solution ensures a return on investment
Since it is a legacy tool, there is a need to change it for flexibility. I think now it has improved because the security is very good. It is very secure for the performance of the machine critical application service, and it is very good. I don't know how to speak more on improvement needed because it's a good enough tool. However, depending on the application, it's limited. Not a lot of applications run on HPE NonStop. It is not flexible because I know that because of the compatibility of Java with HPE NonStop. When we are using Java, the performance is not good.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The server is more common for the mass market and although it is nothing special, what stands out is the good after-sales service provided."
"The installation is easy."
"What I like about Dell PowerEdge MX-Series is the whole integration, where you do not have a lot of cables, which is a strong point compared to others on the market."
"The solution is made with high-quality hardware."
"The solution offers remarkable flexibility, reliability, and extensive software support."
"Overall, Dell PowerEdge MX- Series are solid products."
"The tool's most valuable features are high availability and scalability. Its integration is easy."
"It helps us to manage multiple chassis from a single website."
"Feature-wise, the most valuable one is the fact that it has 100 hundred percent uptime every year. Secondly, it is stable."
"We don't have any issues with the stability of HPE NonStop."
"The stability of HPE NonStop is good."

Cons

"The costing could be improved as it is somewhat expensive."
"I suggest adding an additional network card within the blades, specifically for connectivity."
"Dell support should be faster."
"For the support of Dell PowerEdge MX- Series, I would rate it a seven; for EMC storage, Dell is not performing as well as EMC, but for servers, they are good, so I would say seven or eight."
"We have had some issues with the vendor's support that we have received. When you open up a support case with Dell they send a partner to assist you and in our experience, they are lacking knowledge about the solution. There are times when you need professional support from the vendor that knows the solution well."
"The caching is a bit weak, making the hardware non-responsive, especially on hypervisor layers like ESXi or Hyper-V."
"There is room for improvement in scalability."
"One area for improvement is VLAN configuration."
"HPE NonStop could improve by having infrastructure management."
"It would be helpful if they brought the price down."
"It is not flexible...Not a lot of applications run on HPE NonStop."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution's pricing is slightly higher."
"The product is neither expensive nor cheap. It is manageable for medium enterprises as well."
"It was budget friendly."
"Dell PowerEdge M price is comparable to other solutions but cheaper than IBM. However, the IBM solution is a higher grade solution whereas Dell PowerEdge M is a medium-level solution."
"If we would not have gone with the vendor we might have been charged unnecessarily for packages we did not need."
"The product is budget-friendly. The initial cost for each server was around 10,000 euros. It's a standard price, not too high or too low."
"The pricing of PowerEdge Next is higher than it was before."
"I know we get three years basic, and the on-site licensing model for business seems fine. I wouldn't pay for a support plus or anything."
"HPE NonStop is definitely on the higher end."
"The price of the solution is too high. If they lowered the price substantially it would open up more opportunities. It's considered a replacement for the old 9000 boxes of HP. If it had a lower price, we would be able to compete in the financial, and other sectors and other solutions such as Terraform. Having a high price makes other solutions more attractive."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is very cheap, and ten is very expensive, I rate the pricing an eight."
