Good scalability, useful in terms of collective analytics, and low latency
For a hybrid cloud area, I see some issues when on the hybrid cloud; you want to use this kind of solution. It doesn't work great everywhere. If it's a complete solution from them, then it's very great. But when it's a hybrid cloud I'm trying to make, then I find some issues here. Moreover, my expectations were probably slightly more for the third-party tool integration; for example, regarding the analytics, I had some different tools. So, integration was not as good as I was expecting. So, analytics, configuration tool I was not really happy. So, there is room for improvement in context with integration with existing tools in our network environment.

Have faced limitations due to high costs but have maintained reliability over time
The primary issue is the pricing, which is very expensive for my company's budget. We cannot afford to pay such a large fee. We are not Microsoft or BMW; we are a small company. As a small company, I have no power to negotiate directly with VMware. Perhaps larger companies have more opportunity to contract directly with VMware, but I do not have that leverage. The only path I can follow is to change solutions. Net.spA is a company working in the field of waste management. We are not a technological company, so we do not have a large margin to justify purchasing and maintaining the VMware infrastructure at current costs.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution's technical support is good."
"It's a stable product. I didn't find any issues with regard to stability. I would rate the stability a ten out of ten."
"This gives us an inventory, and when our outsource partner comes back and says, "We don't know what's wrong," we can just go on the console and say, "Well, this is what's wrong.""
"You take all of vCenter's built-in items and you've got one pane of glass for the policies: DRS policies, SRM policies, all of those things work well with VROps."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to drill down and figure out exactly where CPU and memory contention could possibly be."
"It provides optimization recommendations for data centers, cluster workload migrations, and vSAN."
"It is easy to see when something has gone wrong. We just have to go in and fix it. The reduced time it takes to spot and fix an issue has improved my organization. It saves the amount of resources that we use to fix an incident"
"It gives us a pane of glass to troubleshoot all our VMware technologies in one place."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to check the right-sizing of a machine because that way I can assign the real resources that are needed."
"Monitoring is the most valuable feature for us. When our customers have a problem and we can monitor it in real time or evaluate the history of the problem."

Cons

"This solution has a yearly licensing. In my country, it's really expensive."
"My expectations were probably slightly more for the third-party tool integration; for example, regarding the analytics, I had some different tools. So, integration was not as good as I was expecting. So, analytics, configuration tool I was not really happy. So, there is room for improvement in context with integration with existing tools in our network environment."
"I sure don't find the solution to be intuitive or user-friendly. It takes a lot of time to get familiar with the interface. You've got to spend a lot of time poking around there, it's not very user-friendly. There have been improvements over the versions but, even still, there is a pretty steep learning curve for the product, in my opinion. In the latest and greatest version, there has been quite a bit of a step up from the last version, as far as the user interface goes. they are making improvements. So that's positive."
"I'd like to see more of the advanced reporting without having to go to the advanced product and paying the extra price. Canned reports are great, but you shouldn't have to pay for custom reports."
"vROps has a hypervisor level of monitoring going on in our data center. We are using other products, like SolarWinds, to have a service and OS-level of monitoring. Because we are using two solutions simultaneously for different levels of monitoring, it would be really nice in the future to have a service monitoring or OS-level of monitoring in vROps, e.g., adding the support online for monitoring services, like Linux services, Linux Databases, and Linux servers as well as Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Active Directory, or other Microsoft services, since we use them a lot. It would definitely help us in the future if vROps implemented this feature."
"Stability is a significant area that needs improvement as I experience frequent disconnections and interruptions in data collection."
"I would like to have more documentation, in the form of knowledge bases, that better explain the technology, related products, and what the capabilities are."
"I’m not as comfortable with regard to stability."
"I think I made a mistake in choosing VMware."
"If Aria could send alerts when a specific system or VM is using excessive resources, we could consult the storage team to address the problem proactively."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"If one is low price and ten is high price, I rate the product price a ten."
"The solution has a huge cost. If we could just have one license covering everything that vROps can do, that would be great. I would prefer it this way."
"I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"Our budgets are always tight. We would like to have more features at lower licensing levels for easier access to them."
"VMware support is very costly compared to other organizations' support. When you purchase a VMware product, such as vSphere or vROps, the license is perpetual, but you also have to purchase the support service for a number of years. The support service pricing is very high compared to the license, and compared to competitive vendors."
"As we continue to implement it across multiple environments, it reduces costs as well."
"If you compare the prices of VMware and the cloud solutions along with the components that you may use, I feel that it may be costly."
"It is an affordable solution that doesn't require any additional costs."
