Match and merge functionality is still the best but cloud version needs more functionality
There are various areas for improvement in IDMC. Enhancements on basic data management functionality and the UI front, such as multiple templates and improved grid views, would be beneficial. Bulk data management features could be improved from the UI perspective to get to the level of the on prem versions of Informatica MDM. The tool needs to mature but missing small but important features, like restricted dynamic attributes functionality, data inheritance rules in master hierachies, identifiers not being passed in jobs is a drawback.

Allows us to integrate different cloud services with different applications
It's lacking a lot of mapping features that Oracle OSB and SOA have. It needs to evolve a lot. When it comes to mapping, you are quite restricted. If you have to use a specific, typical function, you need to do a Java callout or something. OSB has a lot of features they are using like Java APIs because it's on-premises.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Informatica Cloud Data Integration is stable."
"The data mapping capability is a valuable feature."
"There are a couple of valuable features. One is that it is very quick on the profiling. So, you get a very fast snapshot of the type of data that you're looking at from the profiling perspective. It can highlight anomalies in the data."
"The most valuable features are data quality, data integrate transformations, match-merge, and a few MDM solutions we build into data quality transformation."
"The most valuable features of Informatica MDM are its reliability, match functions, and integration capabilities. The out-of-box functionality of deduplication and built-in data models ensure faster implementation."
"I do find Informatica Data Quality is stable. It generally maintains a high level of reliability and stability, making it an asset."
"Informatica provides a comprehensive solution for on-the-fly or real-time data masking."
"I rate the technical support a ten out of ten."
"Oracle integration cloud has got the adapters for all their products, which makes integration faster."
"The solution is easy to manage and offers good integration. You can run all the tasks one by one which is really helpful, and pick the day and time to do so."
"Having a single vendor supporting the entire suite of applications."
"Oracle Data Integrator helps us build tables and data marts and allows us to schedule them daily, for nearly real-time data warehousing."
"The data is stored in the cloud, making it easy to download data simultaneously into multiple smaller servers, effectively downsizing the process."
"The most valuable thing to me is its simplicity. A person with zero knowledge can also develop the integration without having extensive technology knowledgebase. They can also work on creating their own integration."
"It's on the cloud, so it's scalable and quite easy to work with."

Cons

"We cannot sell the product directly with an additional layer."
"In terms of cost effectiveness, Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) is more than 20% costly compared to the industry."
"The cloud version of Axon is far behind the on-prem, and many of my clients want to go fully to the cloud. However, Axon has to be an on-prem installation. I would like to see their cloud products catch up with their on-prem capabilities."
"The tool could be improved in terms of ease of use, particularly for those without technical expertise. Understanding and extracting data from the table-based structure requires some SQL knowledge and technical skills. Additionally, while Informatica MDM has moved towards a cloud-based MDM with a UI similar to Reltio, I haven't used it, so I can't comment on its effectiveness."
"I need to have some insight into the tool's cloud capabilities."
"This solution is hard to set up and its interface is not user-friendly. It's also not as stable, and the technical support takes a lot of time to solve simple problems."
"The pricing model is problematic."
"Informatica is very expensive."
"It's lacking a lot of mapping features that Oracle OSB and SOA have. It needs to evolve a lot."
"This is an expensive solution compared to other products on the market."
"I would like to see different cloud adapters or connectors in case of integration. When you have Oracle to Oracle, they are good. They have really good connectors, but if it is a different ERP, like Obsidian, that is where they are faced with problems in OIC."
"It can be made much easier for users. They should be allowed to easily monitor the data extraction and flow, allowing them to observe real-time data flow within the software, making the process straightforward."
"The pricing could be more competitive."
"I've found technical support not very effective. They should work to improve their services."
"Bulk uploading can be a problem when you hit the upper limit."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is very expensive"
"It's a very expensive solution"
"Comparatively, their prices are a little bit too high."
"The pricing structure is good, but having to pay for extra drivers to be used in an ICS environment makes me a little nervous."
"We switched to Informatica PIM because it was cheaper than the Oracle solution. It is cheaper initially, but they will bundle it later. This is what happens in the industry."
"The price is neither too high nor too low."
"The price is comparable."
"The pricing is quite flexible."
"The price is competitive compared to Boomi which is much higher."
