A stable solution that can be used for data discovery, but it should include more tutorials for new users
We use Kyvos for data discovery and drilling down to the exact data point The most valuable features of Kyvos are reconciliation and its ability to query big data. Since I couldn't find any tutorials or a handbook, I had some initial difficulty understanding the UI and the whole interface of…

Microsoft Power BI has many features and there is not a lot to improve. However, the licensing can be confusing. When deciding between Pro and Premium, I find it difficult to distinguish what features are offered by Pro and what features are offered by Premium, including the particular differences to choose between both licensing models. Additionally, some features such as DAX, which I mentioned previously, involve DAX calculations and complex data modeling, which are somewhat advanced and not easily understandable. Prior knowledge is required or you need to go through the documentation. If the documentation is made comprehensive so that anyone with no knowledge on DAX can easily use it by going through the documentation, it would be really helpful. Additionally, if the integration with non-Microsoft tools is improved and performance is optimized, then Microsoft Power BI can become a top-ranked visualization tool. The user experience with Microsoft Power BI is quite good. The intuitive user interface makes it easy for both technical and non-technical users to create reports. However, only the advanced features are somewhat complex, and if the documentation is improved, it can be easily accessible.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features of Kyvos are reconciliation and its ability to query big data."
"Allows business users with a mission to solve their own problems, without an IT person."
"The uploading of information is very easy, as you just use an Excel sheet to start work right away and obtain the benefits of Power BI."
"The solution is easy to use."
"We are aware that sometimes when we make changes to BI, the solutions might be complex, but Microsoft is quite helpful as we work through issues and we are quite satisfied with their level of support."
"It has the most secured database that I have ever used, which is the most important part of Microsoft BI."
"My primary use is for view of the dashboard."
"The best features of Microsoft Power BI include its integration with other Microsoft products and its ability to connect applications within the Microsoft ecosystem."
"With AI in Microsoft Power BI, when we ingest the data and use the GenAI tools at our disposal, AI helps automate the process and represent the visualizations to our customers and clients."

Cons

"Since I couldn't find any tutorials or a handbook, I had some initial difficulty understanding the UI and the whole interface of Kyvos."
"It would be better if they had some video tutorials. Most people from an Excel background may struggle with measures in Microsoft BI."
"I feel that scalability is one area where there is room for improvement. When there is a huge volume of data, like when we apply the aggregation, the reporting slows down."
"The cost of the solution can get high."
"While support is okay, they need to improve it a lot."
"The UI looks awkward once the graphs have been generated in the console. They should make the graphs more user-friendly, because other parts of Microsoft Power BI are user-friendly, but the graphical representations aren't."
"Real-time data integration is an area for improvement."
"Currently, the time it takes to merge two tables in Power BI makes the entire analysis quite complex because it requires common numbering in one table and then creating another common indicator in another table in order to merge the two."
"Spatial data support should be enhanced."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Its licensing cost is very high. It is $20 per user, which is very high, but it is a good product, so you pay for it."
"MS BI comes with all the tools and it is, to the best of my knowledge, the most affordable solution."
"We view it as an expensive product."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"I rate the product pricing a ten."
"Once the trial period for the BI service is over, the cost is approximately $10 USD per user, per month, so it's quite reasonable."
"Power BI is cheaper than Tableau and Cognos."
"In the beginning, the solution cost approximately $1,000 per month, we have a Microsoft startup subscription. There is a subscription pack for startups company which we are able to have for one year."
