Data protection and feature-rich capabilities have improved with room for reducing false positives
Forcepoint Data Loss Prevention is a good product that provides deep fingerprinting capabilities in data exploring and data discovery. They have an excellent feature for discovering data automatically through policies available in their portal, and they excel in data discovery and classification. The solution offers database fingerprinting, file fingerprinting, and script-based policies, along with automatic data discovery exploration. Fingerprinting automatically discovers customer data in our database and, based on sensitivity, detects and blocks the data if someone attempts unauthorized access. Forcepoint Data Loss Prevention is a web threat security product offering content inspection and URL filtering with built-in DLP capabilities. It proactively identifies web-based threats using tools such as advanced classification, browser isolation, and malware detection. Forcepoint Data Loss Prevention's solution focuses on internal risks and monitoring user activity to identify abnormal behavior, offering forensic tools such as login and video replay to understand intent. Data classification is an advanced tool we have used for classifying our data. The main feature is AI-powered, called DSP. The classification capability leverages a distributed AI architecture feature and GenAI small language models to classify both structured and unstructured data. It supports 50 file types and continuously improves accuracy with user feedback, enabling auto-discovery across cloud, endpoint, and on-premises data stores without extra cost of repeated scans.

Email scanning and keyword monitoring improve compliance with data policies
Trend Micro DLP allows me to scan and monitor emails for specific words, ensuring compliance with data loss prevention policies. The DLP system captures keywords from email headers and subjects, and if those words are present, the DLP system operates accordingly. I also use DLP for monitoring data at rest, data in transit, and external devices.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"A very user-friendly predefining feature."
"Forcepoint Data Loss Prevention has positively impacted my organization because we have managed to keep track of all the emails sent, all the data, and all the proprietary information that's shared, and everything is on a proper track, enabling everyone to classify their information so that nothing is leaked."
"After the configuration, it is very stable, and in the last two years, I haven't been faced with many issues or product-related challenges."
"Technical support has been helpful."
"The GUI is very intuitive. That is the way I would explain its ease of use. It is straightforward."
"Forcepoint DLP's most valuable feature is that it provides complete end-to-end security."
"The most valuable feature is the endpoint DLP. It's specific to copying to the USB or copying to the internal storage in our office."
"The Optical Character Recognition (OCR) functionality is another helpful feature, especially for unstructured data. Being able to discover sensitive data in an unstructured format is the most beneficial element of the solution."
"It is a scalable product."
"Trend Micro DLP allows me to scan and monitor emails for specific words, ensuring compliance with data loss prevention policies."
"We find the initial setup to be very easy."
"I'm not an administrator of Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention, but an end-user, and what I like about it is that it can detect events that could cause data loss. It's a good solution."
"Trend Micro has improved my client's organization by recovering malware disabled network adaptors from servers."
"We find the malware scanning and intrusion detection most valuable for our server management requirements. We can find out who is on our servers and what they have done."
"There are no issues with the interface."
"Everyone can use this tool."

Cons

"If you are a macOS user, there are issues in the area of USB control."
"They can improve a bit in the OCR category. The OCR deployment could be simplified. Right now, you have to set up a separate server to manage all the data going through the network, especially the images. Forcepoint could better integrate the OCR component with central management."
"The initial setup of Forcepoint Data Loss Prevention is of medium difficulty level."
"The protection of personal data needs to be improved."
"Everything takes a long time, as it does in every software company, especially since COVID. That is something I notice with every product I use."
"There's zero Forcepoint presence in West Africa. Customers typically like having these things close to them. It would help if they had a presence here. Right now, Forcepoint West Africa has been administered from South Africa. Because of this, customers can't access premium support in our region."
"I would like to see the product extended into the cloud as a single solution."
"There is room for improvement regarding OCR. I would like to see it enhanced to handle multiple languages and it should be easier to manage."
"Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention is buggy, which is one area for improvement. I also found Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention support horrible, so that's another area for improvement."
"There is a need for more predefined templates in the DLP tool."
"The platform's support structure for government-specific domain requirements could be improved."
"Being able to specify an agent list, or client list, to allow support from outside of the organization, would be of benefit to this solution."
"The tool should improve its reporting functionality. We need a proper reporting feature in a DLP solution."
"Needs a remote login option."
"I would like to provide improved network direction in order to regulate all of the user agents. We only use Trend Micro Data Loss Prevention to manage various threats and malicious user agents currently."
"They could improve the product's data loss policies."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is reasonable. That's why we went with Forcepoint. They were pretty competitive."
"The price of the solution is expensive."
"The pricing and licensing are okay."
"The solution is expensive."
"Forcepoint has been very cost-effective because they gave us a good deal while procuring the DLP solution."
"Forcepoint DLP is a bit expensive."
"They are flexible regarding the pricing and they have a good model for an OEM data classification tool... Forcepoint has been one of the most competitively priced products over the last few years."
"One feature that I'm getting ready to take advantage of more is the ability to add more data crawlers to the DLP on-prem environment, without any extra Forcepoint costs or licensing needed for that additional data server. That will help in reducing the stress on the data server that we're using now."
"I rate the tool's pricing a three out of ten."
"It's not too expensive, especially when compared to SecureTech, and Forcepoint. It's actually cheaper. A license costs about INR 4,000 to INR 5,000, roughly $60 per license per year. In comparison, Forcepoint licenses are around $90 to $95."
"Price-wise, it is a cheap solution. I rate the solution's pricing a two on a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high."
"The licensing and pricing of Trend Micro are comparatively low and competitive since they are offered in a bundle, especially compared to Symantec, which was has a relatively high price."
"The client needs to pay for the Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention license on an annual basis."
"The platform is expensive. We purchase its yearly license."
"Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention is expensive compared to other solutions."
"It's relatively cheap so the pricing is okay."
