Has enabled complex data flow management but faces limitations with modern integration needs
There are areas of Oracle SOA Suite I would like to see improved or enhanced in the future, particularly regarding its adapter capabilities. The popularity of Oracle Integration Cloud nowadays arises from its larger set of adapter capabilities, including numerous application adapters. In contrast, Oracle SOA Suite provides a limited number of adapters. I would like to see more REST-based features added to Oracle SOA Suite, currently lacking, along with an enhancement of file size or payload capability, as the existing limitation is a 10 MB payload size. Additionally, Oracle SOA Suite licensing cost tends to be higher, adhering to a fixed pricing model rather than a pay-per-use basis, which might not be suitable for smaller organizations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"If you want to invest in this product, I recommend to go ahead and do it."
"The re-usability of the services makes it reliable and reduces the development efforts."
"We use it as middleware to interface between our financial application, which is JD Edwards, and the database, as well as to legacy systems."
"Another organizational benefit is that less human intervention is required when running the suite of products in SOA."
"Oracle SOA Suite allows for integrated systems and facilitates report making for quick decision making."
"It is a very good ESB if your team has JEE knowledge."
"The solution's XSLT or XSL Transformation feature was very useful."
"What I like best about Oracle SOA Suite is Oracle support. I also like the tool features, especially the integration feature."
"Offers a complete environment to develop PHP applications. It is valuable because it allows you to have a complete stack (PHP, MySQL, Zend Server) enabling the building of a development environment, and to deploy to the production system."
"The fact that it is available open-source is the best feature."
"It offers good support for various types of classes, along with many open source libraries that we can readily utilize in our application development process. This gives us a lot of options when it comes to custom development solutions, without having to worry about licensing or other programming-related issues."
"No issues with stability encountered."
"Scaling up is an important factor for large projects, and with PHP 7 and its performance improvements, this becomes even easier."
"Zend PHP Engine is more secure than any other framework, and I usually prefer Zend PHP Engine for big applications."
"The solution's initial setup process is easy."
"The cache modules that Zend provides have been able to optimize and accelerate the loading of the pages when there was exponential growth in data volume and quantity of requests. At the same time, the monitoring console allowed us to have a real-time understanding of the resources and to make decisions when they were at the limit."

Cons

"Although the SOA Suite solutions integrate well with Oracle Fusion middleware products, it lacks similar integration with Enterprise Manager."
"Occasionally, when you have open to many windows the tool acts erratic and has memory leaks."
"I want to see easier integration connections with other cloud-based tools."
"The installation and adjustment process seems too complex."
"We are unsatisfied with the technical support, and I rate them a four out of ten. They could be faster and more user-friendly in communication and response time."
"Customer service, I would rate it no more than 2.5/5. This is where they need to really improve the turnaround time."
"If there are some that are still in development or whatever, such as the Salesforce one, then you should probably consider something else."
"In our experience, technical support is really bad and needs a lot of work."
"In terms of improvement, it doesn't support concurrent processing. When we want to process anything on a concurrent basis, we have to divide it into a number of things, like a queue, or we have to run it using Cron jobs. We would like to have the capability to run any thread or process in parallel."
"The solution can be quicker."
"Zend PHP Engine needs to improve the loading time of its libraries and make it faster."
"Integration of MVC with ORM tools for PHP is okay, but lacking a short list of decent ORM tools for PHP to choose from; there is ample room for improvement in both areas."
"Its object oriented programming language needs improvement."
"The platform is not satisfying to me -- it is just not up to standards performance wise."
"The biggest problem with PHP is you have to write lot of conditions or have to use a framework."
"A general scripting language should be further developed and should be embedded into it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution."
"Oracle pricing is expensive. Support is based on your license. AWS is much better than Oracle in this regard."
"Based on my knowledge, Oracle SOA Suite doesn't have user-based licensing. It has a system-based licensing model, so you pay for whole systems. Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution, so it's a four out of ten for me."
"The pricing is not very high as compared to its competitors."
"The product is moderately priced."
"This product is WebLogic based, hence it can be both resource hungry as well as expensive from a licensing point of view."
"It is necessary to evaluate the requirement regarding the platform usage and what the main operation area of the platform will be."
"Its pricing depends on the number of users."
"The Zend PHP engine is open source technology, so there's no need for us to worry about licensing or other costs."
"No problem with pricing and licensing, as tools are open source. You have to consider training cost, mindset setup cost, as part of the TCO."
"The solution is open source and you just pay for the server cost."
"Zend PHP Engine is not an expensive solution."
