With a perfect record for uptime, the solution ensures a return on investment
Since it is a legacy tool, there is a need to change it for flexibility. I think now it has improved because the security is very good. It is very secure for the performance of the machine critical application service, and it is very good. I don't know how to speak more on improvement needed because it's a good enough tool. However, depending on the application, it's limited. Not a lot of applications run on HPE NonStop. It is not flexible because I know that because of the compatibility of Java with HPE NonStop. When we are using Java, the performance is not good.

Pros

"We don't have any issues with the stability of HPE NonStop."
"The HPE NonStop solution is rated with the highest level of availability in the industry."
"Technical support is A++. If there is a problem, HPE will fix it."
"Because we're able to get immediate support, this prevents downtime and directly impacts cost savings."
"The stability of HPE NonStop is good."
"Implement it. You will never regret it."
"If you are contemplating a fault-tolerant, high uptime transaction processing machine with above normal transactions volumes - to act as a transaction server with infrequent changes to code - and you simply must have bulletproof performance - this might be the ticket."
"They've been very reliable since we started using them in 1978, but we're going to replace them in a few years."
"In addition to that, Synergy has better performance; it's newer with a better processor, more capacity for memory, more capacity for CPU, and all of that."
"It is a good product for hypervisors."
"There is no problem with the scalability."
"I highly recommend HPE Synergy to others, as it is user-friendly, high-performing, and has good support."
"The product enables the centralization of all administrative tasks."
"The solution helps us to implement new business requirements quickly with some app deployments."
"We can put a bigger workload on there because the systems can produce a lot more resources now."
"We like that the solution can be arranged for an all-in-one single pane of glass, something our customers find important."

Cons

"The NonStop system is well priced, but the software that runs on it is quite pricey."
"Currently the NonStop platform doesn’t support virtualization of servers or CPU’s. Only storage."
"HPE NonStop could improve by having infrastructure management."
"NonStop (formerly known as Tandem) in the Guardian OS could use another, friendlier macro language."
"The NonStop Support Center is very good, with an occasional bump in the road."
"It would be helpful if they brought the price down."
"The hardware fails often, and I feel that HP really needs to pay more attention to this issue."
"It is not flexible...Not a lot of applications run on HPE NonStop."
"I'd get the firmware to be a little more secure and a little more streamlined."
"The initial setup was quite complex and it is being done by the HPE support department."
"A big thing for me is moving InfoSight for ProLiant into OneView, or at least connecting it. Today we have to use the iLO Amplifier Pack and that would require us to reconfigure iLO on every single one of the servers, independently, to get that data into InfoSight. We're really looking for a single control and management plane."
"In the past, I have had issues with configurations."
"They have not improved their product since it was purchased."
"I'd like to see the firmware updates, as well as the built-in OneView and imager in Composer, become a little more powerful and faster."
"The biggest lesson learned is knowing what you are connecting Synergy to, because there are caveats there and not everything necessarily plays well with Synergy."
"I find the product documentation to be disorganized; it's not intuitive and the info required for checking a specific step-by-step configuration is buried under too much literature."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"On a scale of one to ten, where one is very cheap, and ten is very expensive, I rate the pricing an eight."
"HPE NonStop is definitely on the higher end."
"The price of the solution is too high. If they lowered the price substantially it would open up more opportunities. It's considered a replacement for the old 9000 boxes of HP. If it had a lower price, we would be able to compete in the financial, and other sectors and other solutions such as Terraform. Having a high price makes other solutions more attractive."
"We bought everything outright to start with. We don't do much consumption-based stuff."
"The hardware licensing cost is reasonable."
"For temporal use, when you throw on the fact that you're essentially doubling your capacity, right there you could claim a 50 percent TCO reduction."
"There is a perpetual license given when you purchase HPE Synergy."
"The price point is a little high. We were able to get a good deal on a promotion, to go with it. It would be nice to see the prices come down a little bit."
"For me, the scalability is how much money that I need to spend on switches for how many frames, which ultimately means servers. To get the best bandwidth before the most recent product announcement, I have buy new switches every three frames. The competition is shipping a product right now where I only need switches every ten frames."
"VMware is part of the cost. We bought the chassis, we bought the solution. The blades are roughly running us $60,000 a pop right now."
"The Nutanix platform came in a little more expensive than the Synergy."
