A scalable and affordable tool for monitoring data centers
Five engineers are needed for the maintenance of the product. I would definitely recommend the solution to those planning to use it. To increase the rating for the product, Nagios should offer remote support and offer more customization in reporting while making it easy for the customers to use it. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Helps us detect cyber threats quickly and integrate multiple feeds effectively
Overall, the product is good, but when it comes to some infrastructure issues, we have to dig into more logs. There is no straightforward indication of an issue. Health check kind of dashboards are not available. More AI would help us, and more optimization, since security products run more queries. The AI module could suggest solutions, optimizing queries or workload balancing. If the product itself advises on running queries during peak times, it would be similar to what ChatGPT currently offers. We see quite a few issues on stability. Even last week, we faced something, and identifying bottlenecks is not easy. We need more SMEs, and there is no mechanism to tell us about indexer or search head issues. Self-monitoring dashboards could be beneficial. The technical support still requires more improvement. Often, primary support takes a lot of time and forwards most solutions to the engineering side. The primary support team has very limited knowledge to provide.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The initial setup of Nagios Log Server was easy and straightforward."
"My company is a featured partner of Nagios XI, so I'm implementing Nagios XI in different companies and supporting the product, and I'd recommend the solution because it offers a lot of benefits and has a good dashboard, it's pretty easy to get up and running, and the pricing is good."
"A great feature of the solution involves its internal portal."
"The product is scalable."
"One of the most valuable features is the dashboard because the UI was effective and easy to use. The alert systems are good as well. We had no failovers and had high availability. We can search the queries fast as well in Nagios Log Server."
"The way this solution has improved our organization is by its ability to do a quick search and immediately stop an incident from happening."
"The unique and most valuable feature in Splunk Enterprise Security is the correlation capability and the SPL query language itself."
"My customer was integrated with many third-party credentials and other threat sources as well. The integration part was seamless and easy. The rates for allocating valuable information and IOCs from different sources are also good."
"The visibility is amazing with easy dashboard creation."
"Our clients are easily able to modify and evolve their implementations."
"Overall, it's a good tool."
"We used it to create a custom anomaly detection data model to monitor the activity of our back-end services on an hourly basis relative to the past three months of activity."
"It definitely does help with both auditing and as well as regular monitoring. SOC does more monitoring, but ES also gives you other features that are auditing-related. The dashboards are also beneficial."

Cons

"As we are talking about a product which is open to the public, the pricing makes it challenging for us to profit off of its marketing."
"The customization and dashboards have shortcomings and need to be improved to make the tool look more presentable."
"The configurations during initial setup could be improved. If they could be agentless, as in the case of the Ansible product, it would be better. I would like to be able to analyze the network bandwidth."
"The support could be better. They only offer email support."
"The configurations during initial setup could be improved."
"Splunk Enterprise Security can be improved by having more focus on the data health monitoring aspect, which will definitely be helpful."
"Technical support services are lacking, especially after you buy the product."
"The price of the solution could be cheaper."
"I've ever used it, just studied it."
"Splunk Enterprise Security has not helped reduce our alert volume."
"I haven't found a way for me to create my own plugins and integrate them into Splunk, but this isn't necessarily a limitation; it could simply be a lack of knowledge on my part."
"I want Splunk Enterprise Security to release more AI and machine learning features in the future."
"Splunk Enterprise Security is a very mature platform, but there are a few areas where I think it can improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"On a scale of one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap, I rate the pricing an eight or nine."
"For a single instance, the price is around $4,000."
"We found the pricing to be quite affordable."
"Splunk Enterprise Security is priced lower than competitors."
"The pricing modules could be improved."
"Splunk is a bit pricier, but the benefits and ROI are huge."
"Splunk's costing is a little more difficult. The pricing method is complicated, and the way that costing is calculated in Splunk is a little more difficult."
"It is a pretty high cost solution, but if your organization has the funds, it can bring many benefits."
"The price of this solution is expensive. However, it has great features. If you want a great solution you need to pay a price matching the features."
"Price-wise, if you compare QRadar to Splunk for SIEM functionality then they are in the same range but when you integrate SOAR with these solutions, Splunk takes the lead and is more competitive."
"The tool's pricing model is great. You can choose between workloads or volume."
