Has simplified cloud deployments for retail environments but needs more advanced features and better pricing
The pricing of Meraki SD-WAN depends compared to which vendors, because it's a bit pricey, so not all retail would go for it unless it's a big retail company, but it depends on your comparison. I usually recommend multiple vendors in mind because it depends on the customer's requirements; you have Fortinet, you have Aruba, you have Huawei, and you have multiple options that may be cheaper than Cisco. Regarding Meraki SD-WAN functionality, it depends on the situation, but I would recommend this product if they have the money. It all comes down to the requirements first because I try to fit the best solution for them. It doesn't depend only if I'm carrying only Cisco, it depends on what their exact requirements are. Cisco is one of the top vendors with the most stable performance in many solutions, but it all comes down to the customer requirements. Mainly the pricing is a concern, and it doesn't fit enterprise customers. For enterprise-grade customers, it's not going to fit; it's not possible to use Meraki SD-WAN. It's not just because of the price; it's for enterprise because of the limitation in features and capabilities. Meraki SD-WAN is not fit for enterprise-grade customers or big deployments.

Has many capabilities, but is overly complex for our use cases
We couldn't see anything uniquely valuable in the SDN and that's why we didn't pursue it. While the solution offers many capabilities, it did not line up with what we were looking for in our use case. As we are a small organization and do not possess many resources, the solution we use must be simpler and smaller than Versa Cloud Services Gateway. We found it to be too complex for our use case.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is secure, and some features, like work device management, are very useful."
"The features of SD-WAN are very appealing because you have a centralized dashboard and multiple options to terminate. You have an internet leased line, which means that you can connect your broadband and 3G and 4G cellular networks on the same router. This makes it easy for us to manage everything on a single dashboard. That is, you can integrate multiple stacks in such a way that you do not have to maintain any other dashboard. You get single-pane-of-glass accessibility with Meraki."
"Having to set up a closed system singlehandedly and a lifetime guarantee on the equipment is a valuable part of this solution."
"After deploying Meraki, we have a drastic fitting on connectivity because before Cisco Meraki, we used to have a physical broadband internet connection and it is very, very expensive in Dubai."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of setting up Meraki SD-WAN."
"Meraki Solutions setups make it one of the best products I have ever worked with."
"The management system is one of the best available."
"With Meraki's centralized dashboard, we've streamlined configuration and monitoring across all sites in day 0 and day 1, reducing administrative overhead and minimizing potential human errors."
"From an economic perspective the solution is very competitive to what is offered in the market."
"It definitely offers a lot of advanced functionality."

Cons

"The security integration in Meraki SD-WAN is not as good as the competition, such as Fortinet, and customers are moving away due to this reason, as Meraki lacks in offering advanced security features, which is crucial for many enterprise clients."
"The solution can only support two up-links, so if you have three internet lines, there is not a provision to connect the third internet line."
"The solution lacks a certain amount of functionality and features."
"Perimetral security for new requirements on financial networks and DRP systems, like SAP. It should send email alerts."
"Meraki does not have a very good support system in India."
"It's a matter of cost and expenses that we may take some issue with."
"The granularity could be improved."
"The licensing is very expensive. The fact that it does not recognize our cost from the previous licenses is a big drawback."
"We found it to be too complex for our use case."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is reasonable and we can choose the software or the feature."
"Meraki's pricing is on the higher side, which may limit who can afford to use them."
"The price of this solution is good, it is not expensive."
"Our clients pay Meraki an annual licensing fee and the pricing is not too bad when compared to other products in the Cisco portfolio."
"There are no licensing costs for the product subscription."
"The licensing fees are approximately $1,000 USD annually."
"Any license you buy until January 2021 gets you an extra year for that purchase."
"The solution's pricing is in line with what we expected."
"From an economic perspective the solution is very competitive to what is offered in the market."
