User interface consistency facilitates seamless project planning and design for specialized tasks
While Google has made efforts to address SAP loads, the company lacks a product specialist focus. They cover a broad range of products, which might affect their ability to compete well in certain niches. Google's strength lies in their adapted approach to specific tasks, as seen with SAP loads. Generally, their focus is widespread.

Allows customers to manage SAN and NAS data within a single storage solution
The tool's most valuable features are the SnapLock and SnapMirror features. If something goes wrong with the data, we can restore it. This isn't a mirror; we store data in different locations. If there's an issue on the primary site, we can retrieve data from the secondary site. Multiprotocol support in NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP is beneficial because it allows customers to manage SAN and NAS data within a single storage solution. This feature eliminates the need to purchase different types of storage.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"On the phone, I appreciate how seamless it is."
"The responses from the technical team are fast...It is a stable product...We do have plans to increase the number of users since it is a scalable product."
"Google Cloud Storage is fast, and it's scalable."
"It's user-friendly. We find it to be very easy to use."
"Google Cloud was cheaper compared to AWS and Azure."
"The combination of Firebase features, including storage, the Firebase database, and authentication, has been the most valuable. Firebase offers Google authentication, which is convenient for our needs. Additionally, Firebase provides email authentication and Gmail authentication, which are easy to set up and integrate into our applications."
"The solution is scalable."
"The solution is easy to use."
"The solution’s unified file and block-storage access across our infrastructure is invaluable. Without it, we can't do what we do."
"The solution’s Snapshot copies and thin clones in terms of operational recovery are good. Snapshot copies are pretty much the write-in time data backups. Obviously, critical data is snapshotted a lot more frequently, and even clients and end users find it easier to restore whatever they need if it's file-based, statical, etc."
"The most valuable features of this solution are SnapShot, FlexClone, and deduplication."
"CVO gives us the ability to access data as quickly as possible, which is critical because of the mission set we handle. Some things cannot wait. For example, we tried having the data in the cloud itself, but it took too long for us to retrieve it from cold or deep storage. If we have it ONTAP or on-prem, it's so much easier to pull it within minutes."
"The most valuable features are tiering to S3 and being able to turn it on and off, based on a schedule."
"The solution’s Snapshot copies and thin clones in terms of operational recovery are the best thing since sliced bread. Rollback is super easy. It's just simple, and it works. It's very efficient."
"The fast recovery time objective with the ability to bring the environment back to production in case something happens."
"If anything happens, their technical support will come onsite and fix it."

Cons

"The problem I face right now is that my data warehouse is being hosted on Google Cloud, however, integration between Google Cloud to Microsoft Azure is a big problem."
"It would be helpful to offer more packages to increase the storage."
"Here in the Philippines, we don't have direct support from Google. We have self-studied to learn the services."
"The solution’s stability could be improved."
"I'm not really comfortable with the user interface because I don't use it very often."
"I do not find any areas needing improvement currently."
"I want the product to be available at a cheaper cost."
"It was not easy to reach the storage because there were different network zones."
"I rate the scalability a five out of ten."
"There is room for improvement in tier one support, especially with potential language barriers and communication challenges."
"The solution is not stable when using single nodes. This is a problem. NetApp should work on this solution to make it more stable with HA nodes and resolve this issue."
"I would like to see better integration with Active IQ."
"I would like some more performance matrices to know what it is doing. It has some matrices inherent to the Cloud Volumes ONTAP. But inside Cloud Manager, it would also be nice to see. You can have a little Snapshot, then drill down if you go a little deeper."
"When Azure does their maintenance, they do maintenance on one node at a time. With the two nodes of the CVO, it can automatically fail over from one node to the node that is staying up. And when the first node comes back online, it will fail back to the first node. We have had issues with everything failing back 100 percent correctly."
"When it comes to support provided by NetApp, they have room for improvement. Every time we go through their support, we end up answering the same routine questions."
"I would like to see more information about Cloud Volumes ONTAP using Google Cloud Platform on NetApp's website."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We pay a monthly subscription."
"If you want a shared file system, you have to buy a server with the minimum capacity of one TB."
"I just use the free storage that comes with Gmail. I have 15 gigabytes."
"Regarding the cost of the solution, Google offers its users a pay-as-you-go model pricing."
"Approximately 800 to 1,000 USD is paid towards the licensing costs of the solution. The solution is neither expensive nor cheap, meaning it is moderately priced. There are no extra costs apart from the licensing costs of the solution."
"There is a license needed to use Google Cloud Storage at our university."
"The price of the license could be cheaper. We are on an annual subscription."
"They have recently changed their pricing structures, it used to be free but now it is a paid service. However, I am on a monthly subscription and the price is reasonable."
"I know the licensing is a bit on the high-end. That's when we had to downsize our MetroCluster disks and just migrate to disks that were half used. We migrated into those just to reduce maintenance costs."
"We purchased the product directly from NetApp."
"It is expensive. There are no costs in addition to their standard licensing fees."
"The standard pricing is online. Pricing depends. If you're using the PayGo model, then it's just the normal costs on the Microsoft page. If you're using Bring Your Own License, which is what we're doing, then you get with your sales contact at NetApp and start figuring out what price is the best, in the end, for your company."
"Purchasing through the AWS Marketplace was good, but it was a test system, not a real purchase."
"Overall, the pricing of NetApp is aggressive and the pricing becomes more aggressive as the amount of data increases. The cost for a given volume of data that you are storing becomes lower. The greater the volume of data, the cheaper the license."
"The pricing could be improved. It is a good product, but it is very expensive for me."
"We find the pricing to be favorable due to the educational sector we belong to."
