We use the solution for web services.
It would be good to enhance the schedule interface. There is no indication that lets us know if a module has stopped. Shortly speaking, each business host has color in the Production page. Meanings of colors are described in a "Legend" link on the Production page. Also, each business host either has or has no private pool (processes that work with its queues). When we stop a business host by scheduling, its private processes are killed (if they exist). Such a situation is not expressed in changing business host color. The only way to check if a business host is stopped by scheduling is to check its processes presence.

Has enabled complex data flow management but faces limitations with modern integration needs
There are areas of Oracle SOA Suite I would like to see improved or enhanced in the future, particularly regarding its adapter capabilities. The popularity of Oracle Integration Cloud nowadays arises from its larger set of adapter capabilities, including numerous application adapters. In contrast, Oracle SOA Suite provides a limited number of adapters. I would like to see more REST-based features added to Oracle SOA Suite, currently lacking, along with an enhancement of file size or payload capability, as the existing limitation is a 10 MB payload size. Additionally, Oracle SOA Suite licensing cost tends to be higher, adhering to a fixed pricing model rather than a pay-per-use basis, which might not be suitable for smaller organizations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The InterSystems technical support (WRC) is perfect and highly qualified."
"Valuable features include web service development and cloud connectivity."
"Once it's in production, for the organization, I think the most valuable feature is its ability to track and trace every single message all the way from the beginning to the end."
"It encompasses a lot of different apps."
"The Managed File Transfer (MFT) is a great addition to the product set managing all our file transfer capability, encryption, decryption, monitoring, visibility and resubmission of transfer."
"The solution's XSLT or XSL Transformation feature was very useful."
"Having data from applications like a parking system imported into the financial system reduces the revenue processing cycle by ninety percent, with the added benefits of automation, security, and reliability."
"Overall, it's a mature and complete platform, ideal for implementing high-quality business solutions."
"In Oracle SOA Suite some applications are not able to use REST, but it can support both SOAP and REST. You're able to integrate quite a lot of systems, which may not be able to in other solutions. You can also use XML and JSON. It is a standardizing type of tool. It doesn't matter whether I'm using JSON or XML, it can convert them."

Cons

"It would be good to enhance the schedule interface."
"The biggest challenge is getting useful information to troubleshoot when something goes wrong."
"The technical support is good, we have premier support which costs extra."
"We faced some issues, particularly in clustered environments."
"SAP adapter gave so much trouble while configuring it, and not proper documentation is helpful from Oracle."
"Decrease the number of internal resources which the product uses."
"Customers experience issues standing up environments. Unless an experienced administrator is involved, having an environment that is clustered and load balanced requires quite a bit of time."
"In our experience, technical support is really bad and needs a lot of work."
"It adds not only another layer of point of failure but also another requirement which clients need to keep in mind while building the environment or upgrading."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Oracle pricing is expensive. Support is based on your license. AWS is much better than Oracle in this regard."
"It is necessary to evaluate the requirement regarding the platform usage and what the main operation area of the platform will be."
"Based on my knowledge, Oracle SOA Suite doesn't have user-based licensing. It has a system-based licensing model, so you pay for whole systems. Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution, so it's a four out of ten for me."
"Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution."
"The product is moderately priced."
"This product is WebLogic based, hence it can be both resource hungry as well as expensive from a licensing point of view."
"The pricing is not very high as compared to its competitors."
