Scalable and easy to maintain
One of the most valuable features is the scalability. Whenever it's required, we can add more servers and scale. We can actually use specific servers for specific stuff. Unlike in other solutions, now we can implement one server purely dedicated to core-banking-related API. This is very important when it comes to the PCI DSS certification.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ability to compliment out-of-the-box integration components with small custom code."
"It has vastly improved the speed of delivery for custom integrations."
"The platform's most valuable feature is data transformation."
"Fully functional interfaces and web services are up in hours, not days, so we spend more time designing XSD than setting up the service."
"Fiorano offers multiple adaptors for various interface languages, making it easy to cater to a variety of interfaces."
"One of the most valuable features is the scalability. Whenever it's required, we can add more servers and scale. We can actually use specific servers for specific stuff. Unlike in other solutions, now we can implement one server purely dedicated to core-banking-related API. This is very important when it comes to the PCI DSS certification."
"Even though we had been using Oracle BPEL, we had to go with Oracle Service Bus because it is able to handle JSON inputs, and we were amazed by its flexibility in accepting incoming messages."
"It was very good at supporting high transactions, up to 300 transactions per second."
"What I like most about Oracle Service Bus is that you can use it for many integrations. For example, you can use it for on-premises to on-premises integrations, on-premises to cloud integrations, and cloud to on-premises integrations."
"Monitoring feature that allows tracking of the web's UI development."
"The ability to master the process in one location."
"The communication between applications is already defined, which means that you don't have to redefine your service infrastructure at the lower level."
"Service Bus is good at routing the transformation."
"The main advantage of Oracle Service Bus is the possibility to integrate different systems using workflows and different architectures in the same product."

Cons

"Fiorano ESB could be improved by becoming more user-friendly. Most of the pages and generated reports on API usage are already there, but they could be more user-friendly. There could be more selections added to generate reports. Overall, though, Fiorano suits all our needs and has good functionality."
"Error descriptions are not user friendly."
"Error logging is not very user-friendly. It requires the error logging to be configured in many different places."
"Fiorano ESB's logging feature and data availability need improvement."
"Error logging is not very user-friendly. It requires the error logging to be configured in many different places."
"Security features can be improved to better protect the server."
"An area for improvement in Oracle Service Bus is the roadmap for its product launch. Currently, it's unclear, so Oracle should develop a roadmap for version 12c, so people can see what's coming out of that version of Oracle Service Bus. Cloud hosting is an additional feature I'd like to see in the next release of Oracle Service Bus."
"This solution should work better with RESTful services."
"With the most recent version, 12c, I'm still getting used to using it, learning how to use it, how to configure it. The Oracle documentation is OK, but there aren’t a lot of good examples for me to follow."
"The consolidation functionality is minimal, lacking advanced features for complex integrations."
"The pricing of the product could be better. It's a bit high."
"Lacks sufficient cloud compatibility."
"It needs to support more adapters, because the integration points keep changing and new things keep coming up. It also needs to be more scalable."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the product's pricing a five out of ten."
"The price of this solution is better than the subscription-based Mule ESB."
"We have an unlimited yearly license."
"I'm not aware of how much Oracle Service Bus costs."
"The pricing is on the higher side."
"Oracle Service Bus is a bit expensive"
"This is a very expensive product and the price varies depending on factors such as the number of processors and the number of users. Our licensing fees are approximately $300,000."
