A solution that can be used to translate processes into forecasts and budgets
The reporting could be improved. It is challenging to do reporting on Oracle Hyperion if you're not an expert, and you may have to use an add-on to simplify it. For example, our company uses financial reports, and it's challenging for people that don't have all the technical skills. This solution requires a lot of specialized people because it's not very easy to navigate. More specifically, you may need a specialist or expert in formulas and dealing with the interface. In addition, it requires multiple sheets and many templates. Additionally, it is not very secure and does not have all the required security.

A stable cloud-based solution that allows optimization in addition to process discovery and analysis
When the process models are transferred back to the design environment for further optimization and simulations, we need to see some improvements in the way the models get created in the design. It is very limited because of the transactional data. It seamlessly creates the BPML as well, but it would be easier if the other model, the EPC, were also created simultaneously.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Functionality-wise, it is what they say it is. It is the best in class, but it all ties back to your users. If your users are completely enamored with Excel spreadsheets, then breaking those habits is hard."
"It's very easy to use and the functionality is quite complete."
"The implementation has been simplified now that it's deployed in the cloud. Also, Hyperion is tightly integrated with Oracle products because Oracle owns it now."
"We have found there is excellent stability with Oracle Hyperion."
"The feature that allows automation of the budgeting and forecasting process is extremely valuable, especially when compared to Excel."
"Smart View is a really useful tool because we can have a good API with HFM."
"This product is very scalable and provides high ROI."
"It is easy to use. It is very intuitive. Even though there is a lot of functionality that comes out of the box, you can customize the solutions to meet your needs. You have the ability to have business rules that produce all kinds of calculations. We're international, and we do all our FX conversions through that."
"It is very easy to work on the way the ETL happens in ARIS Process Mining."
"The interface is simplified and easy to use."
"It is a stable solution...I rate the technical support a ten out of ten...On a scale of one to ten, where one is difficult, and ten is easy, I rate the setup a nine."
"One feature I found really cool was the Conformance Engine."
"I have found Software AG ARIS Process Mining scalable."

Cons

"Integrating Oracle Hyperion, a multidimensional database, with relational databases poses challenges due to the differing database structures."
"Configuration is a little complex, it's not very easy. The solution is integrated with Essbase and there are not many users of the Essbase database. If they can provide different modules for each subject area, like supply chain, for inventory forecasting or for order management forecasting, it would make each subject area easier to manage."
"It is challenging to do reporting on Oracle Hyperion if you're not an expert."
"Oracle Hyperion's scalability could be improved."
"The analytical side of the product could be better and needs to be improved."
"The user interface is in need of improvement. The forms should be more user-friendly."
"Pricing is a significant concern. After moving to PBCS and EPBCS, the per-user license fees can be reduced, particularly for bulk users."
"There's something known as a data block that Hyperion generates for each and every transaction. Sometimes it does not generate and we need to identify those issues and fix them manually."
"When the process models are transferred back to the design environment for further optimization and simulations, we need to see some improvements in the way the models get created in the design."
"I guess we have many unnecessary steps within our processes. There is room for automation and room for enhancement within our application portfolio management...In short, I would like to eliminate unnecessary steps in some processes in this solution."
"There should be a single site for modeling and mining."
"The installation is straightforward, we didn't have any technical issues with installing. However, we needed support to complete the implementation."
"Customizing KPIs and building dashboards were not as intuitive as other similar tools."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"To get a full license, which gives you access to most of the different Hyperion programs, it costs $2000 to $2500 a month."
"Compared with MSBA, it is quite reasonable."
"The licenses cost approximately $1,000."
"We pay for licensing yearly."
"The licensing cost for the on-premises version of the solution is too high."
"As Oracle's pricing is on the higher end, most businesses prefer to have their own private cloud."
"Oracle Hyperion's licensing structures are quite expensive for some companies, especially medium-sized companies because of the user-based license."
"It might be considered relatively costly compared to some alternatives."
"It's highly-priced, so it's not exactly a cheap product...We are getting what we are paying for, so on a scale of one to ten, or one is low, and ten is a high price, I rate the pricing a nine out of ten."
"Looking at the value it gives, ARIS Process Mining's pricing is fair."
"The pricing is based on licenses."
"We pay for a license to use this solution."
