I have experience with AWS, and I am most familiar with the server environment, as we just use the server environment and then use Microsoft products on an AWS environment. I have experience with Windows Server IIS, which I ran on my own on-premise data center. The website was developed and then hosted, and through IIS, we managed the servers. The manageability within the IIS environment is not very difficult. For server management, you need to ensure data backup, data restore, and you have a DR configured to keep the database intact. It was done on-premises, so I had no problem doing that. If you have to go to the cloud, then you should have the storage connected to the IIS server and also have a DR set up for that. I didn't use Microsoft Azure tools, but since it is a Microsoft product, Azure has all the portability, so you don't have to worry about compatibility on the cloud. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate this solution a 10.

Pros

"The initial setup of this solution is very easy."
"When you are working with Microsoft solutions, you will see that the integration with the operating system, and implementing some security features, are easier in IIS than when using another solution."
"What I like the most is that it is easy to use."
"The tool shows us the operating systems where our servers and applications are running."
"What I like most about this program is the fact that it's built into Windows, and then I also like the interface and the support."
"The solution is the easiest way to publish applications which have been designed by older development tools."
"It's good and offers good usability."
"It is a lightweight web host that is easy to configure for simple webpages."
"They integrated it with the SAP router."
"Workflow functionality and internal portal capabilities are the most important features."
"Internal workflow approval around ESS and MSS leave days, capex approval as well as internal communication to the business have improved the way my organization functions."
"The technical support is good."
"From the use of this solution, we have been able to establish better processes and have greater management of our company."

Cons

"Products based on Microsoft .NET do not give companies lot of options; either with Server Operating System shipped IIS, or the developer version called IIS Express."
"IIS could improve the error logging. There are times we are not able to see the errors. More details would be helpful. Additionally, the configuring of the IIS should be allowed through coding instead of the classic view."
"The solution could offer better pricing."
"The solution's stability needs improvement."
"They need to improve their response time and first level support quality because the escalation process takes too long."
"Having no support for other than a Microsoft environment and programming languages limits the usage of IIS in many cases."
"IIS could improve by having some features related to URL rewrite, ARR (Application Request Routing) and HTTPS certificate generation."
"Presently, some developers do not have technical knowledge of managing IIS, so that needs to be improved in the next release."
"We encountered stability issues, especially on external functionality around its RFP capabilities."
"The user interface could be improved by making it more user-friendly."
"Due to our business, some setups were very complex."
"Our customers expect that a page will open within one second, and I doubt this will happen. Also, opening documentation takes time. Fixing this will help the customer and help to meet their expectations."
"The cost of this solution is high."
"External portal functionality with suppliers and customers needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"IIS's pricing is not expensive."
"They offer a one-time payment model for the product license, and we pay annually for support."
"I was using the trial version of IIS inside my virtual machines."
"The cost for IIS is already included in Windows services. We don't have to pay anything extra."
"There is no license required for the product as it is role-based. Whenever you go for a Windows platform server, the role has to be installed directly from the server manager. There is no additional cost that has to be paid for that. It is free to use."
"There is no license needed to use the solution."
"I think it's part of the Windows Server, so you won't have any other costs to add in order to use the IIS service."
"The tool is included with Windows."
"The cost of this solution is high."
"SAP is not for every business. It depends on what is required. SAP is always going to be expensive."
"Because India is so competitive in the IT world, people will start to move away from SAP's pricing because they have a market monopoly. Soon, they will start losing the monopoly part to open source and other things. I don't think their monopoly will run for more than three to four years because people are getting away from these monopolies."
