Improved agility and time to market with CI/CD enhancements
The CI/CD pipelines in GitLab are highly valuable. Another important feature is the single source of repository, allowing efficient repository management and source code management. GitLab provides manageability by allowing us to manage source code effectively through separate repositories. Additionally, GitLab enables the creation of individual CI/CD pipelines for each repository, making software more agile. By integrating GitLab as a DevOps platform, we have enhanced agility, improved our time to market, and different teams can work collaboratively on various projects.

Testing against multiple run times, versions, and environments is a plus point
We are using Shippable to automate our CI/CD, so we (and our developers) can focus on our core business.  Shippable has tremendously increased our product and features delivery by at least three times. The platform has some amazing features and the integration option makes it very simple to plug…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like GitLab from the CI/CD perspective. It is much easier to set up CI/CD and then integrate with other tools."
"It is user-friendly, easy to use, and easy to administer."
"I like that it's easy to deploy our services over GitLab. The customer support is also good with a really active community. You have a lot of support that you can get online with your stack. That is probably one of the benefits of using GitLab. It's also really fast."
"GitLab is being used as a repository for our codebase and it is a one stop DevOps tool we use in our team."
"We use GitLab in the new project for CI/CD, integration, and deployment."
"The solution makes the CI/CD pipelines easy to execute."
"The solution's service delivery model is fantastic."
"The solution has an established roadmap that lays out its plans for upgrades over the next two to three years."
"Testing against multiple run times, versions, and environments is a plus point with the additional pipelines making it more interesting to see what is happening across your development process in a single pane of glass."
"The platform has some amazing features and the integration option makes it very simple to plug with any of our favorite tools."

Cons

"It could have more security integrations and the ability to check the vulnerability of the code. I don't think it is a responsibility of Gitlab, but it would be nice to have more options to integrate with."
"The documentation could be improved to help newcomers better understand things like creating new branches."
"The initial setup was quite challenging because it takes some time to understand how to pull out or push the code."
"The documentation is confusing."
"GitLab can improve its user interface to make conflict resolution more user-friendly."
"I don't really like the new Kubernetes integration because it is pretty focused on the on-premise environment, but we're in a hybrid environment."
"We'd always like to see better pricing on the product."
"While GitLab is a great tool for developers, it lacks project planner features. Roadmaps and Gantt charts in GitLab are not as advanced as in Jira, and changing start and end dates is more laborious in GitLab."
"They could work on reducing the number of permissions required while using Bitbucket."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"GitLab is comparatively expensive, but it provides value because it's feature-rich."
"It seems reasonable. Our IT team manages the licenses."
"In total, I believe we have more than 300 licenses spread over about 100 users, though I can't comment on the costs involved."
"We are currently using the open-source version."
"The solution's pricing is acceptable."
"I don't mind the price because I use the free version."
"The initial setup cost is excellent and you can add the premium features later."
"I'm not aware of the licensing costs because those were covered by the customer."
"The pricing is the cheapest compared to the other platforms out there."
