Allows users to view updated information daily without having to log into the system.
Graphical and dashboard information could be improved upon, especially with the level of customization. More complex graphs need to be written in code, instead of being able to use the default functions. Our business does not have the skills to use, for example, SQL, to write graphs etc. We are therefore limited to the “default” graphs which are set to pie, bar and scatter etc.

Microsoft Power BI has many features and there is not a lot to improve. However, the licensing can be confusing. When deciding between Pro and Premium, I find it difficult to distinguish what features are offered by Pro and what features are offered by Premium, including the particular differences to choose between both licensing models. Additionally, some features such as DAX, which I mentioned previously, involve DAX calculations and complex data modeling, which are somewhat advanced and not easily understandable. Prior knowledge is required or you need to go through the documentation. If the documentation is made comprehensive so that anyone with no knowledge on DAX can easily use it by going through the documentation, it would be really helpful. Additionally, if the integration with non-Microsoft tools is improved and performance is optimized, then Microsoft Power BI can become a top-ranked visualization tool. The user experience with Microsoft Power BI is quite good. The intuitive user interface makes it easy for both technical and non-technical users to create reports. However, only the advanced features are somewhat complex, and if the documentation is improved, it can be easily accessible.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The technical support is excellent."
"Microsoft BI is a complete tool, it has all the functions needed for its purpose."
"BI is very easy to use including the desktop version."
"The visualization part and its inclusion in a cloud-based application are valuable features."
"Without this solution, the business can’t think of successful operations."
"This is a solution that I would recommend because it is easy to use and they will be able to streamline their business processes."
"The use of graphics to show and view the data indicators is the most valuable feature. It is also very stable."
"It is a powerful tool that helps our data analysis processes."
"The way data is presented is very valuable. The amount of information that we can get at a glance is also valuable. You can then drill-down and see data from many different angles in the same chart by selecting certain things. Based on the selection, everything changes automatically. If we have four parameters in a particular item, when you select a parameter, the remaining charts on that page automatically change for that particular parameter."

Cons

"Graphical and dashboard information could be improved upon, especially with the level of customization."
"Because of performance issues and because we're unable to do all the aggregation, I rate this solution six out of 10."
"I think that they can make the solution easy to use for people who are not experts in data because many clients try to use it, but they need to be prepared before using it."
"Their technical support is bad. I didn't like the technical support of Microsoft."
"We would like to have better SQL support for queries."
"Its performance and stability can be improved. It takes time to load, and sometimes, it also breaks down for the whole region. Its usability could also be better, and it could also have more connections with different data sources."
"It seems that the solution could use more analytics to help users draw more contextual business insights. Right now, you need other solutions for that."
"Lacks the ability to copy data from BI into PowerPoint."
"Dependency on data warehousing and pricing."
