Communication improvements enhance platform reliability while seamless recovery process supports application safety
I don't currently have knowledge of the best features of Nutanix Disaster Recovery. I don't have specific features in mind that are missing in Nutanix Disaster Recovery that I would like to see included in the future. I don't find Nutanix's pricing reasonable; my higher authority manages pricing discussions. I'm not aware of the pricing as it's usually handled by delivery managers and the architect team. I don't know of any disadvantages of Nutanix outside of the technical support issues previously mentioned, as I'm still comparing it with ongoing learning. I didn't face any challenges while starting to learn Nutanix Disaster Recovery; it has been straightforward. I would recommend Nutanix Disaster Recovery as there are no issues, and I ensure to explain everything regarding application safety and functionality to the application owners. On a scale of one to ten, I rate Nutanix Disaster Recovery an eight out of ten.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Nutanix Disaster Recovery can be used for snapshots, backup, and disaster recovery."
"The most valuable feature of Nutanix Disaster Recovery is the reliability and scalability of being able to swing our workloads across the country."
"The initial setup of Nutanix Disaster Recovery is straightforward and easy."
"The most valuable feature of Nutanix Disaster Recovery is the local storage solution, which significantly boosts performance, especially when transitioning from traditional architecture."
"Nutanix Disaster Recovery needs to have a feature that can automate manual tasks."
"The product is very simple and very easy to use."
"The solution helps to improve business continuity processes. Its automatic failover and failback policies have been wonderful."
"VMware's tech support gets a nine-out-of-ten. They are responsive and get you a useful reply."
"Our systems fail over using SRM. So, we do a big bang DR, which is biannual, and we fail over our fairly massive Epic electronic health record (EHR) and our core applications. It takes us about 30 minutes to fail over using SRM, which is pretty good. In most hospitals that have Epic installed, Epic does the audit to make sure that we can fail over if something were to happen. Normally, sites will have a DR solution specific to the EHR, but right now, our pain point is the third-party tier-one clinical applications."
"The solution is strong when it comes to protection and analytics, with the latter being added later on."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is that you can independently run the disaster recovery without disturbing the production instances."
"The solution is simple to use and has effective automation."
"It is a very stable solution...I was involved in VMware SRM's deployment phase two years ago, and it was an easy process."
"The UI is very user-friendly and testing is easy."

Cons

"The major issue with Nutanix is its appliance-based model, which can lead to vendor lock-in."
"The dashboard could be a bit refreshed, and some configuration parts could be less confusing."
"The product must allow users to create a production domain on the main site in one hypervisor and a backup site on another."
"Nutanix Disaster Recovery needs to have a feature that can automate manual tasks."
"The solution's bandwidth utilization can be improved further."
"The solution should include a standard license for the object level and file level."
"The two vCenters have to be synchronized, which sometimes gives us problems because Keberos does not tolerate more than five minutes in time difference."
"The product's stability could be better."
"The biggest issue for us is that this product does not have any demo for customers."
"It would be better if we could get more reporting features in VMware SRM."
"What I think can be improved is the data replication aspect."
"There needs to be better stability during heavy capacity in future releases."
"The user experience could be more friendly."
"You need a lot of knowledge to work with the interface because it is not really easy to use, and it would be great if the dashboard were simplified."
