Oracle's support is not that good for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. Their support is expensive, and I don't think you're getting your bang for your buck. For the cloud product, they do give you support, but everything is online and you might not get somebody. I would give Oracle's support for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne about a 6.5 on a scale of one to 10.

Less expensive than some competing solutions, but it's hard to handle logistics management at scale
We're having problems with logistics and warehouse management, and we don't know if we have the right module from Penta. When shipments come into our warehouse, they have to plug it into the Penta system and find the right place to store them. They have to go through the same process on the way out. Our production department has to do the same thing each time to prepare the material for production and get the goods out of the store. It takes a lot of time. I don't know if there are any automated solutions for it. We also do internal manufacturing orders from the German branch of our company. We send an order to the manufacturing department for every car and they have to enter each individual order into the system. The production manager spends so much time organizing this task.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"A stable and solid product."
"The solution is very easy to set up."
"It is very straightforward to deploy and set up."
"JD Edwards is a configurable software solution; they provide you with the ability to be able to configure the software so that you can run your business in the manner that you choose."
"There are numerous good features."
"The most valuable feature for us is its robustness, especially coming from the system we had before because it can do so many more things."
"The most valuable feature is the scope of functionality that JD Edwards covers."
"The most valuable features of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne are financial reporting, procurement, and project management."
"Penta offers a single way to solve our problems rather than building a new ERP system in the company."
"I believe Penta costs less than SAP"

Cons

"The initial setup of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is straightforward. However, it could improve."
"The solution could be easier to implement. However, the complexity was in our internal processes meeting our country's requirements. Every country has a slightly different process, taxation, and rules. That was the difficult part, not the solution itself. I expect our experience would have been more or less the same with any ERP, such as SAP, Navision, or Dynamics."
"The flexibility of workflows and multi-industry implementation support should be improved."
"The licensing is expensive compared to other solutions on the market."
"JD Edwards EnterpriseOne could improve the speed because sometimes it takes time to load into the environment. This is typical when the ESU patch packages are used."
"While it is easy to handle, there is room for improvement compared to more sophisticated ERP systems."
"We actually found it to be quite hard to use and to lack user-friendliness, which is the reason we decided to move."
"Some modules are expensive and there is an annual software maintenance cost as well."
"However, the production guys tell me that Penta is not suitable for mass production. If we build a hundred cars per day or more, then we'll have problems. At the same time, I can't say whether the issue is Penta or our process. In other words, maybe we have too many manual projects in it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is an annual license for this solution."
"The licensing costs are on a yearly basis, and there are no additional costs."
"The price of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is high. However, every ERP solution has a high price."
"It depends on the number of users and the modules that you want to buy. It is licensed on a perpetual license basis. You buy the license costs upfront, and then there is maintenance for support that you pay every year, which is typically about 20%."
"The pricing is an "arm-and-a-leg". This keeps the customers away from going for J.D. Edwards."
"The solution is really expensive."
"The licensing is for mid-market businesses, where it is cheaper than Oracle Cloud, EBS, or SAP."
"JD Edwards EnterpriseOne has a lot of value for the money. The implementation cost and license cost are quite reasonable compared to other solutions, such as Oracle EBS or SAP."
