Running secure internal banking applications has been reliable and supports fast deployments
I am still working with Oracle products. I am still using Enterprise Manager 14c. I am using Oracle Database, Oracle ExaCC, Oracle EBS, Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Oracle Linux. I can answer questions about my experience with WebLogic Suite. I use it in my company. I have not used WebLogic's diagnostic tools. I do not utilize its lifecycle management features. I do not have much experience with WebLogic Java EE support, as I just deploy the application and the other team utilizes this server. I am not directly involved in WebLogic. I have been using Oracle Linux myself. The deployment is local, on-premises. I have been working with Enterprise Manager as well. All the components of Oracle I am using are on-premises. I use Oracle 19c database, Oracle ExaCC, Exadata on Cloud at Customer. I have been using Oracle Linux, Enterprise Manager, and databases as well. I have been working with Oracle Database for about 20 years. My experience has been 100% positive with Oracle Database. I have utilized its Real Application Clusters along with Data Guard. I do not use Oracle's Advanced Analytics and machine learning features right now. I have given this review an overall rating of 9 out of 10.

Able to process all the reporting and processing in the database itself
We have been upgrading and moving to new environments. I was involved in the solution's initial setup. Some things in the setup are very smooth sailing. However, some setups become complicated because what they set up doesn't meet your needs. So, some tweaking is necessary in certain instances. Having a good understanding of the tool really helps. Oracle Java DB is easy to deploy if it's a new setup. Migrating from an old environment to a new environment takes time because you need the old functionality. A first-time deployment of the application is easy. We just did a default setup and started using it. When we have to migrate, there is too much baggage behind that application, especially from the security point of view.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Oracle is a good database with decent performance, which is fortunate because we are required to use this database for our ERP system. Even if we thought Oracle was the worst database in the world, we would still have to use it."
"It is a mature product. It is pretty stable. I've got a lot of experience with it, so it is pretty easy to use."
"The most valuable feature is the high concurrency in terms of transactions."
"Offers a lot of backup security and is very powerful."
"I have experienced good performance from the solution."
"Because we are servicing the end clients, I need to meet the SLA; the performance is the key prize for us, and when a customer comes in and logs into the website, that needs to happen within a few seconds for the SLA, which has improved performance and, ultimately, gained the customer’s satisfaction."
"The concurrency, consistency, and security features are the most valuable. It is also a very robust solution."
"We currently have 18 people in our organization using this product and I find it to be a stable product."
"It's very clever."
"The most valuable feature is automation."
"The valuable features include connecting to the database and retrieving data."

"Our Oracle database is very expensive, so probably the cost is an area that can be improved."
"The product is pricey and expensive."
"The initial setup could be easier."
"It could be cheaper and easier to manage. Support could also be better. Performance could be better. Sometimes testing impacts the prediction performance. We have a complex server that serves both prediction and testing. Sometimes testing applies to many other deployments that impact the service provided. It's a problem for our company."
"Digital support of the product could be improved."
"With respect to the product's consistency, there's a lot of scope that could be introduced in regulator basis."
"It'll be better if Oracle Java supports open source technologies, like Node.js."
"Oracle can improve by providing more connection string variations and relay servers on the path to the database."
"In terms of improvement, I'd like an automation tool that is lower priced. The core prices are very high."
"The biggest lesson that I have learned from using Oracle products is vendor lock-in."
"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"Oracle can improve by providing more connection string variations and relay servers on the path to the database."
"The solution should continue to keep updating and improving the Java language."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It has an annual subscription. It is an Oracle solution, so it is a bit expensive, but that's fine."
"For us as a bank, the price is not too high, but for a small business, it would be an expensive solution."
"We have bought a license, and it was a one-time cost."
"There is a license required to use Oracle Database."
"The price of Oracle Database is too expensive."
"You buy it when you need it, and then you pay the maintenance. We bought the licenses over 10 years ago. We haven't changed our licenses. We are not buying new licenses, and we are not looking at other devices. So, it is difficult to say whether it is cheap or expensive. There is nothing to compare to."
"There are licensing costs."
"The license is inexpensive."
"Oracle Java DB is a pricey solution."
"The product's pricing is very friendly, with no extra costs after the licensing fees."
