Centralized identity governance has automated lifecycle management and simplifies compliance
One Identity Manager could be improved by making the initial setup and configuration simpler, especially for complex workflows and integrations. The user interface and reporting dashboards could also be more modern and intuitive with better out-of-the-box analytics. Additionally, clearer documentation and faster implementation guidance would help organizations get value more quickly. One specific challenge my team encountered was the complexity during initial configuration, especially when setting up custom workflows and role models which required more time and expertise. We also felt that out-of-the-box reports and dashboards are limited, and more customizable real-time analytics would be helpful. Better documentation and guided setup wizards would make adoption easier, particularly for teams new to identity governance tools. One improvement I think One Identity Manager needs is the enhanced self-service experience. The end-user self-service portal could be more intuitive with clearer guidance for access requests and password resets. Additionally, while integrations are solid, deeper cloud-native connectors and API-driven automation would help in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. A more responsive mobile interface or dedicated app for approvals and tasks would help managers who are often on the go. One more improvement is the built-in predictive insights or trend dashboards around access patterns and risk could improve proactive governance. More descriptive error messages and in-tool troubleshooting tips during setup configuration would reduce dependency on external documentation or support.

Streamline identity lifecycle management with intuitive interfaces and robust policy features
The functions of RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle, especially the IGA, are quite strong with their custom forms and workflows integrated. The user interface is very friendly and easy to use, making it a good product overall. However, it still has to be on-premise and the cloud version is not easily accessible, as dedicated instances are required and machines cannot be shared as multi-tenant for various customers. The advanced policy features of RSA definitely help in defining certain policies such as segregation of duties. That's particularly useful along with creating different access reviews. Regarding access control in simplifying access management, RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle has strong foundations of groups and roles, which help in defining all policies very easily. This makes it very easy to integrate with other access management tools or privileged access management tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One Identity Manager is very responsive, and that is the first thing I like most."
"What I like the most is the flexibility or configurability."
"The product was initially brought in to replace an unsupported solution, and later on it became a partner self-service portal, reducing service desk calls to create accounts for business partners."
"One Identity Manager is a very robust tool with plenty of out-of-the-box features in the identity and access management space, and it is very easy to customize and fits for very complex platforms."
"This solution is better on the IT personnel, because now they spend less (or almost no time) managing user rights."
"This solution helped us to increase employee productivity when it comes to provisioning users or systems, and in some cases, it has gone down from days to hours or minutes."
"Overall, One Identity Manager has been a solid platform for improving identity governance and automation, especially in large environments where centralized access management and compliance visibility are important."
"The best feature is that it's customizable. For example, we can create any kind of product or custom service within an IT shop and customize it the way our customers need it. For the customers, it's the best. They are happy with it."
"Soft and hard tokens for two factor authentication has been introduced."
"The user interface is very friendly and easy to use, making it a good product overall."
"Roles, connectors for provisioning and re-accreditation or reviews help greatly to govern user access."
"Customer service was always exceptional and if we needed to call the regular customer support number for administrative tasks on the account, they were always helpful and resolved our cases within a few days."
"Roles, connectors for provisioning and re-accreditation or reviews help greatly to govern user access."
"Never - one thing I can say about RSA is that the boxes are stable and solid."
"The data collection is excellent and easy to do. It does not require a lot of configuration nor does it require rules to be written like other competitors do."
"The most valuable feature is the security, in particular, the One Time Password support."

Cons

"The support for DevOps could be improved with quick delivery cycles and multiple delivery streams."
"It is a very powerful solution, but when it comes to doing some complex parameterization or authorization, we end up coding. Comparatively, CA solutions require less coding. It is more powerful than the CA solutions, but you end up with coding in VB.Net or C#. Complex parameterization could be better from their side."
"One of the things we would like is the ability to have more than one system role manager."
"A major area for improvement is Web Designer. If One Identity Manager advances this, it will greatly benefit all customers."
"It is slow. It has a bit of a bad reputation within the company because it is a slow product. That is the biggest drawback in terms of user experience."
"It would be nice to have more functionality in terms of connecting SAP systems, provisioning user accounts through SAP systems, and provisioning additional attributes."
"The policy and role management features are a bit hard to scale. The whole model for who can do what and how to set it up is not so well-governed for a larger organization. The demos are always shown for a 100 or a 1000 people, but when it is a large number, it is quite difficult to maintain."
"The initial set up was quite complex. It takes quite some time to get use to this product because of its complexity."
"Technical support in Pakistan can be improved."
"We were excited that the self-provision feature was now built into the box but disappointed at the implementation."
"There are scalability issues. This product does not scale very well. It is not a good product for load balancing / active–active architecture."
"Application and appliance stability needs improvement."
"This product is missing a lot of features which other competitors are providing. One of the key features that are missing right now is risk scoring. Additionally, there is not much scope for customization - everything is hard-coded and predefined, so it does not allow the developers to make many modifications."
"The user interface and workflow need improvement, and more connectors would help."
"There are scalability issues. This product does not scale very well. It is not a good product for load balancing / active–active architecture."
"It could be a little more flexible with the installation of the product."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Start with an operations team that is motivated to learn a lot in a short period of time. The longer you wait, the more expensive it will be to get the right level of expertise in this area."
"There are old processes that are really great for some people and look like pieces of artwork. However, the maintenance of them is really expensive."
"Pricing depends on licensing models, such as per-user licensing and feature-based pricing. Additional models like governance, provisioning, and reporting increase costs."
"One Identity Manager is fairly priced."
"You get a lot of bang for your buck with One Identity. It has many features that are included in the standard IGA license. Most people who are considering buying One Identity don't understand how much power is behind it in engines."
"We have the premium support and are very satisfied. They are always answer our questions very quickly. For the moment, we are very satisfied, but I think it's because we are paying for the premium support."
"One Identity Manager is fairly priced."
"Its price is okay."
"Pricing varies based on user count/number of modules you need."
"I rate the product's price a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"We are using the cloud platform, but we don't find it compatible to be served as a multi-tenant platform. This is a large drawback. It becomes expensive because it is then an all-dedicated solution. You have to have a separate tenant for each client, which increases the cost. The overall unit pricing can be less expensive than how it is right now."
