Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Stable with good cross-integration between modules, but the training needs to be improved
We mainly use UiPath as our RPA platform. I have looked at several other solutions that include the bigger ones, Blue Prism, and Automation Anywhere. We have experience in developing bots in all three of these. It is difficult to move from UiPath to EdgeVerve when UiPath is so good at getting people in the door. They've got a great ecosystem and a great training model. Every other system is more challenging to use. To get an EdgeVerve license, for example, you need to have an NDA in place to use it. Blue Prism is even worse, although, with them, you just have to pay more money. By not democratizing the software and the way to utilize it, smaller companies like EdgeVerve and even Blue Prism, to a certain extent, have suffered in terms of growth. The three leaders at the top do a pretty good job. Outside of workflow, they do a pretty good job, and that's why the customers buy, so you have to be strong on those. As far as the tools are concerned, RPA is RPA, and everybody generally does it in the same way. What is probably going to start distinguishing between products is the use of AI. When AI really overtakes the selectors for RDA, robotic desktop automation, when you have to really rely on the backdrop of the DOM to get at the element, the use of AI and more efficient on-prem AI solutions is going to really make that a better experience. The on-premises distinction is important because there's latency when you hit the cloud. Ultimately, to me, the toolsets are all the same. Drag and drop, the ability to create custom activities in terms of creating your libraries, and that kind of thing, they're all there. This past year has been ridiculous in terms of how all of the tools have progressed. What they were a year ago versus what they are today, is a considerable and significant difference. For example, I have totally redesigned my solutions and architectures over the past year.

Reliable product with an efficient initial setup process

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is really helpful that this solution is deployed in the cloud."
"The most valuable feature is the SAP application and the DLLs that Automation Anywhere provides. These DLLs help automate the SAP application."
"I like the diversity. Every year, maybe even every six months, new modules are introduced to the program, and module enhancements are added to the toolbox to make automating various applications or situations easier."
"The support team responds quickly."
"It is easy to fix bug issues which you encounter in the post-production process."
"It can be easily learned by anyone who spends a bit of time with it."
"I like Automation Anywhere's cloud-based nature. You don't need any on-prem infrastructure to host it."
"Automation Anywhere is scalable and capable of adapting to any new requirements and technologies."
"EdgeVerve is a bit like Appian, where they have full suites that have a great deal of functionality."
"I would say that the cross-integration between different modules, such as between the OCR, RPA, and ML, is the most valuable feature."
"It removes the burden of having to do some tasks manually. However, we are just using it in production for a single project. It saves us a lot of time in terms of extracting that information. So far, it has made a big impact."
"Overall, it's a good application to start your RPA journey with."
"Previously, it used to be a completely manual process where we used to have around 16 people looking at the invoices and typing in the data, and now that we have put in a bot, this process is completely centralized and we now have just two people who look at the exceptions."
"It has saved us hundreds of hours per month and has covered the work of two or three full-time operators."
"Jiffy.ai has really helped us due to its flexibility, and we were even able to go back 20 years and connect these machines to modern systems that we run on, which connects both ends of the technology and completely automates complex, high-volume compliance and reconciliation processes that previously required many people and heavy maintenance."
"We have seen tremendous value, especially in the pandemic, as we were able to cut costs, redistribute resources, and cover work because of the automation we have been doing, resulting in about 10 percent of the work automated in targeted areas, 5 to 10 percent time savings, and $2 million to $3 million in annual savings."
"I found the invoice data extraction very exciting. It is really good."
"In terms of the processing of the transaction, Jiffy.ai Automate scores monthly between a 95 to 98 percent success rate for all transactions."

Cons

"My current and previous companies have had stability issues."
"Verbose logging of bot compiling and deployment from the control room. Events occurring during compiling, pre-processing the bots should be logged in the control room or bot launcher logs."
"Initially, the implementation was tough."
"SMTP mail features should come with migration options. All kind of VB scripts and Java scripts which we built using exiting version should support in this version."
"With Citrix, we need a dedicated server to work with it. This has become complicated, as it is not easy to pull all the systems together into one place. It would be better if the Automation Anywhere team could make this easy and simple."
"They can further improve the AI. It is already at a certain level, but it can be improved."
"I'd like to see the OCR feature be perfected. Today we get an accuracy ratio from OCR of around 40 percent to 50 percent only."
"An additional feature we would like to see is the inclusion of a particular kind of scripting in the development environment itself."
"Better training and better accessibility of the tools are the things that need to be improved."
"The UI or the UX has room for improvement. The approach for designing the workflow is not that straightforward. It's quite difficult."
"I believe this is also being addressed, but a lot of the platform work, as we were putting in new versions or making some updates, was, ironically, very manual. It's improved greatly, but I would imagine that's an area that they're probably still working on, on the backend, to help when it comes to what we need to do for platform support."
"The setup process could definitely be better."
"There's a trade-off. One of the reasons we ended up with Jiffy is that the cost is really low compared to the rest, but in exchange you get what you pay for."
"They are still new in the market. Or, at least, they are still a small player. They require a lot of improvement in terms of learning material as well as the community developers."
"In Jiffy.ai, they should add more customization, depending on the plugins available in the system."
"Initially, in version 3, Jiffy.ai did not have support for containerization. In our environment, we are heavy users of containers and container illustrators. So, the initial deployment option was running based on individual hosts that we deployed in the cloud. That created a singularity in the way that we deployed services in our system."
"When using UiPath automation, we could just Google issues if we were stuck with something. In the initial days with Jiffy.ai, we could not get that type of information from Google because there wasn't much of a community."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have reduced our headcount, approximately 200 to 300 employees, by eliminating manual, repetitive work. It provides profit to the business."
"Automation Anywhere is reasonably priced because it can sustain us for a long period."
"Complaints are generally about the cost of IQ Bot, which is higher than its competitors. The base model’s pricing is comparable to other platforms with attended, unattended, and IDP capabilities as well."
"If I compare it with Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere is cheaper. Blue Prism is very costly. Automation Anywhere's pricing follows the market, not less and not more."
"It is not too expensive, but there are many tools available in the market that can provide the same functionality at a cheaper price."
"I feel the cost of licensing is very high for the A2019 version."
"The cost is at the highest end of the spectrum."
"We paid separately for the Runner and Creater components. The final cost depends on the structure of your environment."
Information not available
"The licensing is not expensive; it is quite cheap. The expensive part is to support and maintain it. Understandably, we engage them to do a lot of work that could have been done by our own staff, if we had an RPA team. I wouldn't hold that against them. It is just that the cost of support is on the higher side for us."
"The solution's price is reasonable."
"I like that it is very cost-efficient."
"The pricing is quite competitive. As a small player in the market, they are quite aggressive in their pricing. With the features that they offer, it is quite worth the value."
"Its license is yearly. There are no additional costs to the standard fee. It is a standard license."
"If cost is of concern, then start with Jiffy. If cost is not your main concern there are a few premium products out there, but they come with a huge price tag."
"The pricing and license make sense. They have a model based on the concurrency of the workforce, which is very suitable in our case. The savings are great on the licensing cost."
