Provides firmware compliance and the ability to connect to iPO
I've been involved in various upgrades. It's pretty easy to set up with vCenter. We just push out an appliance template in vCenter. We run ours on virtual servers. Deployment can be done by just one person. The number of people needed for maintenance will depend on your server inventory. If you have more than 100 servers, you will need three to five people. If you have 500 to 1,000 servers, you will need a team of 10 to 20 people.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The OneView Global Dashboard is very user-friendly and it can be used for monitoring the power consumption and temperature of the data center and racks."
"We can add VLAN and update it."
"The solution's initial setup process was easy...The technical support is good...It is a stable product, and we will use it for a long time."
"We have the dashboard up on a big screen, and you can actually see when things go wrong or if there are any faults with any of the servers. The backup is automated as well, so the appliance is quite good."
"We cannot function without this solution. "
"Profile templates: The ability to generate the profiles and lay them down so the servers are built consistently. I would say that's probably the biggest piece of it."
"Deploys faster new virtual services."
"It's rather simple to use, and that's very important for us."
"Has service mapping, impact management, metric intelligence and health of analytics."
"From my perspective as an asset manager, the most valuable feature of the solution is the configuration management portion, where I can actively add something to the database."
"The way this solution has helped us is that it improved our communication."
"Their Event Management is very good."
"I like the solution mostly for CMDB discovery."
"The solution is easy to use and has great orchestration and automation capabilities."
"I like the tool's CMBD connection with Discovery. The solution is also flexible."
"ITOM communicates information about incidents and maintains them. It handles tickets change, manages service networks, and reduces IT service downtime for the organization."

Cons

"The main problem that we run into, as far as stability goes, is when something loses its profile. Sometimes it requires jumping through a number of "hoops" to really get it back."
"We have a version 3 and a version 1.2, but the upgrade process from the 1.2 to the 3 is kind of an issue."
"We've had a few issues. We just upgraded to the 3.9.0 version. We think that now that we are on that version, hopefully a lot of those things are going to go away for us."
"I think HPE could make more user-friendly interfaces, exclude Java and move to an HTML5 platform, make more detailed documentation, and lower the price."
"My main complaint is about the blades on the frames, which seem to have a lot of problems. We often have to call HPE for replacements, such as for memory."
"It would be better if we can add every HPE device to OneView, such as MSA, as well as the other servers like the DL server and ML server."
"One thing which is missing is that you can't actually log a support call yourself."
"I had some minor difficulties with upgrading, but the solution still works fine."
"Service mapping is pretty limited."
"Regarding ServiceNow, there is room for improvement in terms of customization, particularly in the area of self-customization."
"The solution's subscription model could be improved."
"The solution needs to add mobilization, where we can connect mobile devices or wireless devices to do wireless scanning and bring assets into the database."
"The pricing of some modules is higher because they are sold in packages. If we need something specific, we cannot take it individually."
"The service discovery tool should include HR automations that automatically remove an employee who is leaving."
"It should have better integrations with other solutions."
"The pattern part can be improved. Patterns are used in the Discovery feature. Although it is easy to create new patterns and modify the existing ones, it would be better if this solution can have more out-of-the-box patterns. In terms of new features, they can include artificial intelligence, something like machine learning."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the cost as six out of ten."
"HPE had some other solutions, but they were actually quite expensive to buy. So, when OneView came along, it was kind of reasonable in terms of price for licenses, etc."
"Synergy does not require iLO licenses but servers and enclosures must be purchased."
"HPE could lower the price."
"The solution is free to use, but if you want the management aspect you require a virtual machine such as C7000 or Synergy which require licenses."
"When it comes to the government, money is never an issue, so it was excellent in terms of the HPE OneView licensing cost. Hitachi was cheaper, but I'd rate HPE OneView cost-wise as eight out of ten."
"I am happy with the price."
"This license cost for OneView was $3,000 USD."
"While not entirely sure, I believe the solution costs at least a million dollars annually."
"It has different subscription models."
"The cost of ServiceNow is much higher."
"This solution offers good value but comes at a very high premium. Pricing could be reduced by 10 to 20%."
"It is expensive. It is around 10 Euros per server per month."
"It is moderately expensive. The pricing itself and the licensing options are depending on the model and the customization."
"I would rate the product's pricing a five out of ten since there are vendors who are cheaper."
"The pricing is high and may be excluding the small to medium-sized enterprise businesses."
