Facilitates secure 2FA for admins, facilitates OTP generation, and enhances security
One suggestion is to develop a more user-friendly solution that is cost-effective so that a hardware-based solution can be provided to all users using VPN services or any configuration service requiring confidentiality. This would allow for broader distribution among a larger number of system admins and software engineers, which is currently not feasible with the existing hardware-only approach.
Gustavo Merighi - PeerSpot reviewer
Has an easy-to-use management interface and a straightforward initial setup process
Our primary use cases include multifactor authentication for VPN connections and access to security tools like jump servers and firewalls. We also use it to enhance security measures in an enterprise environment The most valuable feature is the YAML 2.0 integration. It has an easy-to-use…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product provides secure access to our internal server."
"FortiToken is available in a soft or hard token factor, so there's some flexibility in that. Beyond that, I would say it is a stable solution that has worked for us."
"The token-based authentication is good and modern aspect."
"The deployment is quick and simple."
"FortiToken is a cost-effective solution compared to other solutions, such as Cisco."
"Its ease of installation is most valuable. It took me five minutes, and it was up and running. It didn't take me that long. The installation on the cell phones is pretty simple."
"The tool's support is the best."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its mobile application. It is particularly beneficial as it eliminates the need for hardware management."
"One valuable feature is Thales' ability to provide off-site tokens."
"I like how the solution allows me to support different types of hardware tokens and integrate with OTP."
"We use this solution to log into virtual machines like VMware and VMware Horizon."
"The technical support services are good."
"Scalable and stable."
"The most valuable feature of SafeNet Authentication Manager is authentication."

Cons

"I'm not sure if it's already available, however, I wonder if there's an option to have it sent to my email address instead of having it on the mobile app."
"The problem is that our customers create budgets annually based on the figures at the beginning of the fiscal year. Our customers get annoyed when the price is adjusted in the middle of the year. I understand that it's a difficult time, and price increases make sense for hardware devices. However, FortiToken is a software product, so it shouldn't be affected by factors like chip shortages or supply chain issues. Software solutions should have more transparent and predictable pricing."
"One suggestion is to develop a more user-friendly solution that is cost-effective so that a hardware-based solution can be provided to all users using VPN services or any configuration service requiring confidentiality."
"FortiToken should provide enhanced SMS services for those users who do not have smartphones."
"Maybe the price could be improved, and the integration could be better. But the integration is different from the authenticator side."
"Support is a pain point in Bangladesh because there aren't many experienced Fortinet engineers in this country. It's easier to find one certified in Cisco, Palo Alto, or Juniper."
"I would rate the scalability a seven out of ten. The migration issue definitely brings it down a bit."
"Fortinet FortiToken could be lower for some markets."
"The stability could improve."
"Lacks integration with other platforms."
"We faced issues due to slow ticket responses, which improved over time."
"The problem with SafeNet is that it's not integrated with Microsoft 365."
"The product could be improved by adding more features for sending tokens via SMS or phone calls."
"The solution should allow for support of multi-tenant architecture."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The platform's licensing cost is reasonable for our organization."
"The solution’s price is good."
"I would rate the pricing as an eight out of ten. We purchased the solution at a reasonable price in 2019."
"The solution’s pricing is moderate and reasonable."
"Fortinet FortiToken is not an expensive solution."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is the cheapest, and ten is the highest, I rate the pricing an eight."
"Overall, it's cheaper than other solutions. Of course, we evaluated it five years back, and I haven't checked to see its current market position, but one reason we adopted FortiToken is its lower cost of ownership relative to other solutions we evaluated."
"The pricing is not very high, so I'd rate it around six out of ten, where one is high and ten is low."
"There is an annual licensing fee."
"Thales is more expensive than its competitors."
