It shows us not only when utilization is high, but also when it's low
An online app or download would be useful for the next release, possibly even a phone app that I could use to view my dashboard when I am stationed remotely. Besides a call center, we have a lot of employees in the field and on the road, therefore for management to have access to those numbers quickly, it would be very helpful.

Simplifies setup and requires user interface enhancement
Nagios XI is easy to install, which sets it apart from other open-source solutions I've tried. Typically, setting up a monitoring system on Linux involves cloning files from GitHub, building it, and installing many dependencies, but with Nagios XI, it wasn't like that. Nagios XI simplifies our setup and reduces the time spent configuring monitoring tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It shows us not only when utilization is high, but also when it is low."
"It has allowed us to save time, and this is extremely valuable as a company."
"It allows us to easily troubleshoot computer issues instead of calling a tech person or do the troubleshooting ourselves and taking the time to do it."
"MetricsView allows us to keep an eye on computer memory, internal network availability, processors, etc. Letting us know where our issues are coming from based on those numbers."
"Nagios XI allows my customer to monitor literally thousands of network and computing endpoints (both hardware and software) in real time, including custom derived SNMP polling and traps."
"Nagios has good scalability."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its simplicity."
"For anyone who is interested in using this solution, I would recommend it."
"Our infrastructure is now under monitoring proactively and we don't have to wait for complaints from the customers or internal operation team to inform regarding any issue with the service."
"This is a very good solution and it is simple to use, for any company."
"The most valuable feature is the monitoring of processes."
"It is an open-source platform with valuable features for performance and stability."

Cons

"An online app or download would be useful for the next release, possibly even a phone app that I could use to view my dashboard when I am stationed remotely."
"The way Nagios displays information isn't easy for a new user to understand. It's not intuitive enough. You need to read some tutorials or be trained to understand what it's displaying. Also, I think it needs more features to improve network visibility because there are some things you can't detect."
"I think that the community needs to concentrate development to get a standard GUI (Adagios is a side project) and gives the user a better notification system."
"Nagios XI can improve its GUI for users with a new look."
"From an alerting point of view, some graphics and metrics don't work properly with Nagios XI as they do with Checkmk."
"The GUI could be improved."
"The installation and monitoring need improvement."
"Nagios XI doesn't provide scripting. For example, if we have built up multiple IPX tunnels from a base location to a data center location and want to monitor or trigger an alert if the tunnel goes down, Nagios XI does not automatically send alerts notifying us that the tunnel is down."
"The important separation between Interface and Core to maintain historical plugins and methods generate complexity that makes Nagios unusable for repeat work."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available

"The licensing fees for this solution are approximately $3,000 USD per year."
"You can grow into the higher-priced scale as they learn how to utilize the features for Nagios XI."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want…
