Sentiment score
5.6
Customer service is 24/7 but varies in quality; technical support lacks experts, causing slow escalation and limited advanced assistance.
In some cases, they support me on a 24/7 basis, round the clock.
Senior Vice President IT Operations at ZTBL
Oracle support can improve both response time and quality, including not only response time but also the turnaround time for issue fixing, understanding the issue, routing it to the correct team, and debugging for resolution.
DB A Competency Manager at a computer software company with 201-500 employees
Oracle's technical support is not very effective.
Chief Executive Officer at LeaseWeb
It seems very difficult to get proper advanced assistance on advanced or complicated problems.
Tech Director at a computer software company with 1,001-5,000 employees
The quality of support from SAP is very good; if it's a known problem, they will have a knowledge base, so we will get immediate assistance.
Tech Lead, Database Section. at a financial services firm with 1,001-5,000 employees

Scalability Issues

Sentiment score
7.4
Oracle Database is highly scalable, adaptable for growth, though its licensing model may impact scalability costs.

RAC is the feature where I can distribute the load among multiple nodes, and it has helped our enterprise applications.
Senior Vice President IT Operations at ZTBL
We can span the read and write load into multiple nodes, and that scalability is there.
Tech Lead, Database Section. at a financial services firm with 1,001-5,000 employees
If we wanted to add more servers into this entire setup, that would be fairly easy, so it's rather good when it comes to scalability.
Tech Director at a computer software company with 1,001-5,000 employees

8.0
Oracle Database is stable, reliable, handles vast data with minimal downtime, and is trusted for critical applications requiring data integrity.

Chief Executive Officer at LeaseWeb
It is a stable product.
Senior Vice President IT Operations at ZTBL
It's usually something external, such as lack of disk space or problems arising from the integration to other systems.
Tech Director at a computer software company with 1,001-5,000 employees

Room For Improvement

Oracle Database needs improved tools, cost-effective licensing, better support, easier setup, and enhanced integration with modern technologies.
SAP IQ faces challenges with high costs, inadequate training, stability issues, and integration limitations, impacting performance and adoption.
If there is a performance issue, Oracle should provide a way for us to identify the bottleneck.
DB A Competency Manager at a computer software company with 201-500 employees
Oracle Database needs improvement in data analytics capabilities, AI involvement, machine learning, and deep learning.
Chief Executive Officer at LeaseWeb
It would be more feasible if Oracle allowed licensing on a socket-based model instead of cores.
Senior Vice President IT Operations at ZTBL
If the CPU utilization is very high, there is no direct way we can find out which query is taking the most CPU.
Tech Lead, Database Section. at a financial services firm with 1,001-5,000 employees
When there is an issue, the error messaging we get is not always sufficient to do a fast and solid fix.
Tech Director at a computer software company with 1,001-5,000 employees

Setup Cost

Oracle Database is robust but expensive, with high licensing costs, prompting small businesses to seek cheaper alternatives.
SAP IQ is cost-effective with various licensing models, though price understanding and negotiation are essential for optimal implementation.
For medium businesses, Oracle and IBM DB2 pricing are quite similar.
Chief Executive Officer at LeaseWeb
Oracle Database is costly.
Senior Vice President IT Operations at ZTBL

Running secure internal banking applications has been reliable and supports fast deployments
I am still working with Oracle products. I am still using Enterprise Manager 14c. I am using Oracle Database, Oracle ExaCC, Oracle EBS, Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Oracle Linux. I can answer questions about my experience with WebLogic Suite. I use it in my company. I have not used WebLogic's diagnostic tools. I do not utilize its lifecycle management features. I do not have much experience with WebLogic Java EE support, as I just deploy the application and the other team utilizes this server. I am not directly involved in WebLogic. I have been using Oracle Linux myself. The deployment is local, on-premises. I have been working with Enterprise Manager as well. All the components of Oracle I am using are on-premises. I use Oracle 19c database, Oracle ExaCC, Exadata on Cloud at Customer. I have been using Oracle Linux, Enterprise Manager, and databases as well. I have been working with Oracle Database for about 20 years. My experience has been 100% positive with Oracle Database. I have utilized its Real Application Clusters along with Data Guard. I do not use Oracle's Advanced Analytics and machine learning features right now. I have given this review an overall rating of 9 out of 10.

Works well with existing platform integration but could improve error messaging and technical support
I do not use SAP IQ's machine learning capabilities. I cannot assess the benefit of SAP IQ's distributed query processing for complex queries, as I am a non-technical operator. I am not sure if we use SAP IQ's data compression features. I think the compression we are doing is on the data storage level and not on the database level. I believe we do not use it, but I'm not certain. We do not utilize SAP IQ's support for unstructured data, as we do not have unstructured data. I do not have any strong opinions on SAP IQ's security features such as data encryption. It's not been something that has been much in focus, neither in our choice of the platform, nor in our daily operations. I guess they're satisfactory as they have not been a problem. I am not aware of the pricing and licensing of SAP IQ, as it's part of a bigger agreement, and I'm not the owner of that agreement. My impression is that SAP IQ is a rather expensive tool in terms of value for money. On a scale of 1-10, I rate SAP IQ a 7.
