Provides detection logic that tells us which customer will record an update and is less expensive than other solutions
I haven't had experience with customer service and support, however, we did have an advisory case with one of their technical support staff. We were publishing and getting the full metadata for the patch. We were getting the full updates for the patch release. There was confusion as to why we were seeing that in the SCCM, instead of in the full metadata patch. The support person was able to help us in understanding what we were doing wrong, highlighting it could be a certificate issue. We generated a new certificate, and after they were applied, the issue was fixed. Overall, I would rate their customer service and support a five out of five.

Automated patching has transformed risk-based remediation and now optimizes security workflows
I can highlight two areas for improvement. The first is better reporting flexibility and dashboard customization. Qualys VMDR has a great dashboard that I can customize, but Qualys Patch Management does not have a specific dashboard associated only with patch management and patch compliance. The customization could be improved significantly. The second area is third-party application coverage. Qualys Patch Management works very effectively when patching servers, internal servers, Windows, iOS, or Linux servers. However, when doing application security with third-party applications that require patches, it sometimes fails to complete the patch. The deployment issue with third-party applications needs enhancement, as even with integration, Qualys Patch Management is not able to deploy patches for some third-party applications. These are the two main points I can highlight for improvement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of Ivanti Patch for SCCM is the detection logic."
"This solution is stable."
"It was complicated because there were so many different moving parts, that's where Qualys Patch Management comes in and is able to work across all platforms, it's easy because you don't have to manage all kinds of different things for every cloud."
"We've been able to reduce organizational risk by 50%."
"Qualys Patch Management helps reduce our client's organizational risk by 50 percent."
"Qualys Patch Management offers numerous valuable features, including automatic patching for Google browsers, which allows for scheduled updates immediately upon vendor release."
"Patch Management supports various software lists when compared to Microsoft Intune. It is especially beneficial for non-Microsoft applications. I can create a schedule, and various patches can be automatically deployed."
"Patch Management gave my side and the security side a single pane of glass and the ability to better coordinate the delivery of patches."
"I would recommend Qualys Patch Management 100% because it works for me, it is a necessity for IT SOC teams, and it is easy to deploy and understand."
"Policy enforcement requires less time for my team because users cannot avoid applying updates. The user can skip two or three times or for a maximum of eight hours. After that, there is no way to avoid it. It helps us keep the environment safe."

Cons

"In future releases, I would like to see improvements with the feature upgrade for the SCCM, which Microsoft has already integrated. Currently, Ivanti does not give us information about the enablement package."
"We have some problems with patches not installing successfully."
"This authentication requirement blocks some patches from being pushed through Qualys, leaving them in a locked state."
"The Qualys agent sometimes encounters authorization issues, leading to inaccurate vulnerability reports."
"It is pretty good. However, it would be good to have more widgets and AI-generated reports. I have not seen anything related to AI with Qualys. It would be beneficial for Qualys to incorporate AI-generated tools for Patch Management and VMDR. This could assist in managing risks, providing AI-generated reports, and creating risk letters for clients, which can streamline communication."
"To be improved or enhanced in Qualys Patch Management, some patches are not automatically updated."
"I deploy patches to endpoints and servers every month. However, despite a job showing as successful, I need to examine the job in detail."
"One downside of Qualys Patch Management is that I would love to see them speed up the process of verifying patches and then rolling them out."
"Reporting needs enhancement, particularly with group-based compliance percentages and clearer, VMDR-like reporting in the Patch Management module."
"Qualys should improve by offering a dedicated testing environment for patches, allowing clients to test patches before deploying them to production."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We do not have a license with Ivanti, instead we buy just the plugins for the consoles, making it a much less expensive option versus other solutions."
"Qualys is fairly priced."
"Compared to other tools, the price of Qualys Patch Management is reasonable."
"Qualys Patch Management comes as part of a bundled package with several modules, making it a cost-effective deal for us."
"Qualys Patch Management's pricing could be more competitive, as it presents a significant obstacle for many companies who find it unaffordable."
"Qualys Patch Management is expensive."
"Qualys Patch Management is a cost-effective solution for managing our 43,000-plus assets."
