Easy to use, stable, and easy to install
We use this solution for the Ministry of Defense and the special agencies It adds value to our existing platform, and therefore our system becomes more important for the customer. The most valuable feature is the ease of use and the full reach of services. It's pretty decent, and I don't see…

Has improved network visibility and security through micro-segmentation and SDN capabilities
This feature gives us flexibility and allows us to manage everything under one pane. We can see everything on one console, including network operations and behavior. Monitoring and security are among the best features for VMware NSX. For micro-segmentation, it's integrated with our endpoint security. If there are any issues with servers or VMs, it notifies us so we can isolate the servers and investigate. It provides distributed security features such as firewall and intrusion, IDS, IPS. The security level with IPS and IDS in VMware NSX is excellent. It also provides logical switching and routing which gives an extra layer for Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching requirements. The solution provides flexibility, automation, and self-service capabilities, resulting in cost savings as extensive expertise isn't required. Once automation and self-service are implemented, many tasks can be completed automatically. Load balancing is another excellent feature. Multiple servers can run on load balancing features, which is particularly useful since we have many application servers running. Sharing loads between servers provides the best performance.

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the ease of use and the full reach of services."
"It adds value to our existing platform, and therefore our system becomes more important for the customer."
"The best part is the blueprint creation where I can create their things and then move on to the target environment."
"When using for K8s container platforms or a networking backed for on premises cloud using a CMP(VRA, VIO) then VMware NSX is the best SDN solution."
"They have a lot of support and specialists who can meet with the customer."
"It operates on a logical level, providing a comprehensive and centralized way to manage your network resources."
"VMware NSX is a great product for network virtualization, and it's great for enhancing security at the virtual machine level."
"The initial setup is easy and takes between one and five days."
"You're building a scalable solution, a secure solution, and a stable end-to-end solution; these are the main measurable benefits VMware NSX provides to the users."
"It works and it is powerful in terms of governance, telemetry, ease of use, and ease of deployment."

Cons

"I would like to see it integrate with third-party systems."
"If you start with a new or greenfield environment, it is okay to implement. However, if there are other solutions already in place, it can be difficult to implement."
"Since most people are very much used to physical networking, they find it difficult to use VMware NSX in the initial stage."
"The response time of the technical support team could improve. We also sometimes had the feeling that they didn't properly understand the issue."
"The network-extending capabilities for the physical environment need improvement."
"Their licensing model should make it easier to purchase licenses."
"We've have had good and bad experiences with them. We don't always find them to be so impactful. Sometimes the support guy isn't so on top of resolving the issue and it can take a while to sort out."
"Quite a complex solution."
"There is room for improvement in VMware NSX's workload management, particularly in the orchestration layer and in managing workloads across multiple clouds."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licensing costs are yearly."
"The price of VMware NSX is reasonable."
"The pricing model for VMware NSX is good."
"VMware has always been geared towards enterprise and their pricing options are a bit high. Their price is higher than other options in the market."
"If five is a good price and one is a high price, I would rate the price a one out of five."
"Our customers have definitely complained about its cost. It's expensive. I'd rate it a nine out of ten in terms of pricing where ten represents a high price. There are other products out there that are equally expensive."
"Pricing and licensing could be improved as we are a government entity. Lower pricing could always help."
"The tool's pricing is reasonable."
"The price is based on the virtual desktop infrastructure(VDI) side and also is dependant on the size of the environment. The price is expensive and it could attract more purchasers in smaller organisations if it was reduced."
