Offers a good interface and return on investment to users
My impression of the scalability of the product is good. You can put a lot of memory in the tool now, and you have a good choice in processors, so you can go wherever you want or do whatever you want with your money. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The server is more common for the mass market and although it is nothing special, what stands out is the good after-sales service provided."
"I rate Dell PowerEdge a ten out of ten as it is a great tool with perfect support."
"It is easy to manage by an administrator and we can spend valuable time on other IT issues."
"The Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) support is notably better than that of other servers."
"The initial setup is straightforward."
"Regarding technical support from Dell, I find them to be one of the best support providers in the industry right now."
"It allows us to consolidate our infrastructure very efficiently, enabling us to deploy eight servers in a seven-unit density."
"The iDRAC feature is most useful for server management in Dell, comparable to HP iLO."
"I like the robustness of the machine. Similar performance could likely be achieved with other configurations, but this machine is very stable."
"We've got a few of them, because we needed some really large machines. So far, they've been working pretty good."
"This product is very reliable."
"Superdome X is a system that can compete in terms of performance and uptime, but it's now standard. That is the great value. There are competitors like IBM, for example, but IBM has a propietary operating system. With Superdome X, you have a system that can run Windows, Red Hat, or VMware, but in a mission critical server."
"The most valuable features of HPE Superdome X are speed, performance, and resilience."
"One of the really cool things about Superdome is, depending on the model you choose, you can put 8-16 blades in it."
"SDX gave us a very large RAM and we need that for the large-scale graph-handling applications."

Cons

"The firmware updates for the product need improvement."
"Technical support is not good."
"It requires time to transition to the new generation."
"The caching is a bit weak, making the hardware non-responsive, especially on hypervisor layers like ESXi or Hyper-V."
"Can be improved by being proactive in making changes that could improve the solution."
"More interconnections with third party equipment and limited I/O selection."
"In terms of improvement, it should also offer a hyper-converged option."
"Dell support should be faster."
"I'd like to see the onboarding of some storage class memory to really expand the already very large RAM, into something that could be even much bigger."
"In this specific model, it could be beneficial to have a server configuration similar to Cisco, like the kind offered in HPE Superdome Flex X280. The ability to separate the chassis is important because we are forced to use two chassis even with lower loads. So introducing more flexibility in the Superdome environment would be helpful."
"It would be helpful if you could do the maintenance completely online."
"What would make it better from my point of view is if HPE spent more time on testing with the actual built-in Red Hat Linux drivers, as opposed to always trying to say, "Use our driver.""
"I know we support Windows and I think it's Red Hat, and I'd like to see more OSs supported."
"HPE Superdome X can improve by adding a lot of cloud capabilities to allow this solution to be cloud-ready in case the customer wants to move it to the cloud."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Dell PowerEdge M price is comparable to other solutions but cheaper than IBM. However, the IBM solution is a higher grade solution whereas Dell PowerEdge M is a medium-level solution."
"It was budget friendly."
"If we would not have gone with the vendor we might have been charged unnecessarily for packages we did not need."
"The cost varies significantly depending on the server's configuration and can range from $10,000 to $60,000 for the same server line family."
"The product is budget-friendly. The initial cost for each server was around 10,000 euros. It's a standard price, not too high or too low."
"The solution's pricing is slightly higher."
"The pricing of PowerEdge Next is higher than it was before."
"The product is neither expensive nor cheap. It is manageable for medium enterprises as well."
"The pricing is not very cheap. I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, with one being very inexpensive, and ten being very expensive."
"There is a very expensive one-time cost with no licensing fees."
