It offers different licensing types that allow you to extend the services to clients; it lets you look into device performance and optimization and helps apply best practices
What I like best about IDERA Uptime Infrastructure Monitor is that it offers different licensing types. Hence, it allows my organization to extend the services to clients and not just use the solution within the organization. My organization can leverage IDERA Uptime Infrastructure Monitor to learn more about how clients perform because the solution lets you monitor and optimize devices and apply best practices.

Monitoring solution provides comprehensive visibility across IT infrastructure
The good thing about Nagios Core is it covers everything. Everything in the IT domain, you can monitor anything. You can even monitor printers, the ports of printers, Core workstations, and storage. You can monitor the workflow Core and the utilization of computes. If you want to grasp everything of your IT equipment on a single interface, you can use Nagios. It's the best one. It provides dashboards, and you can also configure your emails and alerts with it. If something is critical, you can configure it to notify via emails. It has a very handy dashboard, providing live alerts and visibility for everything.

Pros

"My organization can leverage IDERA Uptime Infrastructure Monitor to learn more about how clients perform because the solution lets you monitor and optimize devices and apply best practices."
"Now with the features given through up.time we have over 300 + monitors constantly checking every environment that we have and also checking databases for errors."
"Customer Service: 5 stars! Excellent. Technical Support: 5 stars! Excellent."
"Easy to setup and begin monitoring."
"Nagios allows IT staff and end-users to see the status of critical services on the network and can alert and notify selected users if critical services fail, reducing the mean time to recover."
"We are using Nagios Core on a VM and it's working very well, even though the specs of the VM are very low because it doesn't require much storage."
"The most valuable features are the reports and the way it generates the report in a graphical manner."
"Nagios Core is a great tool for monitoring the infrastructure including MSM queues, and when we use the agent, we can add other things as well."
"What I like about Nagios Core is that it helps me ensure everything is running smoothly by checking the status of hosts and services."
"Extensibility is good as this makes it easy to write checks on your own."
"Nagios doesn't get the respect it deserves; most likely due to the fact that it doesn't have a licensing cost."
"Before we implemented Nagios, we did not know which servers were up or down until a customer told us, and now I can see trends over time and it gives me perspective of what needs to be improved so we are able to work proactively as opposed to reactively."

Cons

"While you can restrict particular users to only see subsets of the reports, it isn't as easy as it could be."
"What I want to improve in IDERA Uptime Infrastructure Monitor is the community aspect, where IDERA would provide customers with updates on functionalities, what comes next, what IDERA Uptime Infrastructure Monitor upgrades would be released, etc. I also want the sustainability of IDERA Uptime Infrastructure Monitor to improve."
"Maintenance windows need to be streamlined."
"The UI is a little outdated and graphics could be displayed in a better way."
"Nagios Core does not have a graphic display."
"It is a bit slow due to latency."
"Cloud monitoring is an area for improvement because there aren't too many plugins available."
"The interface could be improved."
"We're using the free version, which limits us in terms of the things that we can do. If we had the paid version, a lot of our issues would probably go away. For example, we can't isolate instances that are being built or updated with the production ones. When they're being built, on Nagios, they're showing in red. It'd be nice to be able to partition those off until they're all green, and then we can bring them into the environment. This is probably because we've got the free version and not the paid version. If we went for the paid version, it would probably allow us to do exactly what we want to or remove the restrictions that we have, but if we are able to isolate instances in the free version, it would make life much easier."
"There is room for improvement in the graphics."
"This solution is not scalable at all. If you want to add an AI, or if you wanted to monitor different types of metrics, you won't get the most out of it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I'm based in Nigeria, and the conversion rate affects the pricing for IDERA Uptime Infrastructure Monitor, but globally, pricing is reasonable. I'm rating pricing for the solution seven on a scale of one to ten."
"Nagios Core is an open source solution, and there are no licensing fees."
"Most the plugin features are free."
"We are using the open-source, unpaid version."
"I would rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
"The Nagios Core (PNP4Nagios + Core) is free and can be setup by Netadmin within a few hours. The only additional cost is the cloud server."
"The solution is expensive."
"Nagios Core is a cheap solution."
"The enterprise version has technical support. The version we are using is free."

Nagios Core is a free and open-source product. We don't charge for the product itself, but we charge for the man-hour costs related to installation, configuration, ongoing operation, and maintenance.
What needs improvement with Nagios Core?
The dashboard should be improved. It's very simple. I don't have a very clear or specific suggestion. You can change the skin of the dashboard, however, it's good for me.
What is your primary use case for Nagios Core?
I was a senior system administrator. I've been using Nagios Core for more than ten years now. It can be used to monitor hosts, such as machines, and monitor services of any kind. I'm using it to mo...
