Provides a comprehensive view by integrating with other monitoring systems
There may be an issue since there are many tools like Splunk involved in network monitoring. From an IP perspective, Dynatrace is performing well. If they want to develop in network monitoring, they can, as it's part of their product line. It's not rocketry, so they can accomplish it. If I, as an SI, look at it from an enterprise perspective, considering the cost from the client, I prefer not to go with multiple systems, as they don't provide a complete 360-degree view. They need to improve on claims about being an enterprise system. The definition of enterprise is loosely used, however, from a holistic security perspective, including infrastructure, network, ports, software, applications, transactions, and databases, there are areas lacking, especially in network monitoring tools.

I use JenniferSoft to monitor the performance and transaction traces of our applications The most valuable feature of the solution is the ability to divide the authorization of users because a lot of the people in our organization have different authorizations. The dashboard is a valuable…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"PureStack, I just love it. It can give visibility from the end-user perspective right through to the code level. That's the most valuable feature."
"We also got know many internal code bugs which could have caused memory leaks or other issues which we were not able to catch during that development phase."
"The dashboard gives us something to show managers and our business where the problems are. That's really been eye-opening for them. They can see, yes, this tool has been a good investment. They can see where the problems are and how we can take advantage of it for making those necessary corrections."
"We got firsthand RCA as soon as we finished implementation."
"Dynatrace has allowed us to pinpoint quickly any pain points our clients experience with our applications and respond accordingly."
"The alerting systems are definitely the most valuable feature. The AI engine, "Davis," has proved to be a game-changer for us, as it helps to alert us when there are anomalies found in our applications or in their performance... letting the Davis engine find those anomalies and push them to the top, especially as they relate to business impact, is very valuable to us."
"We leverage on Dynatrace technology to trace and identify issues in the test environment before launching to production."
"It has given us one simple dashboard to monitor all of our servers and web applications."
"The dashboard is a valuable feature."

Cons

"When compared with other tools, the experience needs improvement. I would like them to build out the interactions and make them friendlier."
"This solution needs improvement in terms of automation."
"I would like to see Dynatrace be more user-friendly. Sometimes there are too many options to use from, which is good, but it can become confusing on how to proceed."
"There is still a certain amount of technical skills needed to be able to understand what you are seeing on it. You also need a large amount of technical or infrastructure skills to understand how and where to install it."
"Better root cause detection and improve root cause categories. In some cases, the root cause points out only a clue of what has happened."
"I would like to see the ability to pull more user-friendly reports."
"It would be nice to have a simplified monitoring feature for non-Java applications."
"Needs more compatibility of platforms out-of-the-box."
"The solution is pricy and has room for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Getting the first agents installed, getting information, and coverage in a initial set of systems can be done in hours and with a low cost entry point."
"Licensing is a bit complicated for Dynatrace, and pricing is dependent on how much your organization invests."
"There are additional Professional Services costs which ensure the solution is configured with meaningful names so you're getting the most money for your investment."
"Dynatrace is the most expensive APM that we sell, compared to competitors' products. The license pricing could be improved. My customers pay for licensing yearly."
"I have not been able to observe more than 1% overhead, despite Dynatrace saying that it can be slightly higher in some situations."
"If there are no corporate requirements to run Dynatrace Managed (operating it yourself), I would definitely go for the size option. For small and medium-sized companies, the size option is probably the cheapest one. You don't need to look into operating it. You don't need to run hardware. It is pay as you go."
"Price (of the product) is a major concern for all the clients I work with."
"Its license is a bit expensive. We renew it yearly."
