Offers effective monitoring of resources but lacks the ability to connect to an AWS instance and write custom queries.
We use it mainly for monitoring, including CPU, memory, and disk space, and for troubleshooting purposes We've set up alerts to notify us when performance deviates from the baseline we've configured for each resource. So, whenever that happens, we get an alert and can investigate immediately. So,…

Significant enhancement in operations with powerful discovery and analytics, yet pricing structure poses challenges
ServiceNow IT Operations Management provides out-of-the-box dashboards. Along with the dashboard, it also provides the Operations Workspace, which is very useful for operations teams. There is a functionality called Performance Analytics, which we are also using to develop some dashboards for the senior leadership and operations team where they can perform trend analysis of alerts and events happening across the infrastructure and application landscape. These dashboards are really useful here. ServiceNow IT Operations Management's biggest plus point is that it is a platform. ITOM is just one module that ServiceNow IT Operations Management offers, but they provide seamless integration of ITOM with their other modules such as ITSM, where we can leverage the AIs for discovery, perform impact analysis, which essentially helps to enhance the overall IT operations and reduce the downtime and MTTR.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"SQL DM made troubleshooting much easier and allowed multiple people to look into an issue with confidence."
"One of the things that it is used for is to detect anything that could possibly cause our systems not to function well, and it has helped us to determine that before anything has actually happened."
"Ability to identify bottlenecks, deadlocks and slow running queries and run monthly and daily reports."
"The best part of SQL DM is the ability to customize alerts and counters. This allows our team to find an issue then alert on the issue at a granular level."
"There are several monitoring tools, but IDERA SQL Diagnostic Manager is actually better than other competitors."
"We're able to diagnose issues prior to their actually becoming issues. Without the alerting, we wouldn't have a clue as to what was going to happen. With the alerting, it gives us a heads-up that a specific threshold has been met, and we need to take specific action."
"The most valuable features are disk space projections for planning, and also the Snapshotting ability, to look back in time, to see what was going on the server at a particular time. It's basically the output of an sp_who2."
"Baselining our SQL Servers has made a huge impact."
"ServiceNow IT Operations Management is a stable product."
"We use this solution primarily for event management, aggregation, correlation, and analytics, and it has moved from simple correlation to AIOps and helps us and our customers move towards AIOps."
"It is a very stable solution."
"With this solution, operational costs will be reduced, your maintenance cost will be reduced when you use the item model, you will deliver a fast solution to the customers, and if something happens on the server-side or router-side, it will be immediately caught."
"The way this solution has helped us is that it improved our communication."
"The Discovery feature is the most valuable. I only use the Discovery and Service Mapping features. I am using the minor subscription called ITOM Visibility, which includes the Discovery and Service Mapping features. It is easy to understand and easy to use. It has a lot of documentation. You can find a lot of help online, which helps me in finding what I need in a rapid way. You can find videos on YouTube channels and a lot of stuff and information in the online community."
"The impact of ServiceNow IT Operations Management's configuration management on service quality has been significant, as we implemented a common platform for the Adani Group, which is a large company, and we have Adani Wilmar with close to eight or nine separate business units covering oil, gas, steel, and real estate, all having different features and functionality, while keeping the overall process and configuration the same to reduce the run maintenance cost of the overall group company and within Adani, ensuring a single source of truth."
"The reason is it's cost-effective, number one."

Cons

"Tech support has been okay, not that great, but they made sure that we got what we were looking for."
"The initial setup gives too many user rights to the server, so you have to put a user that is part administrator's group - that's the preferred way - on each server, which is kind of a risk. You want to do least privilege and you're not doing that."
"One thing I'd like to see is the ability to view the execution plan and have the system automatically recommend potential query optimizations, especially at the query level."
"They can improve checking the status of the CPU, memory, and IO utilization from each task."
"Scalability is what I mentioned earlier, regarding room for improvement. It doesn't seem to scale out to an environment as large as ours, with just a single monitoring server."
"Some more granularity in alerting."
"I'm going to do an upgrade which may resolve my issues, but one area for improvement is its ability to handle the amount of data that we collect with it. We're likely one of the largest installations, with over 300 servers being collected with this product, and sometimes there are gaps. That would really be my only concern, in terms of how the data is collected and stored, for consistency."
"Reporting and overall analysis of data gathered from SQL Server."
"An area for improvement for ServiceNow IT Operations Management is making service mapping and discovery easier for non-IP devices."
"The pricing is high."
"There are not enough apps in the app store to expand functionality. There should be more made available."
"There are times the application has some performance issue, but it could be because of our network. There should be something done to resolve this."
"Even though they call it low code there are a lot of customizations needed, especially from an ITOM standpoint."
"The pattern part can be improved. Patterns are used in the Discovery feature. Although it is easy to create new patterns and modify the existing ones, it would be better if this solution can have more out-of-the-box patterns. In terms of new features, they can include artificial intelligence, something like machine learning."
"The out-of-the-box reporting feature has room for the improvement, it can be make more user friendly as other tools."
"The CMDB part of ServiceNow IT Operations Management is a little bit too complicated, and it is a bit slow at our company."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We were upgraded to Premium Support without their actually asking us, when we were quoted. Then I asked for Standard Support and that they had to re-quote us that. But they don't do that by default. They upcharge you by default, which I didn't think was very nice, without even asking."
"The pricing is reasonable, it's comparable with the competitors."
"It is moderately expensive. The pricing itself and the licensing options are depending on the model and the customization."
"ServiceNow IT Operations Management is a costly solution. I'd rate the price at ten, on a scale from one to ten with one being the lowest and ten being the highest price. Some clients do have a problem with the price, but most find that the solution is worth the cost."
"This solution offers good value but comes at a very high premium. Pricing could be reduced by 10 to 20%."
"I would rate the product's pricing a five out of ten since there are vendors who are cheaper."
"We obtained discovery licenses at about seven dollars Australian per unit, which we found to be reasonable and competitive."
"While not entirely sure, I believe the solution costs at least a million dollars annually."
"My customers pay for the ServiceNow IT Operations Management license annually. I'd rate the pricing based on value. ServiceNow IT Operations Management is a premium product as it has better features than competitors."
"The solution offers yearly licenses and a subscription model for add-on features."
