The solution's initial setup is neither complex nor too easy. Around six or seven people, including database administrators, were involved in the solution's deployment. On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the solution's initial setup a four to five out of ten.

I've only worked with versions 9.7 and 10.5.1, and I'm not familiar with the newest features in the current version, 10.5.1. However, I'm sure they have incorporated AI capabilities, as that is the current industry trend. It is this new buzzword. Informatica itself introduced CLAIRE AI. I am four versions behind. So, it would be good if I upgraded. Plus, Informatica has rebranded this TDM. It's not even originally from Informatica. They purchased the company that makes the application around 2010. Informatica has purchased so many companies for different purposes, like business-to-business, test data management, and more. They change the trade name so frequently. It used to be ILM, Informatica Lifecycle Management, then they changed it to something else, then Test Data Management, and then Security Governance and Policy Management or something like that. It's all different names for the same product. Frequent rebranding and name changes can create confusion for customers.

Cons

"Pricing and licensing is higher compared to other products."

"In the past, we have waited months for IBM to resolve the problem."
"In the IBM Optim tool, the Synthetic Test Data Generation feature is lagging behind."
"Data masking with InfoSphere Optim products creates intermediary extract files and writing the data to persistent storage, which means that extraction, masking, and insertion happen being separate processes, taking more for the process to run."
"Licensing could be improved. The PVU licensing mechanism is a limiting factor to expanding the use of the tool."

"It should enable DevOps in CI/CD environments There should be compatibility with big data in SAP environments: These are most widely used in the enterprise level of the organization"
"The UI experience is a little bit old. When applying more than 80 columns, it means doing it in phases, as it won't allow it in one go."
"Frequent rebranding and name changes can create confusion for customers."

"There is a lag while opening the console, which is a concern from my end."
"The response from Informatica support was nil."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"You have to pay yearly for the license, which comes at a reduced cost. The monthly payment option for a shorter project duration is also good."
"We purchase TDM's yearly license."
"The cost is not an issue for enterprises, but for smaller businesses, it could be."
"It's expensive because the license needs to be bought for some time period. It's not pay as you go."
