Offers integration with many technologies for your applications but the suite should be simplified
We use Oracle SOA for teaching processes only. We have about forty users on the platform at a time I like the amount of technology that is involved in the Oracle SOA Suite. You can use a lot of technologies. The Oracle SOA Suite could be simplified. Currently, it is pretty difficult. We have…

Has enabled complex data flow management but faces limitations with modern integration needs
There are areas of Oracle SOA Suite I would like to see improved or enhanced in the future, particularly regarding its adapter capabilities. The popularity of Oracle Integration Cloud nowadays arises from its larger set of adapter capabilities, including numerous application adapters. In contrast, Oracle SOA Suite provides a limited number of adapters. I would like to see more REST-based features added to Oracle SOA Suite, currently lacking, along with an enhancement of file size or payload capability, as the existing limitation is a 10 MB payload size. Additionally, Oracle SOA Suite licensing cost tends to be higher, adhering to a fixed pricing model rather than a pay-per-use basis, which might not be suitable for smaller organizations.

Pros

"I like the amount of technology that is involved in the Oracle SOA Suite; you can use a lot of technologies."
"It automated the way we did system integrations. Now, information is available on different systems to the correct people."
"There are adapters which make it easier to build integrations between different technologies."
"The reusability of services is a game changer because one of our clients is saving big money by eliminating extraneous legacy systems."
"We primarily use SOA Suite for our B2B and EDI, and it provides us with an out-of-box EDI solution that allows us to work and trade with all our partners and other companies across the world."
"The SOA Suite is a very reliable solution."
"In Oracle SOA Suite some applications are not able to use REST, but it can support both SOAP and REST. You're able to integrate quite a lot of systems, which may not be able to in other solutions. You can also use XML and JSON. It is a standardizing type of tool. It doesn't matter whether I'm using JSON or XML, it can convert them."
"Another organizational benefit is that less human intervention is required when running the suite of products in SOA."
"If you want to invest in this product, I recommend to go ahead and do it."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the option to design, and the development can happen at the same time."
"Once it's in production, for the organization, I think the most valuable feature is its ability to track and trace every single message all the way from the beginning to the end."

Cons

"As PaaS solution in the cloud, it should be easy to maintain this solution."
"The system is very unstable, and any modifications to the server or in the application can make the whole system stop."
"The Oracle SOA Suite could be simplified. Currently, it is pretty difficult."
"The initial setup is complex. Many solutions out-of-the-box did not work as expected. The documentation provided Is particularly poor."
"In version 12c, it's unusable. It doesn't do what it's suppose to do (collect and show KPIs)."
"It should provide better log management and an easier tool for configuration."
"It's like one of their greatest assets can also be one of their greatest detriments which is it comes so feature-rich in such a big product that it sometimes can be an expensive product."
"It needs improvement in terms of Windows support."
"While the product is technically good, my biggest complaint is that there's a lack of the ability to find good support in the IT community for it."
"An area for improvement in Oracle SOA Suite is the cost. It could be lower."
"Customers experience issues standing up environments. Unless an experienced administrator is involved, having an environment that is clustered and load balanced requires quite a bit of time."
"Managing (infrastructure) database growth and performance tuning can be a challenge."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is an interesting solution, but only if you get a good price for it. Usually there are better options in the market with better prices."
"Oracle pricing is expensive. Support is based on your license. AWS is much better than Oracle in this regard."
"The product is moderately priced."
"Based on my knowledge, Oracle SOA Suite doesn't have user-based licensing. It has a system-based licensing model, so you pay for whole systems. Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution, so it's a four out of ten for me."
"It is necessary to evaluate the requirement regarding the platform usage and what the main operation area of the platform will be."
"The pricing is not very high as compared to its competitors."
"Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution."
"This product is WebLogic based, hence it can be both resource hungry as well as expensive from a licensing point of view."
