Running secure internal banking applications has been reliable and supports fast deployments
I am still working with Oracle products. I am still using Enterprise Manager 14c. I am using Oracle Database, Oracle ExaCC, Oracle EBS, Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Oracle Linux. I can answer questions about my experience with WebLogic Suite. I use it in my company. I have not used WebLogic's diagnostic tools. I do not utilize its lifecycle management features. I do not have much experience with WebLogic Java EE support, as I just deploy the application and the other team utilizes this server. I am not directly involved in WebLogic. I have been using Oracle Linux myself. The deployment is local, on-premises. I have been working with Enterprise Manager as well. All the components of Oracle I am using are on-premises. I use Oracle 19c database, Oracle ExaCC, Exadata on Cloud at Customer. I have been using Oracle Linux, Enterprise Manager, and databases as well. I have been working with Oracle Database for about 20 years. My experience has been 100% positive with Oracle Database. I have utilized its Real Application Clusters along with Data Guard. I do not use Oracle's Advanced Analytics and machine learning features right now. I have given this review an overall rating of 9 out of 10.

Able to process all the reporting and processing in the database itself
We have been upgrading and moving to new environments. I was involved in the solution's initial setup. Some things in the setup are very smooth sailing. However, some setups become complicated because what they set up doesn't meet your needs. So, some tweaking is necessary in certain instances. Having a good understanding of the tool really helps. Oracle Java DB is easy to deploy if it's a new setup. Migrating from an old environment to a new environment takes time because you need the old functionality. A first-time deployment of the application is easy. We just did a default setup and started using it. When we have to migrate, there is too much baggage behind that application, especially from the security point of view.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"A really large and very useful language to process data."
"Most of our customers have been using multitenant options. Advanced Compression and Advanced Security are the most valuable features in most customer environments."
"Oracle Database is very flexible."
"It's very stable and highly available. I also like the row-level locking feature. It can manage billions of rows of data."
"The stability is fabulous, I have one customer that has scaled this out and the application's now reaching over 100,000 users and we have not had any problems with it."
"Oracle Database has made my organization's data highly available."
"I think this is a good solution because it's easy to administer and manage but it requires the right skilled people."
"The solution has great security."
"The solution's capability to handle large data sets, large volumes and indexing are the most valuable features."
"Using this product will lead to a reduction in operational costs."
"This is a fairly stable language, and it's been in the market for several years."
"There have been no issues in relation to stability. We've never really had do to any recoveries. It is very stable."
"The valuable features include connecting to the database and retrieving data."
"Able to write queries more efficiently and the management of data has become better and easier."
"The additional value of having Java inside the Oracle database is all the security that is applied to an Oracle database will be enforced on Java's stored procedures as well."
"It has a programming language so anything that we require for Selenium is all available there."

Cons

"It’s a software product, so there are some bugs."
"They should reduce its price and provide faster support."
"I think that technically, it's nearly a flawless product. But, when it comes to pricing, it's very expensive."
"If it could be more affordable, it would be a plus. Because the product is very expensive."
"The solution is very, very expensive. This keeps it as a niche product."
"The local support is fine, but the global support is terrible, and not worth the cost."
"CRM could be improved. What I mean by that is the CRM is composed of NetSuite and the Oracle database to perform the functions of a CRM. Both of these need to be improved."
"Oracle Database's migration capabilities could be improved because it's very difficult. So even if you migrate where you host your data, be it on Windows SQL Server, there is a problem because migrating the package is highly complex. The technical support could also be faster."
"The tool might be integrated, but we see performance issues because of overhead."
"Oracle can improve by providing more connection string variations and relay servers on the path to the database."
"With respect to the product's consistency, there's a lot of scope that could be introduced in regulator basis."
"The solution should continue to keep updating and improving the Java language."
"Needs improvement in consistency issues with respect to timeframes."
"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"The biggest lesson that I have learned from using Oracle products is vendor lock-in."
"It'll be better if Oracle Java supports open source technologies, like Node.js."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The platform is highly-priced."
"The price of Oracle Database is quite high compared to other solutions. It has a lot of options, such as security for partitioning and real application clusters. These options are not for free. Once you want to use it, you have to pay extra."
"There are no licensing costs because the solution for me is open source."
"It is very expensive. We pay in dollars, so the inflation and conversion cost is also there for us. They charge on a yearly basis for the license."
"Its price is already low. Oracle has a competitive and cheaper price as compared to others. Oracle Cloud is cheaper than other clouds. The pricing is very competitive for Oracle Cloud to be in the market. Their pricing makes customers interested in using this product even though Oracle doesn't have a local data center at this moment."
"It is an excellent product, as long as the organization can afford the price tag."
"Be prepared to pay for consulting services, and do not underestimate the time required to find and hire good quality database administrators."
"I am using the trial version."
"Oracle Java DB is a pricey solution."
"The product's pricing is very friendly, with no extra costs after the licensing fees."
