A threat intelligence platform aiming to enhance its intelligence
It falls under the category of AI-embedded threat intelligence, which makes detection more efficient by reducing the rate of false positives and improving the overall detection rate. When the threat intelligence alone doesn’t provide enough information, we use other methods to verify the threat. For example, IBM has its threat intelligence team and tools. If the threat intelligence doesn’t yield much information, the tool has a framework that can identify suspicious activity. We then use our judgment and experience to implement compensating controls, whether for a potentially malicious patch, IP address, or any other threat. Customers benefit from it, even if they’re not directly integrating it. Through our service, they receive the benefits of the integration. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Has strengthened our ability to detect threats in real time and improved internal security decision-making
The features that I find most valuable in Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence include the Sentinel part of it. There are several features we've looked at, including Sentinel as well as extended Defender, which is XDR. I've used those two, and that's what I've found quite useful for us, especially in the hardening and analysis part of the whole threat analysis. We use the real-time threat detection features in Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence. If it wasn't for that real-time threat detection on the vulnerability, I think we would not have survived the attack. The integration capabilities of Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence with other Microsoft security tools have benefited our organization's threat management process by initially being quite a challenge, especially coming from other security tools such as Fortinet and Check Point. However, once you've gotten used to it, it's quite easy and user-friendly. The dashboard, especially the threat analysis dashboard, is quite detailed in terms of providing a view of which areas in our environment need attention, making it quite useful.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This product has helped to increase staff productivity."
"IBM X-Force has shortened our lifecycle for cyber security investigations, allowing me to quickly leverage a tool that gives quick visibility, quick understanding, quick investigation, quick drill down, and the ability to close offenses and issues as fast as I can."
"One of the fastest ways to cut costs is reducing staff, and this product can reduce staff by 70 percent."
"The most valuable feature is you have the expertise of human experience directly involved. There is a team of experts."
"It's quite integratable so you can actually integrate and get IP malware and URL information. It also gives you some form of intelligence into what you're trying to investigate or what you're trying to understand."
"The tool can proactively detect potential incidents."
"The user interface is pretty user-friendly."
"One of the best features is that it provides a certain level of customization, allowing us to set our spam confidence levels."
"Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence assesses machines for vulnerabilities and gives remediations."
"Its user-friendliness is its most valuable aspect."
"The product’s most valuable feature is the ability to provide threat detection and protection simultaneously."
"I rate the tool's stability a ten out of ten."
"The tool is managed from the cloud, because of which the maintenance is very low."

Cons

"You have to look for the new information from X-Force. X-Force will provide it but you have to look for it. We need clearer visibility."
"It is very expensive."
"I would like to see better integration with other systems, solutions, and vendors."
"We would like to have more AI capabilities to detect threats and improve its productivity from a cybersecurity standpoint."
"Having up-to-date documentation and real-time reflections in all portals would be beneficial to keep users informed about any changes. Additionally, the frequent changes in Microsoft's UI and the movement of features between different products in the set pose difficulties."
"The price of the solution is an area of concern where improvements are required. In general, the solution's price needs to be reduced."
"The price could be improved."
"I would like to see more integration with other solutions. For example, integration well with Microsoft but not with other solutions."
"There could be a better notification system."
"Non-Microsoft products may not integrate as smoothly."
"The price point is something they can improve slightly for those who don't have an M 365 E5."
"Microsoft itself is a major target for attacks and threats due to its size and popularity. That could be considered Microsoft's Achilles heel."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Cost is clearly a consideration, but the important thing is what we do with the data and how we protect it."
"One of the fastest ways to cut costs is reducing staff, and this product can reduce staff by 70 percent."
"The solution's pricing is reasonable and not very expensive."
"It is an expensive product."
"The tool is expensive as a stand-alone solution. However, it is not cheap when you purchase it as a bundle."
"There is a need to make yearly payments towards the licensing charges attached to the product."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a six or seven out of ten."
"I use the product's default version, which is a free one and not the licensed version."
"Considering Microsoft is constantly changing licensing, I would give it a seven out of ten. It can be difficult to get your head around it, especially for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)."
"They offer two license plans: Microsoft Defender for endpoints and Microsoft Defender for businesses."
