Improves infrastructure planning by helping us analyze network traffic
We use SevOne to collect and report on network flows SevOne improves infrastructure planning by helping us analyze network traffic. We can look at bandwidth for specific endpoints on the customer's network and analyze traffic to identify issues. For example, maybe some connectors are unavailable.…

We can set up a dashboard to monitor the status of an entire site, which provides more insight into any issues across devices
One engineer is enough for the solution's maintenance. There has been a significant improvement in Statseeker in the last few versions. It includes a wallet map and features we plan to implement when deploying the latest or penultimate versions across all our sites. This will significantly assist in identifying sites surpassing thresholds or KPIs, making issue detection much more accessible. The threshold feature is handy for identifying delays and major outages. This graphical map enables us to quickly assess the scope of nationwide problems, allowing for swift action and efficient reporting to management and service providers. This tool facilitates monitoring by visualizing all network elements with their respective coordinates, highlighting any downtimes or issues through color-coded green for operational, orange for approaching thresholds, yellow for minor alarms, and red for critical issues. The tool is a monitoring tool that helps in identifying problems. It is necessary to have someone trained to set up the dashboards because they might require some programming or specific configuration skills. Once it's configured, it works well. It's not as straightforward as other tools where you plug in the device, and everything works. With Statseeker, you still need to put in some effort to set up your dashboard properly. It requires someone with good training and proficiency in setting up these dashboards. They can benefit the technical and operations teams, providing useful insights into the network and the executive management team to receive reports on the overall network health. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Pros

"The tool has given a great visibility of what is going on our network and has helped to troubleshoot network-related issues quickly and accurately."
"It's a great solution for highlighting and discovering useful information regarding our network's elements."
"One of the benefits is that we've been able to leverage one tool to do a lot of things."
"SevOne excels at gathering performance metrics and then making them quickly accessible in ways that I want to view them."
"The most valuable feature as of late has been the API integration with ServiceNow."
"SevOne NPM helps our customers detect performance issues faster and, once it's properly configured, it will help you address some issues right away, cutting troubleshooting time by one to three hours and enabling you to proactively address potential performance issues before a failure occurs."
"With this tool it is interesting to show the info to the client and explain where the traffic is."
"Based on my experience, the stability of IBM SevOne Network Performance Management (NPM) is excellent."
"Customer service is excellent, with a brilliant support team that is always responsive and always positive."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the simplicity of adding new devices into it."
"The product has improved our organization by simplifying monitoring and giving real-time alerts for issues we might not immediately be aware of otherwise."
"The monitoring provided by this solution helps us to track down and solve issues."
"Support is fantastic and Statseeker are always looking to improve."
"This solution has helped us to proactively identify issues and push some of those fixes down to tier one."
"The product does what we need it to do, and definitely gives us heads-up on results and issues we are having in a timely manner."
"The most valuable feature is alerting."

Cons

"The only thing that worries me with SevOne is that they were acquired by Turbonomic and now by IBM."
"The user management features need to be improved. It would be nice if we had more granular control, or layers of control, out of the box."
"Some of the services and functionality are adapted for SevOne via open-source, and the cost is very high. For the price that they are asking, it cannot be justified."
"Customer service is very bad. The support is a kind of blog where you leave your question or problem, then they try to resolve it as soon as possible."
"If you want one tool for everything this should not be considered."
"I think that the downstream suppression could be improved."
"The user management features need to be improved; it would be nice if we had more granular control, or layers of control, out of the box."
"They have all been good at trying to understand our use and business, but some push the sale too hard and that is a turn off."
"I’ve seen two Statseeker techs work several hours to fix it."
"It would be nice if they had twenty-four-hour technical support because we contact Australia and we have to wait for them to open."
"There is a little bit of room to improve in the alerting section to give some more options there."
"The interface could improve a little bit. I find with new users, I tend to have to spend a bit of time walking them through how to use the interface."
"I would like to have soft alarming. If an inner-base all of a sudden triggers a threshold, we have to rely on a lot of other tools and then we go into Statseeker to verify it. If Statseeker would confirm it preemptively and trigger it into our network panel, that would be nice."
"It doesn't do absolutely everything and it will require some additional software or hardware support to be a complete single solution."
"I would like to see the solution incorporate diagnosis of the workstation."
"I would like to see more comprehensive reporting and alerting."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are cheaper solutions available."
"Although I don't have exact details in terms of cost, my experience has been that SevOne is willing to make a deal with the customer."
"Many tools price things based on the number of KPIs that you're collecting around a device. In many cases, there could be hundreds of metrics that you need to collect. SevOne provides device-level pricing. That gives us the flexibility to turn on, and expand on, the metrics that we're collecting around those devices, without taking a financial hit."
"It is inexpensive compared to other monitoring tools."
"The pricing has been fair."
"Prices per license are not huge, but they exist."
"The tool is not expensive. We were able to negotiate with SevOne on pricing."
"Have a bank of licenses, because it is about the number of objects (RAM, ports, CPU, etc.)."
"Statseeker is pretty cheap."
"When it came to selecting this solution, it came down to cost."
"We have permanent licenses so there's really no cost, other than ongoing maintenance. When I think about it, that's running us about $20,000 a year."
"We pay a yearly maintenance fee of approximately $40,000 USD."
"This tool would probably be priced well if it had deeper NetFlow capabilities, but for our use case, in particular, we're only recovering ports after ninety days and looking at circuit congestion, it's pretty pricey."
"Pricing is reasonable but licensing should unlimited."
"We paid $5,000 to $10,000 a year in maintenance."
"It's probably $5K a year for the license."
