Great for remote brainstorming with good organizational features and color coding capabilities
There's a bit of a learning curve. It's a little bit harder than something like Asana which I have been using for six years. However, overall I'd give it maybe a B-plus. It'll probably take me about another week or so to really get a hang of it. Due to the fact that you can't force everyone to be in the room to brainstorm, it’s made the process maybe 20% slower. I love remote work, however, remote work is also slower in a couple of ways when you're doing collaborative stuff. You're more productive remote when you're by yourself, and yet, collaboration can be a little slower. The solution doesn’t make it easier to prioritize ideas. It's more about just getting a bunch of ideas up there quickly, and then we prioritize them in Jira. There are a few too many sub-menu options under the breakout board and the team tools. While the layout looks good, there are too many options to click through. There's a little bit of latency with the collaboration bit. Overall it's not quite as fast as Google Docs, however, it's really close.

Helps streamline thought processes of users
There was no need for me to use the tool's integration capabilities. From a ground level, I use the tool to prepare a mind map based on my own thoughts, so I don't see any value in the product. The tangible benefits I have experienced from the implementation of the product stem from the fact that a lot of thought processes are involved, and it also streamlines thought processes. The template helped me to define a lot of functionalities, and understand the functionalities of each vertical. Everything is easy in the product. I have experience with the free version of the solution, so I am not sure about the pricing. Even if the pricing part is considered for the solution, I feel it is really cheap and affordable. When I used to use the product in the past, GenAI was not a part of the tool. AI is not required everywhere. Just because AI is available, it doesn't mean that it has to be everywhere and it is not the right approach. AI probably provides some suggestions to help users. The mobile version looks easier for me. The product offers desktop and mobile versions. The value derived from the use of the product around the fact that the thought process gets streamlined, and you will feel well-organized using the product. I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I find it a whole lot easier for making a flowchart process. Previously, I would use PowerPoint and then have to share the file. It's a lot nicer for collaboration."
"The virtual whiteboard board is amazing. That is something that we've all needed, and I wish I knew about this back when I was focusing on my master's in university. That would have made things so easy. I struggled with MindManager and all these other free programs that you can use to make your mind maps and share your process with your supervisors and your classmates. Lucidspark would have been a lot easier to use and would've been a really good thing to have back then."
"The virtual whiteboard is also absolutely fantastic. It has streamlined all of those aspects that we would have done via PowerPoints and other types of on-the-fly screen sharing that were used in the past. Now, everyone can be in the same space. That part of it really helps us to feel confident and allows us to be more engaged with the client and vice-versa, with the client being engaged with us."
"I really liked the sticky notes. They made it easy to change the colors, just click and add ideas, move those ideas around, and then connect them. I felt like they were very intuitive and easy to use."
"The virtual whiteboard for brainstorming high-level ideas and concepts is great. It's ideal for things like moving around sticky notes and having an infinite whiteboard."
"The Whiteboard session feature could be the most helpful feature. It can help my organization through brainstorming and design sessions for technical tools, systems, and solutions. It's hard to brainstorm remotely and this tool will help to facilitate that."
"We have used this solution for remote or virtual brainstorming sessions. We're a 100% remote company and therefore having that capability is important."
"It definitely helps when prioritizing things. For a business problem, you can create many different documents and easily compare them, then you can decide which one that you want to go forward with."
"The product's initial setup phase is simple and straightforward."
"Integrations with so many other tools make this platform highly useful."
"It is a versatile tool suitable for various tasks, including process modeling."
"Miro significantly enhances brainstorming sessions."
"As a consultant managing multiple projects, I find Miro's collaboration features highly beneficial."
"Online Collaboration made it easy to brainstorm."
"Miro's flexibility is a main feature. It provides boards where I can put whatever is needed without limits."
"The solution's UI is very user-friendly, and it is not that hard to define the shapes you are looking for or to import them."

Cons

"Using my iPad, it seems clunky and isn't as responsive as my PC."
"There is an emphasis on Google as a set of cloud apps and cloud storage but I don't use Google so that doesn't really help. We're a Microsoft shop so we've got a lot of OneDrive. We have been using Box, which I don't like and which we're moving away from, but my legacy storage asset was Dropbox. Some flexibility there would be worthwhile."
"There's a little bit of latency with the collaboration bit. Overall it's not quite as fast as Google docs, however, it's really close."
"I would like to have a dark mode, but the option is not available."
"The tracing is inaccurate and we have to do the drawing ourselves."
"The user interface is not intuitive because I have used other applications previously, and it took a little bit more time. Once I figured that out how to save shapes, that was super helpful, but it did take probably one or two times to get there. Once I understood it, it made a lot of sense."
"There might be a way to do this in Lucidspark, but if there were a way to leave comments for internal collaborators, that would be good. Let's say we were brainstorming something. It would be helpful to have comments that we could see, but if we were to share a view with someone else, they wouldn't see those behind-the-scenes comments."
"The one other significant recommendation is because I do work with folks outside of my organization quite regularly. The user experience of having them all have to set up a free account to join me in a workspace is a bit cumbersome. I really would love it if there was a Visitor link that would allow contributors who don't have free logins to join and participate."
"It should have a desktop version."
"The product subscription is very expensive. The pricing could be better."
"The solution could be available on mobile."
"I don't see the need to have updates in the product every other month or every other day."
"When I imported an image to Miro, my friend saw it differently from what I saw when I changed the size of it."
"I would like to see enhancements in Miro, especially when working with tables like Excel."
"Maybe at some point, Miro should be able to use AI to provide analysis from the brainstorming sessions or files fed into it."
"The text customization inside objects needs some enhancement, especially for the text written in rectangle shapes."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's a very reasonable $8 a month. That makes it really accessible and helps it fill a pretty significant need for virtual collaboration. Just about every leadership team member that I've talked to said, 'Oh, well, that's cheap, just go buy it.'"
"There is room for improvement in terms of the cost. It should all be bundled together. It's becoming like a Microsoft, where you have to buy all the different version features separately. It should just all be bundled with one price."
"I personally had a hard time getting the licenses sorted out. In the organizational license, the whole process took a lot of time. Personally, I feel that the licensing could be done much better on that front."
"The pricing is very reasonable. It is more expensive than some of the free options out there but much cheaper than Visio, and it works much better."
"I was using the web version. I don't know what I signed up for, but I don't think I paid anything. It was just free."
"One must pay extra if he wishes to have a higher level product."
"The pricing is in line with everything else out there, and you get what you pay for."
"The licensing is a fair price. We mainly have single users. We chose not to do the team user because of the cost. We didn't see a need for that at this point. We have talked to Lucidchart and Lucidspark salesmen often about that."
"The product's price is low. Monthly and yearly subscriptions are available when it comes to the licensing part of the product."
"The initial cost of Miro was a bit high for me as a small company. However, considering its many benefits and the number of projects I have, it's reasonable and worth the investment."
"The product costs approximately $300 per user."
