Effectively monitors the uptime of all equipment and network connectivity
There is room for improvement on the setup side. It's not very user-friendly, especially for those who aren't tech-savvy. I find it a bit hard to set up initially. It could be done better to make it easier to configure. It would be beneficial for users. For additional features, I have an idea. I'm not sure if it's already there, but it would be great to have a feature that maps the network and shows which devices are connected. It could provide information about how traffic flows and offer a visual representation of how devices are physically connected to each other. It would be like a network audit feature that displays the connections between switches and other devices. So, in future releases, a network mapping and visualization feature would be valuable.

AI‑driven threat detection has transformed alert fatigue and now enables faster response and leaner soc operations
The best features of Vectra AI are related to AI. For the NDR part, Attack Signal Intelligence features were mainly responsible for behavior AI, high-fidelity signaling, and prioritization. These features were great for anomaly detection and behavioral-based detection, able to catch zero-day attacks and living-off-the-land attacks. For high-fidelity signaling, it automatically triaged, filtered, and correlated signals, which dramatically reduced alert fatigue noise on the customer side by approximately 80% and eliminated alert fatigue on the SOC teams. Regarding the identity detection and response IDR solution, it monitored Active Directory and Entra ID for any attacks, allowing the SOC to detect any compromised credentials. Alert noise was dramatically reduced by nearly 80%, allowing SOC analysts to focus more on true threats, which made them more productive and resulted in higher operational efficiency. Attack Signal Intelligence helped reduce irrelevant alerts by 80% to 90%, with metrics showing a 100-plus reduction in investigation workloads and roughly saving about 55,000 hours of investigation time. Investigation time has decreased significantly, empowering analysts with detection and advanced unknown threats that Vectra AI provided. Its knowledge base and database are very up to date, allowing for spotting zero-day attacks with full visibility and helping to stop attacks in minutes. Vectra AI has reduced the MTTD and MTTR, increasing operational and process efficiency, and has helped reduce the number of SOC analysts that needed to be hired. Thanks to the AI features, the number of employees and SOC analysts hired has been reduced.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This is a product that I can recommend."
"Since we have been using it for the last five years we have done very well with reference to ROI."
"The solution is useful for monitoring network devices."
"Its initial setup process is straightforward."
"I have found that it has a good GUI and user-friendly administration."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The tool's UI is user-friendly, and pricing is affordable. It is very easy to deploy and learn."
"The solution offers very good system monitoring; it's easy to manage your network, as well as your hardware and software, and it's really useful."
"It does a reliable job of parsing out the logs of all the network traffic so that we can ingest them into our SIEM and utilize them for threat hunting and case investigations. It is pretty robust and reliable. The administration time that we spend maintaining it or troubleshooting it is very low. So, the labor hour overhead is probably our largest benefit from it. We spend 99% of our time in Vectra investigating cases, responding to incidents, or hunting, and only around 1% of our time is spent patching, troubleshooting, or doing anything else. That's our largest benefit from Vectra."
"The fact that we get the visualization of what's happening on our network, which is a way of improving our security in-depth is most valuable."
"Some valuable features of Vectra AI are that it is very intuitive and that there are only a small amount of false positives. Therefore, it's an effective solution."
"The solution provide visibility into behaviors across the full lifecycle of an attack in our network, beyond just the Internet gateway. It makes our security operations much more effective because we are now looking not just at traffic on the border, but we're looking at east-west internal traffic. Now, not only will we see if an exploit kit is being downloaded, but we would be able to see then if that exploit kit was then laterally distributed into our environment."
"Vectra was the only tool that picked up almost all the red team penetration activities, helped us detect threats in their initial recon phase before they caused damage, and has significantly reduced the time it takes us to respond to attacks."
"The packet-capturing feature is very useful."
"Vectra AI has positively impacted my organization; last year while using it, we received many malicious email threats and virus incidents, including a trojan virus that had reportedly been deployed by someone, and our company used Vectra AI to detect the malicious threats and viruses before they could cause more damage, and we successfully stopped the threats."
"The biggest feature for us, because we are heavy Microsoft users, is its integration with Office 365. On top of Vectra AI, we use all of the Microsoft security platforms, such as Defender ATP and Sentinel. Having full integration and a central platform to look at all of the threats that are coming through from the different platforms is a huge benefit for us."

Cons

"Nagios Network Analyzer should integrate an application monitoring solution to monitor application bandwidth usage."
"The bandwidth for its front-end version needs enhancement."
"It's very hard to install materials. You need a lot of documentation. They should make it easier to install and configure the solution."
"I think the reports can be improved. They're adopted."
"There is room for improvement on the setup side."
"The graphics and reports can be a little bit better."
"They need to have some automation models embedded in them."
"There are some loopholes you need to be aware of from a security perspective."
"We had another product with Vectra AI and used the MDR solution as an add-on. Initially, it wasn't fully appropriately configured, so we didn't get the expected results. Even once configured correctly, we weren't fully satisfied with its response. The issue was both with their service response and the product's capabilities."
"We would like to see more information with the syslogs. The syslogs that they send to our SIEM are a bit short compared to what you can see. It would be helpful if they send us more data that we can incorporate into our SIEM, then can correlate with other events."
"If you hit a certain number of rules, triage filters, or groups, the UX responds more slowly."
"I'd like to be able to get granular reports and to be able to output them into formats that are customizable and more useful. The reporting GUI is lacking."
"What is most important for us is to have one place where we can manage a few brains because we are based on a zero-trust network. As a result, each customer needs to have a separate brain. For the SOC team, we need to have one place where the SOC analyst can go to visit the website and from that site manage all of the customers. Right now, Vectra AI doesn't have this capability, and I would really like to have this feature."
"Cost-wise, they're not cheap. They were definitely the most expensive option, but you get what you pay for."
"Multiple appliances are required for Vectra AI, making it less convenient compared to competitors."
"The false positives and the tuning side of it are some things that could use improvement but that could be from our side."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is cost-efficient."
"I rate Nagios Network Analyzer's pricing a six out of ten."
"They charge around ten thousand per month for one thousand nodes. That is their overall cost, but it differs on which company you are applying to, whether you are a service provider or an enterprise."
"There are additional features that can be purchased in addition to the standard licensing fee, such as Cognito Recall and Stream."
"Cost is a big factor, as always. However, I think we have a very good price–performance ratio."
"The pricing and licensing are quite straightforward because they're based on the IP licenses. As a result, they are easy to count."
"We are running at about 90,000 pounds per year. The solution is a licensed cost. The hardware that they gave us was pretty much next to nothing. It is the license that we're paying for."
"Vectra's pricing is too high. All schools will not be able to afford it. Vectra will only end up targeting higher education and higher value independence purely because of the price. A lot of schools would love to have a product like Vectra AI, but they simply can't because they struggle to even pay the high E5 licensing from Microsoft. When you're up against that, Vectra AI is never going to be within the sector's price range."
"The pricing is high."
"My company pays for the Vectra AI licensing fee yearly. I know the figure because my company recently renewed the license, and it's okay, at least for the financial sector."
"The pricing is very good. It's less expensive than many of the tools out there."
