Broad protection, good stability, fast support, and reasonable pricing
It is in the early stage of innovation, but it has been developing constantly and rapidly. The room for improvements for this kind of solution is basically in terms of mapping between multiple resources. For example, if a fraudster or scammer is using Instagram to track potential customers of an organization, he might also use fraudulent resources of a website, mobile application, or instant messenger as a part of an elaborate scheme. Group-IB is working on mapping such related fraud resources so that they can see the whole pattern and then track the fraudster or scammer conducting the scheme. They could also improve the Risk Scoring Engine. Whenever any resource comes up in the monitoring section, there is an engine to score whether it is a high risk, low risk, or no risk, or whether it is legal for the customer. This part could be improved because different channels require different mechanisms for scoring the risk. On the website, it can score a risk easily, but for social media and instant messenger, some things need to be adjusted. It is not similar to monitoring a website.

As things are evolving and threats develop in unpredictable ways, Proofpoint must adopt AI solutions and agentic solutions more aggressively and provide them to customers as part of service offerings. Inbuilt AI solutions would add more value and make Proofpoint a more premium choice for customers. With the help of AI solutions, agentic AI, and generative AI capabilities, the product would be more efficient than it currently is. Filtering false positives is highly challenging because it is impossible for humans to identify which emails are genuine and which are spam. Proofpoint should focus more on this area with back-end agents or other tools. Proofpoint should decide which emails are genuine and which are spam so it is not a challenge for end users. When receiving an email, end users should not have to determine whether to respond or not. Proofpoint should not release such spam emails and should strictly block such spam and spoof emails based on connection IPs. Currently, false positives occur in the product, and while this occurs in every product, it is an area where Proofpoint can focus on improving and reducing false positives. One email is enough for an end user to be deceived and lose money, so addressing this area is critical.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It provides the broadest protection covering websites, marketplace, advertising, social media, which includes Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and even instant messenger, darkweb, pastebin and Github."
"It provides the broadest protection covering websites, marketplace, advertising, and social media, which includes Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. They also offer mobile application monitoring and enforcement not only in the Google Play store but also in the Apple store. They can monitor and enforce the distribution of mobile applications, any kind of app website such as Android apk.com, and a lot of other custom stuff. To be able to customize and specify the platforms that need to be monitored and enforced is something that our clients find most valuable."
"I have witnessed a positive impact of Proofpoint Email Protection on my organization, having worked for one of the world's largest organizations that uses Proofpoint consistently for email security."
"The Tap and Trap features. They are the best features."
"The most valuable feature of Proofpoint Email Protection is the central location dashboard for viewing all the related information for risk."
"Proofpoint is much more advanced and capable of safeguarding the infrastructure and protecting the customer landscape, specifically from an email and attachment point of view, in day-to-day operations compared to these solutions."
"The flexibility is unbelievable and you could get extremely creative to accommodate real case scenarios."
"The solution is very user-friendly."
"Considering Proofpoint Email Protection's end-to-end visibility in email threats, focusing on both the email and the person, it accomplishes what automation does in half the human work."
"The most valuable features of Proofpoint Email Protection are ease of use, data loss prevention, antivirus, and spam protection."

Cons

"It is in the early stage of innovation, but it has been developing constantly in a major fashion. "Proofpoint is fairly expensive."
"I feel Proofpoint Email Protection is overpriced. I cannot say that the security level being provided does not justify the cost, but when comparing the similar level of security with other applications or security systems, it is overpriced."
"It became very expensive due to the nature of local circumstances, and I may advise Proofpoint to adjust marketing solutions based on each country."
"I feel Proofpoint Email Protection can be improved by providing a better user experience."
"They do not have an on-demand scan for the internal viruses and internal users, and they don't have a scan for the exchange server against viruses and spam as Symantec does."
"Proofpoint Email Protection can be improved in that it is quite a large product, so learning how to be fully conversant in it can take some time within the team; this is probably the biggest challenge at the moment for us, getting everyone fully conversant to support the product."
"Proofpoint Email Protection could improve by allowing more customization of the reports, such as exceptions and black-and-white lists."
"The downside is I feel the vendor support is a little lacking and should be more responsive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"At the moment, its pricing is very reasonable for the whole work that Group-IB is doing for the banks. We can easily calculate the return on investment based on that pricing because the number of resources that need to be taken down would reach up to thousands within months. Its pricing is very reasonable for this kind of work. There is no hidden fee. It is subscription-based. There are different packages that are based on a limited or unlimited number of takedowns. It is very simple with no hidden fees."
"Pricing has recently been increased and the cost is a downside"
"It is multiple times more expensive, which made it very much less attractive."
"I rate the product price a seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
"We sell annual licenses for this solution."
"The licensing is basically $8/user."
"They are competitively priced, but I have been forced to get quotes for other solutions now because they haven't been responding to requests to do the work that we would like them to do."
"Clients pay for an annual subscription of Proofpoint Email Protection. Every client always finds it expensive."
"Customers pay around $90,000 yearly for a 1,000-user organization, with the subscription license being the main expense, apart from implementation fees."
