Facilitates efficient secret management and improves development processes
Regarding the exceptions in GitGuardian Platform, we know that within the platform we have a way to accept a path or a directory from a repository, but it is not that visible at the very beginning. You have to figure out where to search for it, and once you have it, it is really good, but it is not that visible at the beginning. This should be made more exposed. The documentation could be better because it was not that comprehensively documented. When we started working with GitGuardian Platform, it was difficult to find some specific use cases, and we were not aware of that. It might have improved now, but at that time, it was not something we would recommend.

Seamless integration into existing ecosystem empowers effective threat detection
The most valuable feature of Palo Alto Networks AutoFocus is its seamless integration into the Palo Alto Networks ecosystem, allowing the threat intelligence feeds to be automatically consumed without manual effort. It uses the STIX format, which is automatically understood by the firewalls. AutoFocus also excels in behavioral analytics and reputation scoring, providing thorough threat analysis.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the alerts when secrets are leaked and we can look at particular repositories to see if there are any outstanding problems. In addition, the solution's detection capabilities seem very broad. We have no concerns there."
"It actually creates an incident ticket for us. We can now go end-to-end after a secret has been identified, to track down who owns the repository and who is responsible for cleaning it up."
"It's also worth mentioning that GitGuardian is unique because they have a free tier that we've been using for the first twelve months. It provides full functionality for smaller teams. We're a smaller company and have never changed in size, but we got to the point where we felt the service brought us value, and we want to pay for it. We also wanted an SLA for technical support and whatnot, so we switched to a paid plan. Without that, they had a super-generous, free tier, and I was immensely impressed with it."
"The entire GitGuardian solution is valuable. The product is doing its job and showing us many things. We get many false positives, but the ability to automatically display potential leaks when developers commit is valuable. The dashboards show you recent and historical commits, and we have a full scan that shows historical leaked secrets."
"A high number of our exposures are remediated by developers before security needs to step in, as the self-healing playbook process engages them automatically. This results in issues being resolved within minutes, saving significant effort from the security team in tracking down or communicating with developers."
"GitGuardian Platform scans every commit, branch, pull request, and the entire repository history, which informs us about security gaps and code issues."
"It has really helped us change our culture, and it's impressive to see that."
"The Explore function is valuable for finding specific things I'm looking for."
"It is very easy to install and set up AutoFocus."
"It integrates well with other solutions and provides good threat intelligence in terms of external threats."
"The logs play a crucial role as they contribute to blocking unwanted Internet traffic."
"The feature that I like best is the dashboard."
"I am impressed with the tool's integration of Palo Alto products which serves as a platform for security."
"It's a very good solution, it identifies critical attacks and alerts you."
"The most valuable feature is alerting."
"I would rate Palo Alto Networks AutoFocus a ten out of ten."

Cons

"We'd like to request a new GitGuardian feature that automates user onboarding and access control for code repositories."
"I would like to see improvement in some of the user interface features."
"An area for improvement is the front end for incidents. The user experience in this area could be much better."
"GitGuardian Platform can be improved with better integration with enterprise ticketing platforms, enhancing the dashboard for executive reporting, and providing more automation for remediation."
"One improvement that I'd like to see is a cleaner for Splunk logs."
"They could give a developer access to a dashboard for their team's repositories that just shows their repository secrets. I think more could be exposed to developers."
"Other solutions have a live chat feature that provides instant results. Waiting for an agent to reply to an email is less ideal than an instant conversation with a support employee. That's a complaint so minor I almost hesitate to mention it."
"GitGuardian Platform could improve by providing a more user-friendly UI with tips or solutions."
"I would like the tool to see more integration with Cortex XDR. There is no real reason to keep them separate."
"Palo Alto Networks AutoFocus is not affordable."
"It must be on-premises as well; it must have a server on-premises. It is a completely cloud-based product at present."
"I would like to have more technical documentation that contains greater detail on the types of threats that are occurring."
"It would be better if they used the threat intelligence feeds directly from their side and changing the verdict instead of us requesting it."
"There were one or two instances where firewalls were not getting the threat intelligence feeds."
"It would be helpful to have better documentation for configuring and installing the solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I compared the solution to a couple of other solutions, and I think it is very competitively priced."
"The internal side is cheap per user. It is annual pricing based on the number of users."
"I am only aware of the base price. I do not know what happened with our purchasing team in discussions with GitGuardian. I was not privy to the overall contract, but in terms of the base MSRP price, I found it reasonable."
"The pricing and licensing are fair. It isn't very expensive and it's good value."
"It could be cheaper. When GitHub secrets monitoring solution goes to general access and general availability, GitGuardian might be in a little bit of trouble from the competition, and maybe then they might lower their prices. The GitGuardian solution is great. I'm just concerned that they're not GitHub."
"With GitGuardian, we didn't need any middlemen."
"The pricing for GitGuardian is fair."
"It's competitively priced compared to others. Overall, the secret detection sector is expensive, but we are very happy with the value we get."
"The solution is reasonably priced."
"It is expensive."
